QUOTE
Delta-Dazzling Pseudo Hypha
The battle will take place on very flat, fertile land that is fairly slippery thanks to the constant rain that pours overhead. It’s the afternoon, but there’s no indication of the time of day since the sun has been blocked by thick rain clouds that look as though they will never go away. This arena seems perfect for newer fighters since it's an easy place to move around in and there's no distraction save for the slippery rain.

The Posting Order:

Commence, and have fun!

(( Hmm, first fight here. I can't spell so cut me some slack, and if I do something wrong, just tell me.. I'll fix it. ))

The rain pouring down hard. Twenty, or fourty drops hitting my body at a time. I walked into the slipery, wet arena and looked around for my opponents. They where no where to be found, so I decided to sit down rest my eyes, and meditate before they got here. ''So i'm up against two wave masters. I thought to my self.
''This should be quite fun.'' Lighting struck, and I smiled. ''Oh yea, this is going to be a blast, and I can use the money I win to buy pot's. I chuckled.

Welcome to the World......

‘You can take them.’

Cypher’s words moved about the boys mind like a continuous roller coaster. Only two days had pasted since Cypher had taken the young Wave Master under his wing, and even now he seemed to be expecting so much from his much younger, less experienced, counterpart. ‘I've got 200 on Eclypse being the 'winner take all'.’ Cypher had placed a wager on the boy almost immediately after the battle had been purposed. The bet would only benefit the winner of the battle, but that didn’t seemed to matter to Eclypse mentor. This made the young Wave Master question whether Cypher had tons of money to waste or he was more selfless then his abrupt appearance gave off. The Blade Master was a serious, interesting individual and there was probably more to him than meets the eye. Eclypse’s attention moved back towards the money; he hoped that Cypher didn’t care about the gold pieces and, judging by the amount of Gold in his friend’s pouch, it probably wasn’t. Maybe Cypher had a lot of confidence in the Wave Master; that confidence and encouragement surged about the boy’s body with a successful initiative. Eclypse wanted to win whether Cypher’s words were true or false. It wasn’t about the money-It was about the battle and the pride in thereof.

His eyes scanned the perimeter as he continued contemplating his mentor’s words. ‘I hope you’re right Cyph,’ Eclypse thought with bleak notions towards the outcome of this battle. He breathed deep taking in all the cold fibers from the nonexistent air. ‘I can do this.’ He reassured himself in the thundering darkness, as though Cypher’s words weren’t enough. It was nice of his mentor to believe in him, but it became harder and harder to think positively once he came to the realization of how powerful one of his opponents were. She was tough. ‘I only hope you realize it’s not all about winning and you won’t be disappointment in me if I don’t give you your money’s worth.’ Eclypse thought, being positive that Cypher would be watching this battle from afar with a purpose. ‘I hope I don’t let you down.’ Eclypse knew Cypher would probably want to see his student’s potential and Eclypse could give that much at least. A shiver pasted down his spine, confirming his suspicions; the same shiver had always come around whenever his mentor was close. ‘I’ll make you proud.’ All his negative thoughts relinquished against this last sentiment and he focused on the Delta where the battle would take place. ‘Let’s do this!’

The battle Delta was very flat, fertile land that with mushy indents corroding its surface thanks to the endless rain overhead. The area was fairly clear with no provided protection, so the rain instantly soaked anyone in the Delta. He had accepted the duel that morning and it was now the afternoon, indicating that his opponents were probably here by now, but there was no sign of where they were since the rain flooded anyone’s footsteps in mere seconds. The young Wave Master cupped his left hand over his forehead to shelter his eyes from the continuous flashing over head. This would enable him to see better in the darkness and he could at least get a glimpse of an opponent’s silhouette. ‘There’s one.’ He thought, noticing the shadow of his opponent, who seemed to be in a meditative state. Eclypse looked round about for the other opponent. ‘Seems the beautiful Wave Mistress is running late, but it looks like this kid will have to do for now.’ With the Wave Master’s instincts and reflexes intact, he ran across the slippery surface, pacing himself carefully so as not to trip atop the slick substance.

Eclypse’s eyes narrowed, his visuals focusing on the opponent known as Kinoz. His appearance wasn’t very visible in the darkness and he could only center his attention on the opposing Wave Master’s Character Card. ‘Hmm, level one, very new-so new that he currently has no specific wave element. If that’s the case, then he must’ve just recently started playing.’ A sigh came about the young man’s lips. ‘Erm, why would anyone around such a level accept a trio free for all…Especially against the infamous Wave Mistress?’ He wondered, but he thought better not to question the boy’s notions and shrugged in order to wipe out his confusion. The man had challenged him, regardless of his level and inexperience. ‘Ah well.’ He would’ve shrugged simply if he weren’t concentrating on maintaining his balance across the ground. ‘Man, this rain is annoying.’ He sighed once more; he was cold and unbalanced-out of his element entirely. Eclypse enjoyed the water, but he was a firm, balanced Wave Master, using the earth to initiate most of his attacks. It was much easier to attack when he could feel his feet in strong gravel, but instead his base was pruned in cold mud.

“Hey kid pay attention!” His opponent’s features were finally through all the rain and mist. Eclypse realized his opponent was facing the opposite direction and had to practically yell through the torrent of rain to get his attention. Eclypse probably could’ve taken the easy route and attacked him with his guard down, but he thought better of it when he recalled the last time a person tried to do that. Emicho received the opportunity to attack Eclypse in a very rude, if not cheap manner. Should had taken the opportunity and it had quickly led to her downfall. ‘There. I wasn’t Cheap. I gave Him the benefit of facing his opponent.’ For the time being, Eclypse had his Nautilus Rod casually across his shoulder, awaiting Kinoz’s acknowledgement. His mind wandered during his patience and he questioned how long the man had been waiting in the rain; perhaps the opposing Wave Master was stronger then Eclypse thought. That or he just enjoyed the rain. Either way it didn’t matter, the battle had been set, it was time to duel.

The lightning allowed Eclypse to receive bleak glimpses of his current opponent. Kinoz wore a Long black robe that moved all the way down to his feet, covering his basic sandals. The robe contained a hood that hung over his head, covering his face. ‘That’d be one reason he’s managed in this rain.’ The Wave Master thought simply, continuing to gaze at Kinoz while preparing an attack. It was surprising to find that the robe had white trimmings in the darkness; these trimmings resided on the ends of his robes. Most of his exterior had been entirely covered by the robe, which, all in all, was a fairly basic attire like Eclypse’s own. The Wave Master smirked when he saw that his opponent had a Nautilus Rod as well. ‘Heh, he at least he knows Gan Don hopefully.’ Eclypse thought solemnly, trying to find redeeming qualities of what may become and what currently appeared to be an easy, straightforward battle. ‘Ah well, time to Duel.’ He prepared himself to attack, hoping that the Wave Mistress would come about soon in order to make this battle more interesting. Eclypse kept his guard up during the preparation and would continue to trust his reflexes until the last opponent made them self known.

The center of Eclypse’s metal rod was gripped firmly in the center while it was brought forward. “Alright let’s go!” The young Wave Master twisted his torso, attempting to slam his weapon of choice towards his opponent’s abdomen. The Nautilus Rod readied itself to strike firm and true. For the first time during battle, Eclypse was testing his Avatar’s strengths and limitations. The Wave Master probably wouldn’t have been able to slam a brittle fist against his opponent’s jaw, but his weapon was made almost entirely out of metal. It had no feeling whatsoever, and wouldn’t break on contact. He wondered how strong his weapon truly was and if it was made to take such pressures in battle. He hadn’t really seen many Wave Masters bang their weapon against an opponent, but he hadn’t really seen many Wave Masters in the first place. ‘I’m not a brute fighter, but he’s weaker then I am. So this should do some damage.’ He felt the resistance of the air, the gravity pushing down across his body and the rain splashing across his weapon while it moved with such immense speed.

“Juk Rom.” The young man knew the physical attack would not be enough so he sternly planted his sandals upon the cold ground once more, attacking once more before his opponent could react. Elcypse was now in close quarters with his opponent; the Juk Rom was produced from what seemed like a sensitive glove. The attack emitted chunks of wood, all of which were circling through the air, and would continue to do so until the tornado made contact with its opponent or any other form of matter. The Juk Rom was quickly becoming his opening move since it took less energy to use, and allowed him to take the initiative. Eclypse considered the attack a preliminary round and it’d be impossible for his opponent to win if they couldn’t take a few shots from the elemental wood. The quick blast of rotating elemental had now fully dispersed from his glove in a wave of magical power. The monstrous vortex was aimed towards Kinoz’s face. ‘Enjoy the Blisters. Thought Eclypse as he awaited his attack to strike true and fierce.

* * * THE WORLD: MAC ANU * * *

Pacing across the market of the Aqua capitol of newbies and wouldbes, Arinyes was mostly preoccupied with the debate of the previous night on the board, where someone had been ushering a challenge for a duel. Someone else had been responding and they had pretty much set the stage already. How she had come to the idea to actually participate in it, she still had difficulty to grasp. Yet, she had even taken up on a small wager, which with her current funds wouldn’t hurt too much.

She could care less about money. It was the taking it up with other players that unsettled her, which should be little surprising seeing her recent adventures, if getting chased around by high level warriors and killed in the end could count as adventure. Personally she was more inclined to call it pure sadistic torture. Every single thing so far had been a run around the whole damn place, and knowingly entering a duel was just asking to do the same again. Score so far… By the skin of her teeth; two. Utter failure; one. Simple game success; nill, nada, zilch! What sort of game was it to have her having to trade a victory for something else, just to have her victory?

At least it would be three wavemasters this time – hold on, there are only two, I’m a wavemistress after all (har har har). She could only hope that her opponents wouldn’t turn out to be high levels, otherwise it would be back to nothing but running and trying to get out unscathed by the skin of her teeth once again – I must be setting a track record (yuk-yuk-guffaw).

Deciding she had enough with hanging around the market in wait for a message to tell her it was time, she strolled down the streets and found herself facing the weapon’s store. Eyeing her water staff, a wooden double time nothing, she sighed deeply. She was never going to do any worthy bludgeoning with that thing. In fact, there had been a couple of instances where she had thought it were to break fending off the heavy blade. No, she was going to need something else, preferably sturdy and with something like her old iron rod.

Going in and getting a message that the field was ready, she rolled her eyes and quickly shot a look around the store. The only thing that was available and at all useful for the purpose was a metal rod with on top of it three flat sides of woven metal-work that looked like the top of a cross. Nice for chopping and likely capable of taking a beating without breaking; just perfect for beating folks silly. “I’ll have that one, please,” she told the NPC shopkeeper, pointing out the weapon, fumbling with her purse.

“1400 GP,” the shopkeeper told.

“Bloody hell!” Arin exclaimed, nearly dropping the purse. Seeing the shopkeeper regarding her blandly, she shrugged lightly. “I can afford it, but… well, I’m kinda new to this sort of shopping.” Not getting much of a response, she briefly had the passing through whether the NPC was actually less advanced than she had thought at first. “No need to gift wrap it, I’ll eat it here in the store,” she added in a lame attempt of humor, laying out the required gold.

Smiling, the NPC shopkeeper handed it over.

When she walked out of the store, she heard him call from behind, “Enjoy your lunch, miss Arinyes.”

Stumbling to a stop, she refrained from looking back, and instead rushed down the street for the chaos gate. She was just hoping that the NPC merely knew her name through the means of player information, since it was dealing on that level for the program, and nothing of the sorts that she had gathered some fame. The idea of being known didn’t settle too well with, especially since the recent assault on her person had been leaning towards that. The things that had been said were a little too close to the mark, and the last thing she could use was being observed by all manner of factions.

Being held up at the chaos gate, she stared full of disbelief at the group that awaited her. Standing on one side was Ramako the whipmaster and his two wavemaster friends Iron Maiden and Blue Wave, on the other side Wrangle the long arm. And each face lit up with a smile, even Ramako. “What the hell are you doing here?” she demanded.

“Just seeing a lady off,” Ramako retorted and turned with surprise when Wrangle stepped in and knelt, planting his fist against the ground, saying, “Not a worthy process for you, my lady, but at least you will be seen off properly.”

Laughing, Blue Wave remarked, “Looks like there’s more admirers vying for the lady’s favor.”

Exchanging a look with Iron Maiden, Arinyes advanced on the trio and found Iron Maiden already making room, Ramako quick to follow suit. Whipping up her staff, she planted it perfectly inside the folds of the surprised wavemaster right between the legs, whom made a comical face, before stumbling back. Nodding to Iron Maiden in gratitude, she scowled at the other two men. “Last thing I want for this is a fanfare wishing me well. I detest fighting.”

Chuckling dryly, Wrangle remarked, “Having seen you in combat first hand, I know better than that, my lady.”

“That I can handle myself, doesn’t mean that I necessarily need to enjoy it, you klutz!” she snapped, grunting with disgust when he merely smiled. “Oh, for the love of… I’m out of here!” Stepping up to the gate, she spoke the words without pause, raising her staff above her head, “Delta-Dazzling Pseudo Hypha.”

Waiting impatiently for the much too slow golden rings to do the job to get her out of there, just before her vision was obscured by the tunnel of light, did she spot the dark unmistakable figure of Grimm. Having no more time to ponder, she was far too quickly dropped into…

* * * Δ DELTA-DAZZLING PSEUDO HYPHA * * *

… a field that she could only describe as deluge. Looking down at her feet already sinking lightly into the mud with water everywhere, she turned her gaze to the dark sky as rain poured down by the gallon, a streak of lightning cleaving across the dark roiling mass of clouds. Drenched in an instant, she laughed loudly, bordering on mania.

“The fool!” she laughed, “That bloody fool!!” Laughing loudly with renewed vigor, she nearly went double from it. Taking a deep breath and pulling up straight, she softly breathed out. “Drop me right in my favorite sort of weather… someone is so going to wish to not have picked this place.”

Scanning the limited range of her view, she wondered whether Sanjutsjio, or something like that and… Eclipse? Well, wondered whether they had showed up already. Again snorting with some laughter, she thought, A free-for-all in dark flat and muddy field. What do you mean, a dirty fight? Chuckling, she squinted when a series of lightning lit up the horizon, giving her a view of two figures already engaged in combat.

“Ooo…” she muttered and frowned, “looks like someone is eager to fight...”

SP 59 of 59

(Edit OOC: Edit because of confusion regarding SP in duels. Read an old post that said something different, but was clarified by Cypher.)

Arinyes - June 24, 2007 09:45 AM (GMT)
Slowly approaching her two engaged opponents, another flash of lightning showed Arin that her initial observation had been off. One had snuck up on the other, launching a spell and with a fell swoop taking care of part of the competition. Flinching and shuddering when the body of the one sitting slumped, she could only watch in horror the three way free-for-all become a duel of two. And who knew what sort of duel it would prove to be. The remaining contender for the win might have already used up skill points and as such be at a bit of a disadvantage, such might well be trivial in the grander scheme of things.

Taking a defensive stance when the remaining wavemaster seemed to have taking notice of her, Arinyes wondered whether she should just unleash hell already. Not really one to go with first impressions all the way, walking in on a dirty move like that wasn't inspiring her with confidence that he might not treat her with similar kindness. Suddenly highly aware of the noise of water crashing down on the field all around her, occasionally disrupted and over-voiced by the crack and roll of thunder, Arin peered hard through the veil of darkened water. It would be useless to do it at this range, she told herself. After all, with him seeing anything coming, it would be sheer luck if she actually managed to hit him.

Approaching at his own leisure, a wavemaster seemingly dressed in trenchcoat slowly stepped out of the blur of moving water. Dressed mainly in white and blue, he struck up as a weird figure, dispensing completely with the robes that were prone for the majority of wavemasters, instead wearing baggy trousers with sandals. Setting down the typical Nautilus Rod, she noted the leather gauntlets he wore, as well a headband to keep his hair back, alerting her to the fact that this one might well have a better sense for combat than the average lout. Of course, it might just as well be that he just picked clothes like that because he liked the looks of warrior attires. "I am Eclypse," the boy introduced himself, clearly a boy by the sound of his voice as well his appearance, his blue eyes flashing bright as lightning streaked across the sky.

Nodding slowly, certain that he was studying and measuring her just as well, Arinyes had the faint impression that she was going to find herself in a similar situation as the heavy blade Chez had done the day before facing her. Though she topped him by level, that meant little. "Hello. Arinyes," she curtly replied and warily followed his movements. It was hard to say just what he was going to be about, and not knowing what to expect didn't help much.

Just when it became almost too much to bear, suddenly her opponent vanished.

Stumped, Arin stood in the rain as though she were hinging on tipping over at any moment, staring away at the dark horizon that lay somewhere out there in infinity, drawing abruptly nearer with the ongoing lightning, but receeding as soon as it passed. "Timed out," she muttered, repeating it a multitude of times, until it went from a chant to a personal mantra. Not that it helped her getting timed out of the field.

Throwing back her head when the mantra finally did register in her mind, she let herself fall backward into the mud, her arms wide and her weapon rolling away when her back made an impact with the earth. Snorting, followed by a giggle, it welled up to laughter, bordering on hysterical. With the rain pounding her flat figure, her face included, she lay there for a long time, laughing and hooting, until all of the pent up stress and tension had ebbed, making place for tears.

Rolling onto her side, she hunched up and sobbed lowly in her knees, her mind a blur of thoughts of all the things that had happened to her from the beginning on. Someone had stolen the treasure from under her nose, a field that had gone insane, hunted by a bunch of people she hadn't known or done anything to and being robbed... And gods, why!? Why did her duel - her first duel - a duel that had taken so much mental preparation and tempering of nerves - have to end in such a rotten manner?

Gathering herself up and getting her staff by crawling on hands and knees, she looked at her cyber hand for a long time, before deciding just to terminate her session...
