In short, Rank is what defines your level of status. It shows others how old or how wise you are. In other cultures, your status is based off of how much you weigh, also, it is how much money you have, and then there are cultures that your rank is based off of experience and knowledge combined with duration. That is what the AOD runs off of.

There are many ranks in the chain of command, those of Officers and Enlisted, and even a specialty structure called the “Warrant Officers’, all in which will be explained in due time. All personnel in the Army of Darkness will have rank, no matter how high or low their level, and no matter how long or short they have been in the clan. Rank is what divides leaders from followers, and this is the way that the rank proceeds through and through.

Starting with the enlisted side of the rank structure, it starts with the Field Troop tier with the titles; Private, Private (2), Private First Class, Corporal, and Specialist.

Private (E-1): This is the Basic and lowest level of rank, it is what everyone starts out with. As a Trainee during your Basic Training scenario’s you are considered a ‘Private’ and awarded the rank posthumously. You are only responsible for what you are ordered to do, and your actions will only involve specific orders from Officers, NCOs’, and other personnel appointed over you. Upon entering the Army of Darkness and graduating Basic Training the personnel will receive the next highest rank…

Private (E-2): Also known as Pv2, a 1-stripe-er. Personnel achieving this rank have met the requirements from their Basic Training instructor and have been allowed entrance into the Army of Darkness. Upon Graduation from Basic Training you are awarded this rank posthumously. Your roles and responsibilities include doing as you are told, and taking orders. You are a follower, not a leader. You are still in the learning process, and still seeing how the Army works. You are also to do as ordered by Officers, NCOs’, and other personnel appointed over you.

Private First Class (E-3): You are what is known as the PFC. Achieving this rank consists of gaining only 2 levels from the level you initially had upon entrance to your Basic Training quest. This rank is still a follower, you are still in the learning process, but learning how to become a leader on a very low level. You still take your orders from Officers, NCOs’ and personnel appointed over you. You must PM the Commander a link to the quest(s) that earned you the 2 levels, he will then award you your new rank.

Specialist (E-4): Upon gaining an additional 2 levels from that of what you had when you gained the rank of PFC, you will be awarded this rank. Same applies for how it will be acknowledged. You are now in the leading position, even as a Field Troop. You are a leader amongst the troops in the case a Corporal is not around, or in the case that none are appointed over you and the followers. While a leader, still a follower and a learner. In this stage you should have developed your leadership skills and may be able to conduct a small scale quest with other members on your own. You are responsible for those under you, and still responsible for orders given by those appointed over you.

Corporal (E-4): This is the first rank of the NCO’s, but still a field troop at the same time.  Upon achieving Specialist, you may submit a resume of your leadership development to the Commander, also, upon finalizing your latest quest you may request that the Commander grade it for competence, and your leadership roles, as well as grammar, spelling, and continuation. If the Commander sees’ fit that you have in fact developed into a leader, you will be appointed a ‘Corporal’ and receive your NCO status. You are still the pay grade of E-4, and not a full scale leader just yet, but you are well on your way. You are responsible for all troops underneath you, as well as taking orders from Officers, and NCOs’.

The Enlisted rank structure, while workers all, is also made of Non-Commissioned Officers whom achieve status as supervisors, and have different levels of leadership to handle. They are all responsible for the troops directed under them, and take their orders from NCOs’ higher ranking, and from all Officers. There are two tiers for this level of the Enlisted Rank structure; Junior NCOs’, and Senior NCOs’. The junior level is as follows;

Sergeant (E-5): Plainly named, a Sergeant is capable of taking a team of ‘follower’ type troops in through a full scale quest. They have what it takes to be a leader, and is appointed as such. They are fully responsible for all actions, good or bad, of the personnel directed under them, and they are also responsible for making and obeying lawful orders. To achieve this rank, the personnel in question will submit their last 3 quests following after they have achieved Corporal to the Commander. All aspects of a leader will be discussed with a Board of Promotion consisting of the troops Immediate Supervisor (Squad Leader), the Commander, and his Operations Officer. They will decide whether the personnel has what it takes to be a Sergeant, if selected then the personnel will be awarded such the rank and congratulated on their achievement via PM from their Squad Leader. Additionally, a Sergeant may be appointed a Staff position as an NCOIC of a certain department, but still be expected to do his or her regular duties as well.

Staff Sergeant (E-6): A rank that is as it says, a Sergeant in Staff. They are primarily responsible for directing Sergeants and below by proper Lawful orders. Also responsible for following orders from Senior NCOs’ and Officers, a Staff Sergeant is allowed to redirect a task given to him or her, but not to avoid, but to make simple the task and to busy-up other lower ranking personnel without un-busying themselves. They are appointed as Supervisors of a Fire Team, and are capable of conducting full scale quests with an entire team of personnel. They achieve this rank by showing furthermore development in not only Leadership, but character-wise as well. The personnel in question must submit 3 more quests from whence they became a Sergeant, and endure a board of promotions that will consist of the same members of the Chain of Command, except they will be more ‘pickier’. The Squad leader will congratulate your achievement and award you your rank. You are also able to be appointed as an NCOIC of certain departments, and still be able to do regular duties.

Along with the Junior NCOs’ comes the Senior NCOs’. These members are appointed above all other personnel because they have shown excellent achievement and perfect leadership ability. Promoting to these ranks is always handle in a ‘Case-by-case’ perspective.

Sergeant First Class (E-7): A prestigious rank, this one adds more to responsibilities. The individuals with this rank are now primarily supervisors over Staff Sergeants and certain Sergeants within the Squads. They are allowed all of the benefits of a Staff Sergeant, as well as the fact that they can (with permission via Ops Officer or Commander) deal out punishment for misbehavior or other things as seen feasible from their point of view.

Master Sergeant (E-8): Members with this rank will primarily work along side the Sergeant Major, to whom they will be learning how to do the Sergeant Major’s job. A Master Sergeant is to enforce discipline for members underneath him. As with E-7’s being allowed the use of punishment, a Master Sergeant is able to punish even a Sergeant First Class, and other Master Sergeants. Also allowed the benefits of Staff Sergeants and below, a difference is that they only take commands from the Sergeant Major, and Officers appointed over him, no one else.

Sergeant Major (E-9): God in boots, if you will. A Sergeant Major is near untouchable, unapproachable, and uncorrectable. They are the over seer of all enlisted members, as well as the liaison between the Command element and the Soldiers. If something needs to be changed in the enlisted forces’ work place, or if there is a suggestion that is valid that a soldier may have, the Sergeant major is the one who will primarily suggest it to the Ops Officer and above. There is not much more to be said of the Sergeant Major, they do as they please, and can command an entire division of troops underneath them if need be.

With that, the Enlisted Force Structure promotion board is complete, any further questions about the enlisted structure should be pointed towards the Commander.

Now to continue with the Officer rank structure.

An officer is held to a prestigious level, higher than that of even Sergeant Majors. All officers start at Second Lieutenant and continue on upwards through the line. The three types of officers are the Field Grade officers, Company Grade officers, and General Grade officers. Of course, the highest that any rank will go is the Commanders rank, unless a promotion is given to former commanders in recognition of their performance and ability to lead the AOD from times passed. The rank structure for the Commissioned Officers are as follows.

Field Grade Officers:
Second Lieutenant (O-1): Platoon Commanders are normally Second Lieutenants. They are in charge of 2 or more squads of troops and they answer to their Company Commander, in most cases. Since they are new to the Army, they are now learning the use of authority and aren't given too much responsibility.

First Lieutenant (O-2): These can also be Platoon Commanders. They have the same type of responsibility as a Second Lieutenant, but since they are STILL learning the use of authority, they aren't given too high of a responsibility, still a little more than an O-1 would have.

Captain (O-3): A Captain is normally a Company commander due to the nature of the position. Captains are still training to become Company Grade officers, but being closer to the promotion than an O-1 or O-2, they are given leading positions for the training of authority for future use.

Company Grade Officers:
Major (O-4): Within a squadron there are Companies, in most cases there are 2 to 6 Companies per each Squadron/Battalion. Since the AOD is a lesser Squadron, there aren't as many Companies to command, and as with such, there aren't many Majors to belong in the AOD. A Major is in-lieu of his own Squadron/Battalion commander's orders, and is usually told what kind of orders to give to his own personnel underneath him.

Lieutenant Colonel (O-5): These are what's known as the Squadron Commanders/ Battalion Commanders, whom command those underneath him within his own section. The AOD is currently in a smaller Squadron format, and as with such, taking on the hierarchy of a Squadron. Lt Col's have the responsibility of the care and upkeep of each member within his squadron/battalion, and are the over all authority when anything is in doubt. They are the final say so for the squadron, but must route other situations up his own chain-of-command when situations are out of his control. He is ordered by the Commanders above him, and gives orders to anyone below him.

Colonel (O-6): These are Regiment Commanders, a regiment is made of atleast 2 Battalions or Squadrons. The AOD is working itself up to this type of Command level, but is currently not there.

General Grade Officers:
Brigadier General (O-7): These are normally Brigade Commanders (Base Commanders), but the Major General rank can also fulfill this position. They are in charge of the Officers and organizations underneath them. The AOD is not currently a Brigade.

Major General (O-8): These are normally Department Commanders, which are over specific departments that specify only a certain aspect of the Army. Such Departments could be the Provost Martial Commander (MP Commander), or the Commander over Health & Welfare organizations within the Army. They can also be Brigade Commanders

Lieutenant General (O-9): These are Commanders of an Numbered Army and work directly under the command of a MAJCOM. The AOD currently is not a Numbered Army.

General (O-10): These are Commanders of Major Commands (MAJCOM), the AOD currently does not have a Major Command.

It has been decided that all promotions from the Enlisted force structure to the Officer structure shall be handled as a ‘case-by-case’ situation. No two promotions to Officer status shall be documented in the same manner, per se, if one person gains rank due to outstanding recognition, there is high disbelief that another personnel shall be able to gain Officer status for the same reason.

Along with this, promotion within the Officer structure shall also be handle as a ‘case-by-case’ situation, it could be for reasons such as the person in question is well passed due for a promotion, the AOD has grown larger so there is a need for a higher rank, or even if said officer has done something out-freakin-standing and deserve a promotion for it. Again, promotions on the Officers’ side will not go any higher than that of a General (O-10), and anyone below the Commander will not be awarded rank higher than the Commander.

And another side note: aside from those certain positions, there is also a position named the General of the Army, which is a special rank in itself. It is explained as the most prominent spot in the military, as they are known by their 5 stars in circle, they are even higher than a General officer (O-10). With Generals commanding their troops abroad the world, a General Officer was needed to achieve compliance within all groups of the Army. This position was appointed by the President, and granted the General a spot in history not to be forgotten. This Rank will NOT be given to any member of the AOD, not to your current leader, not to your past leader, and not even to the leading founders of the AOD.
