Title: Important! Do you know this person?!
Description: Looking for someone in The World.
Zaxuku - August 13, 2007 11:37 AM (GMT)
Hey! Important question here. Please, if anyone can contribute any information...
I only started playing on The World recently, and only because I'm looking for someone. IRL, this person has gone missing. And the police are doing jack-all about it. I recently recieved an email message from this missing person, merely saying 'I'm in The World'. Which means, he is playing the game from some other location, and I think this must somehow be the only way he can contact me.
I have no idea what his character looks like or even what name and class they are, so I have nothing to go on game-wise, but these are his RL details:
Name: Zachary Faire
Age: 21
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Link to a picture.
If anyone knows/has heard of him and has any information, or even if the admin of any of The World servers recognises his user details, please PM me or reply via the BBS.
Thankyou,
Zaxuku
(ooc: The link to a picture isn't actually really a link to a picture... uh... just pretend it is. *pats* ^_^ )

Do you have any other information? Most players don't go around giving their Real World information to just anyone. Anything at all could be helpful.
Zaxuku - August 14, 2007 12:56 AM (GMT)
Unfortunately, nothing else... I can't even think of what name he'd be using for his character. I was hoping that the administrators would be able to do something helpful about it..... gah. I'm just really desperate to find him. If I ever get anymore clues I'll post them here.

What are this kid's parents doing about it? I mean really, if he's been gone long enough for you to cause concern, then don't you think they'd have filed a MPR? I'm no detective, but usually they'll look pretty hard before giving up on someone.
But if, as you've said, he has access to a computer with the internet, he can't be that bad off. I'd help you out, if I were anything more than a shopkeeper in the game. As it is, I can let the admins know about your situation, but don't expect too much help. Generally, they don't like handing out information about players, even if you can prove that you know them IRL.
That said, I'm also certain that this has absolutely nothing to do with The World, no more than that he's able to play it. Extensive testing has shown that it is 100% safe, presuming the user doesn't have a pre-existing medical condition (like schizophrenia, cleptomania, epilepsy, etc.). No need to worry the customers who affect my payroll. ^_^;;
Good luck, though, and I do hope you find him. Have you tried replying to his flashmail?
(ooc: this seems very much like the whole thing 'twixt Kite and Orca, so be careful - especially if you try to follow the same line in your questing. PM with any questions)
Magras - August 14, 2007 01:23 AM (GMT)
It's a wide World out there, don't get discouraged! If you ever need any help, just call me up and I'll lend a hand in your search.

You're looking for someone in The World with info about a person in the real world?
Right... Sorry if I seem skeptical, but it doesn't really seem possible. What? Are you going to go around town shouting out this guy's name?
Locke - August 14, 2007 10:55 AM (GMT)
You're not much help.
I'd have to agree with Amethyst on this one. Since he sent you an e-mail, reply and see what happens. If he's on the World, it's likely that everything is fine. I'm sorry about your friend- I'll do whatever I can to help. Just send me a message if you find anything, and I'll do the same.

He's my older brother and legal guardian, our parents have been dead since I was small. Like I said before, the police are on it, but they've pretty much proved their uselessness so far. No leads, whatsoever. He's even left his passport behind.
But if, as you've said, he has access to a computer with the internet, he can't be that bad off. I'd help you out, if I were anything more than a shopkeeper in the game. I hope he's not bad off, but still, that's no excuse for just leaving and not saying anything! Grr, now I'm mad at him... and thanks for alerting the admins, I hope they can take my situation seriously.

Thanks a lot, Amethyst, Locke and Magras, really. It means a lot to me that people are willing to help. o_o And I don't see why he'd be in any danger because of The World... even if I still have no idea why he mentioned it to me in the first place. That's why I think he's in some sort of trouble and not just out partying, though... and I did reply to his mail, though since then I've gotten no reply back from him.
Also, lugiablaster? Yes, I know it sounds damn stupid, but that's what I plan to do. I'm desperate. My brother is missing. And if I have to go around every field, forest, dungeon and base town screaming his name to find him I will.
Centrus - August 14, 2007 05:47 PM (GMT)
I'm definitely digging the enthusiasm, man. Keep up the looking. I'll take down his info and do a bit of scrounging myself. Good luck man. Any ideas what his username would be? It would make it a whole lot easier to find him. Think about things he likes or names he called himself.
Uruvei - August 14, 2007 06:03 PM (GMT)
Wow, that sounds rough for you, man. So you're all by yourself? Not to pry too much, but I hope you're old enough to take care of yourself. I mean, you sound pretty self-sufficient, but there are some things that you really need to be an adult to do... like pay bills...
Sorry, I know that's none of my business. I'll focus on trying to help you find your brother. :3
Centrus is completely right. Any possible hints on what the username could be would be a big help. Maybe it's similar to his email address? Or a nickname? And don't forget variations to his own name. I'll see if I can find any players named Zachary or Zack or Faire. It'll be nice to feel that my information network is helping someone else, for once. :3
Locke - August 14, 2007 06:04 PM (GMT)
Good idea, Centrus. If we can get a clue to his name, it will definitely narrow our choices. Here's another question that may help us a bit- based on what you've seen of The World and your brother's personality, what class do you think he'd choose? We may not have a certainty, but with an idea of his class and username, we can probably reduce the searching time.
Zaxuku - August 15, 2007 12:37 AM (GMT)
Username, username... crap, I can't think Of anything. :/. He gets called 'Spike' and 'big brother' by me, his mates call him Zed sometimes, and obth of us always get a lot of jokes about our last name involving 'fair weather'... that's all I can think of .__.
S'alright Uruvei, don't really see that as prying. Thanks for your concern, but as far as money goes I'm handing stuff okay :) I've got a part-time job and ontop of that we've always had a bank-account saving up money for holidays, which I'm using money from to pay most of the bills. Makes Japan and America further away, but y'know D: plus my friends are helping as much as they can. And I'm not by myself, I've got cats :)
As far as classes go... Something impressive and knight-ish, definitely. I've been thinking mainly Blademaster, Heavy Blade like me, or even Heavy Axe. He likes swords. Big ones.

... I'm usually around Mac Anu, and I've started to recognize names I see getting on and off at certain points in the day... member names come up and leave, regularly on a weekly basis. I don't really pay much attention to them, but I know just about everyone who plays has a schedule. It's hard to play a game like this with any real success if you log on any random time.
What time was the e-mail sent to you? It may indicate a time at which he's able to get onto the computer he's accessing...
If you have a version of Fool Batch or Hiskk, you might try tracking his MAC address. Assuming you've got FIOS, your main hub would most likely be in the largest city near wherever you live. You could call and ask about it, but there's probably a good chance, if he's not staying anywhere specifically, that he's using multiple computers.
I'm sorry I can't help any more. Try to get everyone here some regular information, some details about all the constant things he does - the times he gets on, if you even know, emails, passwords, contact information, any of that so you can try and get a hold of him. I'll keep an eye out for one of those classes you mentioned... and I'll pay special attention to who logs in and out, as well as I can. In the end, I can only do so much... even with 16 sub-servers and growing, Mac Anu is still immensely crowded during busy parts of the day.
Best of luck to you, friend. I hope you find your brother.

*Sigh*
After two weeks of searching, I haven't come up with any leads. I found a few good suspects, but none of them was your brother. I even knew a few of them, but didn't recognize them. I'll keep looking, but you have to face the fact that it may be impossible to find him. I don't want to get your hopes up. Again, I'll continue my search, but don't be too expectant.
