Welcome to the World......
The fountain of Mac Anu was slowly becoming dull to the young Wave Master since he had been sitting there for quite some time. Its marble coating was beautiful, as always, but lately he found himself just sitting in the middle of the City with nothing to do time and time again. He wanted to go partake in something fun, but lower level Wave Masters weren’t known for going on Quests by themselves and no one was asking him to join their party. He debated whether he should message someone, but unfortunately, he only knew three people, two of which probably wouldn’t take him very far, while the other was currently offline. He knew his friend Ko_Inuyasha was probably busy with The Army of Darkness, but he wanted to partner up with him, just to witness his power once more. Ko truly was an amazing display of raw power and speed, and Eclypse wanted to be part of that. The young man knew he probably wasn’t making the Heavy Blades-men proud by sitting around. So, he pulled himself up, concluding that he would have a duel to prove himself and hopefully make the Wave Masters look good. He looked over the character cards of the people he knew. ‘Ko’s too strong, and Urufu’s a fellow Wave Master.’ He thought to himself, expressionlessly contemplating which familiar fighter he should fight against. ‘Emicho’s tough, but I probably have the best chance against her.’ With to vacant beeps that only Eclypse could here, he opened up his messages and composed a message for his friend Emicho.

To: Emicho From: Eclypse Message Subject: Battle in The Roses? Message: Hey Emicho. There’s this great Dueling area that I’d really like to try out. I’ll be in Dazzling, Pseudo, and Hypha. So yeah, just come around tonight if you’d like to fight me. I’ll be waiting over there from 9:00 PM to 10:00 or so. I’ll be near the clearing next in the middle of the forest. So, starting on the north side of the forest’s edge, just go east through the forest-you can’t miss it. Message me if you have any problems getting there. |
Eclypse looked up after he had sent the message and noticed that it was fairly dark and would probably be time for him to transport over to the Delta field soon. The Young Wave Master looked over his pouch to learn that everything he needed was in there, which, sadly, was only one thing; his Mage’s Soul item. He looked towards his Grunty with an easy smile. Zane, the silver Grunty, looked over to him and lazily placed himself in the pouch since he knew the Chaos Gate was too far away for him. It really wasn’t that far away at all, just too far for his little legs. Eclypse had predicted Zane’s laziness, already having enough space in the carrier bag for the baby Grunty to be comfortable. He had memorized the way from the fountain to the Chaos Gate so it only took a few minutes to reach the platform. Mac Anu was slowly becoming smaller to Eclypse compared to the overall World and he felt like he was always lost whenever he transported somewhere else.
“Dazzling Pseudo Hypha.” The young man said the keywords, watching the golden Rings hover about his body. The Rings had only one specific use, which was streaming the user’s data from one place to another. But their design was astonishing; there was so many different engravings and lines on each ring, all of which were different from the next ring. He wished he could have received a clearer view of the Rings, but they were only there for a second. After that he could only see light, the Rings once more for half a second, and then the scenario he had chosen. His dyed hair immediately dropped across his forehead, unable to support the wait of the cold, endless rain that was now all over the boy’s pale skin. He noticed his pouch was slowly starting to flood and that his Grunty was getting soaked, so he placed the silk lid over the pouch to help him stay dry. Eclypse casually placed his rod across his shoulder and looked at the landscape before him; it was so beautifully dreary-a scenario that only The World would create-and the forest seemed to provide some protection from the rain. He thought of his Grunty-wondering if he should have brought the little guy in the first place-and decided to move to the forest in order to keep Zane as dry as possible. He remembered a player whose Grunty became really sick from being in the rain for too long. Although Eclypse really wanted to, it wasn’t an option to go back to Mac Anu and find a warm place to drop him off, seeing as how he didn’t know anyone who really knew how to take care of a Grunty, and he probably wouldn’t want to place such pressure on another player even if they did know how. So, his only option was to find dry ground and leave Zane there until the battle was over…Assuming he’d be able to reach the baby Grunty after all was said and done.
He walked towards the area where he was to meet Emicho, hoping that there was dry land there. Unfortunately, he had forgotten that the arena was set as an open ground area in the middle of the forest so it was as damp as any other unprotected land. He went west in the opposite direction, moving deep into the forest since he knew that the thicker the forest was, the drier it would become. He had taken his cold Grunty out from the pouched and nestled him in his arms; his wet hands and overcoat had little warmth to give, but they had more heat then the soaked pouch that Zane was previously in. “Here you go.” With hope, the two of them found a fairly dry area. “Just stay put okay? I’ll be back soon.” He placed his Grunty upon the ground, taking off his equipment pouch-putting his Soul’s Mage Item in his pocket-and placing it over Zane in order to help him get warmer. Eclypse kissed the creature’s forehead scratching his scruff for a moment in order to make the small creature. He had a little more time until the battle was to begin, so he continued to pet his Grunty until it was time to go. As he did this, he was sub-consciously counting the minutes until the battle would begin; his thoughts were fairly nervous. Ten minutes passed when the Young Wave Master pulled himself up from the dry patch of grass and walked balked into the thinner forestry, towards the arena. His grip on his rod stiffened as he contemplated how he should go about this battle. He really didn’t have any new spells or items or even equipment since he first registered into The World, but he new he was stronger; he could feel it and such confidence was what it would take to win this battle.
Emicho - March 5, 2007 03:00 AM (GMT)
“Pyuuu!” The adoration was clear in the grunty’s voice, and Emicho couldn’t help but smile. The little thing sat on the ground, over-sized head tilted up to look at it’s companion. With a hop, he was onto the ledge of the bridge, balancing on not-so-sturdy little paws. And of course, within moments, he was toppling over the side, towards the fast-moving currents. Or he would have been, if two hands hadn’t quickly flashed out and grabbed him. “Pyuu...” The tone of voice was now pitiful, and Sir Scruffykins Jr. Sr. the Third snuggled up in Emicho’s arms, closing his large grey eyes and resting his royal blue nose on her arm.
“You clumsy lump of grunty. Be glad I was there to catch you... This time.” But Emicho could not be mad at him, of course. The bond between them was obvious, and the twin blade carefully lifted the grunty off the ledge and onto the bridge beside her. Mac Anu flowed around behind them, oblivious to the event which had just occurred. Typical. Self-centered, all of them.
“C’mon, Scruff, let’s go get you something to eat.”
“Pyuuu!” Joyful again, of course. As they neared the grunty shop, Emicho looked down at Scruffy. The little thing was so cute, hobbling along next to her, lime-green bangs falling over his eyes. She wondered what he’d be like when he grew up…
“Ouch! I’m supposed to be able to afford this stuff!?” Frustrated, Emicho stalked around the shop, glaring at the high prices. “This is incredible!” With an ‘hmph,’ Emicho was outside of the shop, stomping down the streets of Mac Anu, Scruffy struggling to keep up with her. His little paws tapped against the street, and he rammed his head against Emicho’s leg to get her to stop.
Apologizing over and over, Emicho fell down onto a bench and pulled Scruffy into her lap, where he curled up like a cat. “Sorry, Scruff, maybe we’ll find something for you to eat out in the field.” Just as she said that, her monitor ‘pinged,’ and the ‘flashmail’ icon appeared in the corner of the screen.
’Who could that be…?’

“A duel?” shrugging, Emicho closed the flash mail, memorizing the keywords. Sure, why not. It would be something to do, and she wanted to see how Eclypse planned on fighting. Plus, she hadn’t been to a forested area yet. It would be fun. There didn’t seem to be any rules, which would also be fun. Yes, Eclypse could count on her being there.
Sliding off the HMD, Emicho, now Nikki, checked her watch. 8:30, plenty of time to get ready.
“Let’s go, Scruffy. Dazzling Pseudo Hypha waits. But first I need to do something...” Scooping up the baby grunty in her arms, Emicho got to her feet and was once again walking the streets of Mac Anu. This was just the thing to lift her from her gloom, and she imagined she must look like she was walking on air, to the players passing by. Soon enough she was at the Elf’s Haven, and after placing Sir Scruffy Jr. Sr. the Third on the ground, she went about removing her robes, which took a minute or two.
“Damn things are too heavy,” she explained to the obviously un-caring shop-keeper. He was an AI. And anyways, he’d probably seen odder things. Feeling much better in her pants and shirt, with the light chains running down her arms, the twin blade shoved her robes at the shop keeper. “Here. Take ‘em. Put ‘em in my storage, eh?” He obviously didn’t want them, but she left him no choice, scooping up her grunty and striding away. Scruffy tried nipping at the chains, but sniffled once he realized that metal wasn’t on the food pyramid, and most likely never would be.
Walking over to the Chaos Gate, Emicho checked her items bag, making sure she had everything. ’Wouldn’t matter if I didn’t, though, seeing as I have about 50 GP…’ Scruffy moved towards the revolving ring, trying to shove his nose through it but having trouble, seeing as it was constantly moving. As players came in and out, golden rings surrounded the small area, and the little grunty seemed in awe of these. He leapt about, trying to pounce on the bands of light, which the players around him seemed to be amused by. ’I should get a leash for him.. Someone might deem him cute enough to steal,’ Emicho thought with a grin. Bending down, she scooped up the grunty once again and turned towards the Chaos Gate.
“Delta, Dazzling Pseudo Hypha!” Within moments, the golden rings were surrounding the girl as well, and she got the same feeling of excitement that she did whenever she traveled through the Chaos Gate. It was incredible- impossible to put into words. Scruffy was squealing; this was his first time warping out of Mac Anu, and from the noise he was making, Emicho settled on the fact that he was either quite excited or scared to death. Soon enough, though, it was over, and they were in the field.
The field. A great plain, or what used to be one, stood in front of her. Although ‘used to be’ was an important phrase here. A forest had sprouted from the ground, as well as many other plants, bushes, and flowers. Like almost all of ‘The World’, it was beautiful. Stunning. Emicho found herself drawn to it, found herself leaning down to pluck a small white flower from its bush, bringing it up to her face. Scruffy, imitating her, shoved his face into the bush, which was followed by Emicho pausing to giggle for a few moments, and then straightened, wanting to get going. It was almost nine, after all.
Making her way through the forest, Emicho was glad for the canopy of leaves; it filtered out some of the rain and cast a shade over the area. Only the background music and the various forest-like sounds could be heard, aside from the tapping of three pairs of feet through the grass. There was very little light by now, the moon had not quite reached its full height, and the forest was even harder to navigate through than it had been before. Which was why Emicho was not too surprised to find herself tripping over a small, shivering form. A small shivering form that looked suspiciously like Eclypse’s grunty. What was his name again? Zane, right.
“Oh, you poor thing...” The girl picked up the silver grunty, rubbing his head to try and get him warm again. “You’re getting lonely, aren’t you?” Looking around, Emicho spotted the bag, recognized it as Eclypse’s. Well, at least she knew she was heading in the right direction. “Here, Scruffy, you stay with Zane. Keep each other company while Eclypse and I are gone, ‘kay? This part of the forest is pretty dry, just stay around here.” Picking up Scruffy and hugging him tightly for a moment, she waved to both grunties and continued on her way, alone now.
The forest seemed much drearier now, with Scruffy gone. But the two grunties would be fine together, and, she thought with a grin, the fight wouldn’t be long. And she planned to win. The roses were her first clue to the clearing, specks of red among shades of green, and as she lightened her step to near silence, the twin blade got an idea. He’d said no rules- right? Then what she was planning on doing would be perfectly legal.
Taking care not to make a sound, so peered through the vines, and she was contented to know that she could clearly see the Wavemaster. Circling the clearing, making sure she was hidden by the vines, Emicho waited until she was behind the young man before leaping through the vines, blades drawn, slashing out at the hopefully unaware player. She landed near the center of the clearing, crouching down in an almost cat-like way. “Hello, Eclypse.” Her voice was bright and cheerful, a grin spreading across her face as the rain soaked her, plastering her hair to the black T-shirt under it, making the chains on her arms rattle softly. “Lovely night for a duel, eh?”

Eclypse - March 5, 2007 11:31 PM (GMT)
Battle Begin
Eclypse sat across from a large puddle with his legs crossed and his rod placed damply over his lap. He continued to wait patiently, gazing into the liquid surface with a purpose; he would use the puddle to see whatever may come from behind since Twinblades were known to make the first move in the most inconspicuous ways possible. Eclypse would be ready if his opponent was to come from behind. Twinblades had physical attributes that would leave the wave master at a disadvantage, along with the fact that even the lower level Twinblades seemed to be masters of absolute stealth and decisive tactics. The advantages the woman possessed would probably lead her to attacking first, immediately putting Eclypse on the defensive, which usually led to a sticky situation. The Wave Master did not possess very much physical strength or speed, but he had fairly good defense thanks to his magic, which would hopefully be able to assist him throughout the entire battle. After thinking this, the young man finally brought his focus back onto the puddle, knowing he wouldn’t be able to hear her approach with all the rain pouring down so loudly. He breathed calmly, ‘Concentrate, the odds are against you. If you can’t throw her off quickly and decisively then her strengths will over-power you. His conscious demanded his focus. Eclypse knew such things, he knew that, unfortunately, his magical abilities were limited and as such he needed to use that as his focal point during his battle.
He continued to remind himself time and time again his advantages as the rain slowly dissipated for a split second and then came again as strong as ever. The rain’s tiny amount of hesitation bothered Eclypse, thinking the rain shouldn’t have stopped at all since he would be dwelling on some form of hope once it stopped, and felt a little better in the morose forest for a split second. Then the rain continued, ripping the hope from him like he was nothing and then throwing him out in the darkness. The simile felt brutal in his thoughts, but that’s how the rain made him feel and it seemed as though the entire Delta was slowly taking away any happy thoughts he previously had. The reasons; for one, Eclypse loved light rain showers in the middle of a warm beach, but not horrible rain that seemed to way down a person’s body like this. Destructive lightning seemed to encircle the battle field as though it were anticipating the coming battle. The next reason was that he had to leave his Grunty all alone during this perpetual storm. The last, he was sitting there, waiting to be attacked against an opponent who was probably much stronger then he was. ‘Focus!’ The demanding voice of his mind brought his attention back to the puddle.
He would be able to see her reflection if she was to attack him from behind since the puddle reflected all Eclypse’s background and allowed him to depict anything out of the ordinary. He noticed a shudder throughout a dead tree’s shadow. ‘I suppose that applies as unusual.’ He deduced thoughtfully, keeping his eyes upon the puddle to confirm his thoughts. The verification came when he noticed a small vine trembling and then become still once more. ‘God. She’s so quiet.’ He thought slowly with reverence towards her speed and stealth, but Wave Masters weren’t stupid and he hoped that she knew it would take more then just quiet moves to defeat him. If not, then this would be a boring battle, simply because he wanted to fight her in order to learn all he could about the tactics of Twinblades. He planned to move onto different classes once he battled her, hoping that someday he would become strong enough to rival even a Heavyblade at the same level and possibly win. Unfortunately, Wave Masters were generally weak in some aspects and overpowered by the physical skills most other classes possessed, but that was the exact reason he chose the Wave Master class. He wanted to know that he could win anything, even when all the odds were against him, and he had to join the weakest division if he planned to obtain such a state of capability.
‘Alright. It’s time. You can do this! He had given himself some fairly uplifting thoughts as he readied a spell. He didn’t know exactly when she’s come and he’d hopefully not have to wing his planned action. In order to make she did not see him move, the Wave Master did not show any indication that he was doing anything while he tightened his grip on the cold Rod’s center. He probably wouldn’t be able to rely on the puddle any longer since, in his current position, the puddle would not help him see what was directly behind if she was to move in too close. The angling he had chosen was to see things behind him from afar and then have time to prepare, but he did not expect the speed of his opponent and had no time to position himself differently unless he wanted to blow his pretend clueless-ness. It would have been easier if he were facing any other class, one that wasn’t based on speed, but unfortunately he had to act fast, regardless of his blind spots. Eclypse closed his eyes, they would not help him here for the time being ‘She’s fast, but she must have faltering qualities in her stealth. No one it absolutely quiet.’ He thought to himself. ‘Listen! Passed the roaring thunder, the beating rain, concentrate only on your opponent.’ He breathed slowly, trying to embrace anything that wasn’t the default settings of the Battle field.
“Clingel-clink…” A new sound. His eyes opened in sudden astonishment; his ears had become magnified by his thoughts and the only sound other then rain and thunder was a subtle ‘Kling’ His thoughts raced around this new sound; a reverberation of some sort…A chain maybe, something metal clanking about during the girl’s quiet movements. ‘Emicho’s Chains!” A depiction of Emicho’s beautiful appearance came about his thoughts and he remembered that she had light chains running down her arms. Her stealth was absolute, and would have been practically flawless if it weren’t for the girl’s chain, which was the only thing that the boy could think of that could have possibly been making such a metabolic sound. For a moment, he thought about Emicho as her image from his last quest came about his mind; she was nice, cool, strong, and took the initiative. [i]‘Cling-Clingel.’ Another sound from Emicho’s chains made Eclypse center his thoughts back on the sound, knowing that he would probably lose the resonance if he didn’t keep all his concentration absolute. His focus had led to the chains being the only thing he currently heard. ‘Cling. The sound came closer and closer until it was practically on top of the Wave Master.
“Gan Zot.” Eclypse spoke once the time had come. He could feel the Gan Wave fluctuate about the ground around hi, as the spell made the soil crumple, abrasively raising the earth behind the Wave Master in order to shelter the boy’s body. Eclypse could only guess that his opponent had made an attempt to attack him, finding that his ground ascension spell had been met abruptly by the sound of blades slamming sternly into the raised ground. Emicho’s attack had been blocked, regardless of her attempt; not many blades could slice through thick, hardened surface and still simultaneously hit their opponent. So, the young man was able to pull himself up, unscathed for the time being. He turned around, brushing the dirt from the back of his clothing while witnessing the result of Emicho’s attack and Eclypse’s spell. It was lucky for Eclypse that her blades had not driven too deep and that he had used the blocking extent of his spell to its fullest or else he might’ve faced a nasty cut upon his scalp.
By now his opponent had landed near the center of the clearing, crouching down in an almost cat-like position saying “Hello, Eclypse.” With a fairly easy going, cheerful grin spreading across her face. Eclypse would not let the fact that the rain had soaked her black T-shirt distract him. He noticed her chains rattling softly at the sides of her arms. That made him smile; the chains had saved him from a brutal attack. He looked back at her seemingly vibrant face as she said “Lovely night for a duel, eh?” It most definitely was not lovely at all, in fact, it was absolutely gloomy and fairly aggravating. He wondered if the girl enjoyed the rain and whether she was cold at all, her shirt indicated his notions, but he wasn’t going to get into that. The Wave Master planted his feet sternly upon the ground, bringing his weapon in front of him as he readied himself for the upcoming battle. He would be attack this time in such a way to make it hard for her to receive a close range advantage; that way she would not be able to touch him with those blades.
“Definitely,” He lied with a grin and continued “I hadn’t considered you the ‘cheap attacks’ type at first,” He answered, a smiled still on his face. “I’m glad I thought against my feelings.” His smile faded into a smirk and his eyes moved towards her weapon of choice, weapons that he had previously seen in action during a quest when she began using the item to scrape the surface of a wall made entirely of ice. However, there were two other times he saw the weapons; the first time was when he was traversing the Xiao’s weaponry shop. There were Kais for sale there and, knowing he would probably fight this girl sooner or later, Eclypse had asked the Xiao to tell him about the weapon. ‘Aw yeah, great weapon,’ He had said simply and added. ‘Yeah, most people who wield Kais know the skill Saber Dance where they attack you multiples times. It’s pretty cool stuff.’ The third time he saw the weapon was during a level five player versus player brawl. One of the fighters was a Twinblade and he had used the Saber Dance skill multiple times indicating that it probably didn’t take very much energy. ‘I’ll have to watch out for that technique or any other skills she may have in her entourage.’ He thought uneasily, keeping his gaze towards the weapon. “Anyway, let’s get this going shall we? I have a little Grunty waiting for me.” His attention was brought back to the full view of his opponent; pointing his weapon of choice forward.
“Juk Rom.” The young man sternly planted his sandals upon the cold ground, turning his torso and firing a wave of elemental towards his opponent. The attack produced chunks of wood, all of which were circling through the air, and they would continue to do so until the tornado made contact with its opponent. Initiating the wave from Juk Rom felt so comfortable opposed to his last spell since this specific enchantment took a little more movement, less energy, and allowed him to take the initiative. He had used all his spells at least twice since he first logged into The World and he had to admit that Juk Rom was probably his favorite. The quick blast of rotating elemental had now fully dispersed from his Rod in a wave of magical power. The Tornado was made of Wood, but it also seemed to have other debris inside of it like rain and leaves. The monstrous vortex knew its destination. This specific Juk Rom was meant to falter any attacks her opponent planned or was about to initiate; being a Wave Master, he needed to take the initiative and move right into offense or else she would be able to get close and her attacks would probably overpower him.
