Title: Help with Questing Decision

Theatrephreak - April 24, 2007 10:08 PM (GMT)
Ok, so this is more of a general question rather than a question for the mods, but I just wanted to be safe.

Slevin's "main" quest, if you would call it that, or storyline is going to involve a group of hackers that is based around the Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass stories. Each of the bosses is a different character from the stories, with some of the bosses being two characters.

Now, one of my main problems is which characters to include. As of right now the list consists of:

Alice Ally-plays for CC Corp to try and eliminate Hackers (Wavemaster)
Red Queen Biggest of the baddies, the main hacker (Whipmaster)
Cheshire Cat Main Assassin for the hackers (Fist Fighter)
Mad Hatter and March Hare Deadly duo of the hackers, fights together always (Twin Blade/Blademaster)
Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum Newest recruits to the hackers (Heavy Axeman/Heavy Blade)
White Rabbit Ally-sent in by CC Corp to point Alice in the direction of the hackers (Archer)
Caterpillar Ally-Gives Alice advice as to how to defeat the hackers, affiliation unknown (Wavemaster)

Alice is going to be an NPC Ally with Slevin, as will the White Rabbit after a while.

Now, I'm unsure as to whether or not I should incorporate the Dormouse with the Mad Hatter and March Hare and make them a Tea Party Trio, and if so, what class should the Dormouse be?

Also, should there be another ally to Alice in the form of the White Queen, and if so what class should she be?

Let me all know what your thoughts are.

Moved to writing help forum because, well, you're asking for help about your writing.

I like the idea of running a quest-series based on Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. I was actually thinking of doing something similar with my character and the storyline behind Coheed and Cambria's music. Anyway, in terms of classes for your NPC-PCs, a good chunk of mine don't have classes (and I would remind you that they're hackers, so why adhere to the rules at all?), but if you insist on giving them classes here are my suggestions:

Dormouse - Fistfighter (a well-rounded class. I don't know the character very well, but it would balance out the trio pretty well, what with how fast fistfighters can actually move).
White Queen - Blademaster (doesn't quite fit the mold of a White Queen, but hey, give her a Rue affiliation and you've got yourself a white sword to balance out your party).

Hope this helps. ^_^

EDIT: ok, seeing as I just saw that you can't fight hackers, I'm going to go ahead and just make them a Pkers guild that's taken things to far and is now targeting CC Corp affiliated people as well as the normal players.

Well, unless I'm wrong and you can indeed fight hackers?

Also, I'm gonna make the White Queen a Long Arm, as she'll never really will join up with us for long.

Sound ok?

You can fight hackers; a friend and I are fighting one that's heavily involved in our pasts.

Ok, then hackers it is!

Sweet.

Although, I can still have NPCs invloved with CC Corp, right?

Jpec07 - April 25, 2007 01:58 AM (GMT)
So long as you don't touch .hack canon characters, it's fine. ^_^

Theatrephreak - April 25, 2007 02:04 AM (GMT)
Oh I won't.

Alice is going to be a stubborn, opinionated employee in CC Corp who despises Wavemasters, despite being one herself (the higher ups designed her character), and she hardly ever acts like a little girl.

I'll probably have the first quest up within the next couple of days.

Alice won't make her entrance until the second, but the storyline will have a bit of a teaser to the storyline!

What's with the Heavy classes being idiots? <_<

What kind of theme are you going with for the story's events? Description of setting, mood, and character tones can add a bizzare/morbid feel to the enviorment to make it more like Through the Looking Glass. It'll also boost your rewards which is always a sweet thing.

Not to argue, but with two longarms in the party, doesn't it seem a bit...longarmish? I dunno, that just doesn't seem terribly balanced. Maybe make White Queen a Heavy Axeman instead a la Subaru?

Theatrephreak - April 26, 2007 11:57 AM (GMT)
I just picked the Heavy classes for them cause they seemed closely related, so that's where I went.

As far as the setting, I'm going to make it much more bizarre/morbid in the characters attitudes and in the setting of the levels, which will have been tweaked a bit thanks to the hackers. I'm planning on using these two things to create a mood of alienation and possibly almost horror (think that one computer game Alice).

But, as far as the white queen goes, I have been considering making her one of the heavy classes, and I think a Heavy Axeman would kinda work.

Plus, she could always deliver the killing blow to the Red Queen screaming, "NO, off with YOUR head!"

That amuses me!
