Title: Baron's Profile

Locke - April 22, 2007 06:01 PM (GMT)
1. Name of Character in The World- Baron
2. Name of Real World Player- Locke Bladewright
3. Age- 16
4. Class- Twin Blade
5. Clothing- **UPDATED** The Twin Blade’s usual hairstyle remains, long black hair tied back behind him with a strip of brown leather. Baron’s black jacket is still mostly there, hanging unzipped, though the bottom is cut a little shorter, and the neck is lined with feathers, thick and white. On the back of his jacket, the markings for two wings are visible in bright white. The sleeves end halfway down his biceps, revealing lightly muscled arms that are bare until they reached black, fingerless gloves. Both gloves have rectangular cuts in the back of them, and on the back of the left hand, a half-moon mark is visible. The same symbol is visible on the bandana tied around Baron’s left arm, one he had worn on his head way back at the beginning. Under the Twin Blade’s jacket, a pure white shirt is visible, and marked in gold across the chest is the symbol for Libra, an omega with a line beneath it. Add to that a pair of night-black pants buckled up by two belts wrapping around Baron’s waist, and a pair of sheaths hanging from either side, and you have the Twin Blade’s new look.
6. Eye color- Silver
7. Height- 6' even.
8. Hair color- Black, it extends to the back of his neck and is tied back with a leather cord.
9. Personality- Locke is a good-natured kid, but a bit of an enigma. Quiet generally, he seems a different person on The World. He tends to be a little impulsive on occasion, so he tends to act before thinking it out, but he can get out of many a tight spot. He is still a little uncertain around other people, so he prefers solo quests rather than going with others. If invited, he will generally decline, but every now and then, he will go along with it or invite others.
10.Weapon/Armor-
Weapon: Kai (Saber Dance)
Armor:
Head – Bandanna (Repth)
Arm – Wristbands (Juk Rom)
Body – Leather Coat (Gan Zot)
Feet – Sandals

11. A writing sample on how you found the world-

Locke is what everyone considers to be an average high school student. Born and raised in the United States, he is the epitome of ordinary. He lives an ordinary life, in an ordinary city, goes to an ordinary school, etc. He hates it. Life was always so monotonous that it just became day after day of drudging through schoolwork and daily life.

His daily life was barely even a life. Between studies and friends, Locke still had way too much free time left on his hands. Without much of interest to do otherwise, he spent that free time sleeping or, if he couldn't sleep, staring at the ceiling for hours on end. The only time where he actually felt "alive" was at school. Naturally, that hurt just as badly as doing nothing.

Locke himself was a bit of an enigma among the students. Quiet and introverted, he never talked to others much. He was a brilliant student, and couldn't glance at a problem without analyzing it from twenty different perspectives. However, he preferred to keep to himself, and often spent many hours daydreaming, lost in the paradise that was his imagination. However, his imagination could only take him so far. He sank into boredom, and eventually a minor depression with life. His few friends, Franz and Laura, tried to get him out of this depressive state, but to small avail. Finally, Franz showed Locke a few games from his collection, seeing if a brief escape from his reality would cheer him up. It worked to an amazing degree. Not only did his mood improve, but he became more cheerful, energetic, and spirited. It became somewhat of an obsession.

He played everything, from video games to online games. He played several different systems, experimenting with different genres to find a topic that interested him. After a few months of game-playing, he settled in on RPG style games. He loved the way that you got to make your own choices, interact with others, whether player or NPC; and go on various adventures that would make everyday life incredible. However, as time passed, he began running out of games to play. He beat all of his old games quickly, doing all that there was to do. The only games he hadn’t beaten were the multiplayer online games that never ended. Those became boring, with low-quality graphics and small interaction capabilities. He began sinking into boredom and lethargy again.

However, he weathered this storm for a few days before fighting back. He searched for hours each day, seeking the perfect game that would allow him to enjoy himself even more. He searched and searched, but to no avail. Finally, he gave up. He shut off his computer, and went to sleep for the night.

For the next few days, Locke resumed his ordinary, dull life, made even duller by the change in lifestyle. Compared to the life of gaming, going back to school seemed pointless. All he did was was sink back into his depression, shutting himself in his room for hours on end. It was obvious something was wrong though, especially when he began missing days of class at random. He just came and went whenever he felt like it.

One day, coming home from actually going to school for the day, Locke found a package addressed to him from a company called CC Corp. He was puzzled, as he hadn’t entered any sweepstakes or purchased anything. He shrugged, and took the package inside. He set the box on the table near the door, and went up to his room. It wasn't until a few days later that he remembered it.

The day that he recalled the box was a day he regretted not opening it before. He heard about a new game from Franz, called The World. Apparently, it was made by a company called CC Corp. Locke's jaw dropped when he heard about the company name and the game associated. He ran back to his house, and found the package, still sitting on the table with dust collecting. Brushing it off quickly, and then tearing open the box, he found a letter on top.

Dear Locke,

We at CC Corp have heard about your gaming prowess from many gamers around the globe. You are well-renowned as a pro gamer, and thus, we wanted to send you a copy of our best product, The World. We hope that you will enjoy it; just follow the instructions included, and you will enter a world of fantasy, adventure, and excitement! Enjoy!

Locke’s eyes gleamed at the sight of this letter. Pulling out the rest of the items in the package, he found a set of 3-D goggles, a controller for his computer, and a computer software box labeled The World. He immediately ran up to his room with the game, and installed it on his computer. The first screen came up: Character Registration. He was prompted to enter a character name.

“Let’s see… a name? How about…”

“Baron.”

Current Quests

Completed Quests+Grades
Winds of Destiny, Songs of Eruption
Baron's first quest in The World. It didn't go very well, unfortunately, since three of the players that were supposed to come didn't show up. Baron and a Blademaster companion, Deltabeta, went to the field for all of one fight, but then things ended there.
Graded by Zan; 5 Fortune Wires
Keywords: Delta: Indiscreet Bloody Cabbage

The Starting Path
The second of Baron's quests, and one of his first with a new companion. This is where Baron met Shenmock, while the player was new and still in the Wavemaster class. The two went to the field for a single fight, before Shenmock was poisoned during a fight. Since neither player had brought along an Antidote, they had to turn back. That was the end of the quest.
Graded by Zan; +1 Level
Keywords: Delta: Bursting Passed Over Aqua Field

Delta: Pulsating Eternal Remains
One of the first group quests for Baron that actually came together. The Twin Blade went with his friend Deltabeta, along with two Wavemasters, Hitori and Erk. The three players went through the field, and managed to make it to the Gott Statue at the bottom. Overall, a short but simple quest.
Graded by Zan; +1 Level/+Spark Blades/+Health Drink
Keywords: Delta: Pulsating Eternal Remains

The Betrayer's Tomb (Solo)
Baron's first solo quest, as well as his start as a rumor hunter. The Twin Blade heard of an area where an old treasure had lain, and was curious to find out what it was. Also, he wanted to find the ending of the legend that went with the area. In the dungeon proper, Baron found a cursed sword that reduced his SP to 0 and poisoned him as long as it was held. And it couldn't go in Baron's inventory, either. At the bottom of the dungeon, Baron found the knight mentioned in the legend of the Betrayer's Tomb. The sword was unsealed during the trials of the dungeon, and Baron was able to return the ancient weapon to the knight. In the end, he heard the end of the legend, and recieved the sword as a key item.

Keywords: Delta: Dreaming Betrayed Judgement

Leveling Up (Solo)
Baron decides to go on a quest sheerly for leveling up, since he's feeling a bit puny at the time. The quest, which involves several fights, but nothing really exciting, ends after the Twin Blade reaches the Gott Statue. In the end, he wonders if he really was stronger...
Graded by Zan; +1 Level/+Fuse Blades/+Leather Gloves/+Safety Shoes/+2 Health Drinks

Zombie Slayer Team 3 (EVENT)
During this seven-hour event, Baron is pitted against hordes of zombies, and does everything in his power to survive the event. He does so, though just barely, and manages to obtain third place.

Keywords: (ROOT TOWN) Mac Anu

A Rival's Quest
Baron's second quest with Shenmock- and it doesn't go any better than the first. The Twin Blade and his companion, now a long arm, head to a field for some training together. However, partway through, the two argue and the quest breaks up. It ends shortly after.

Following Rumors (Solo)
Another one of Baron's rumor-hunting quests. At a tip from a player named Magras over a rumor-hunting thread in the BBS, Baron heads to the area. It is supposedly a double-digited area, though Baron calculates it to be a level 2 one. It was strange, though, and the Twin Blade ran into a level 10 Red Wyrm, barely able to defeat the monster. Afterwards, he left, planning to visit again.

Travails of a Treasure Hunter (Solo)
Baron, while thinking over a quest to take, accidentally falls in the Mac Anu river and is carried downstream. While going down an alley he hadn't seen before, he almost has an encounter with three PKers who take rare items to sell for NetCash. Their next target: Baron, with his Swift Book. After a close escape, Baron managed to get to the Chaos Gate, where he gets to the Area that he had decided upon earlier. In the meantime, his Wavemistress friend, Violet, held onto his Swift Book. After a long, trap-filled dungeon with the PKers following him, Baron made it to the bottom level and the Gott Statue, barely escaping in the process, and finally throwing off the PKers for good.
Graded by Zan; +3 Levels/+Enou/+Sotetsu/+Hunter's Blood x1

A New Face
Baron's first quest with a new player, Talal. The female Twin Blade, leveling so quickly in her first quest with Takua, had caught Baron's attention. The male Twin Blade was curious to see if she was what everyone said she was, and decided to go questing with her. After a long quest, during which the two encountered a pair of PKers, Baron grew to respect and trust his companion, recieving the same in turn. The two Twin Blades left, both satisfied and stronger after the quest.

Zodiac's Requiem- Gemini (Solo)
The first quest that truly sets Baron's storyline. Planning on a quick quest for fun with a Wavemaster friend, Sashigo, Baron ends up with a rough start. The two players get in an arguement and go their seperate ways. Baron eventually finds his way to the dungeon, though, and goes through it. A mini-boss of sorts meets him at the end of each floor, a strange monster called the Twin Guardian. There are three different Twin Guardians for three different pairs of elements, and each is deadlier than the one before them. However, at the bottom, Baron, now reunited with Sashigo, discover an empty Gott Statue and a hidden room. After entering the room, they run into two players that are referred to as the Gemini, and another mysterious figure, Libra. Apparently, Baron was partially created to destroy the Zodiac, a group of AIs who plan to do something to The World, and so he was given the mission to do so, along with a new appearance. He accepted, and his course was set.

Wild Rapture Pt. 1
This quest is Baron's first with the Eventide Crescendo, where they descended into the Juk Prison, run by the Higher Jula. In this quest, Baron discovers the existence of the comatose players and how they are able to feel and experience everything in The World. He resolves to help them, and together the Eventides go through the Juk Prison's field, collecting the five Ganz Orbs in a series of difficult challenges that tested them mentally and physically. Baron shone throughout, making quick work of several of the puzzles, and in the end, he helped the other Eventides defeat Saol, the leader of the Wild Hunt that commanded under Jula. At the end, they were commanded to take a break until they headed back to finish the dungeon, and that was exactly what they did.

Regaining the Balance (Solo)
Between the end of the Juk Prison's field and the beginning of its dungeon, Baron is given some free time to do whatever until it was time to finish things up. The Twin Blade took this time to do some training, and in addition was able to reconnect to Libra, drowning out the Gemini in the process. From there, he learned that he would not be able to use Libra's power of equalization against the Zodiac due to his natural balance being thrown completely off. The quest continues as Baron fixes each problem, until he finally regains the balance he had sought. He was once more ready to fight the Zodiac.
Graded by Zan; +1 Level/+Scarab Earring/+Lincoln Green/+Air Bracer/+Oak Anklet/+Mage's Soul x2/+Resurrect x2
Keywords: Theta: Lonely Law's Core

Recollections (Solo)
Baron, with some time still remaining before the plunge back into the Juk Prison, decides to go for a walk down memory lane, starting from his first time logging in. He goes through several fields as he recalls some of the more significant events from his past, but at the end, he finally realizes that there is a connection between all of the strange things that he had been through in the past- and then learns that Libra had orchestrated that, to test him as he had gone along. And yet, Baron doesn't fault him. It seems he's ready to accept his fate and go after the Zodiac. After the Juk Prison, anyway.

Wild Rapture Pt. 2
The Eventide Crescendo heads back into the Juk Prison, this time delving into the dungeon with an ill leader and a weakened one. Not a good start. The group delves into B1, and is immediately set upon by the Swath again, the dark plane filling the entire floor with a gory mash of blood and disease. Each member is put through their own trials, physically, mentally, and emotionally, especially the "normal" ones, who became Immersed when the Swath took over. Finally, after coming across a monster that was created from a pair of merged Juka Sprites and defeating it, the group is somehow ejected from the field, leaving them confused and alone. What lies in store for them...?
