Current Participants: Aiko. Exangelus. Ezekial. Hyruji. Kulotsuki. Sydofh.

Okay. From here on out the RD members involved with the quest can post here dealing with it. So that means that only the following members should post here: Aiko, Exangelus, Ezekial, Kulotsuki, and myself. Hyruji may talk to me through AIM and PM dealing with the quest.

First post will be made September 10 unless something prevents me from getting on the net that day. The post won't be very long this time around so little reading will be required.

There is no strict posting order for The Ophidian Staircase. I'll post. Everyone else posts. I'll post and the cycle continues like that. Depending on where we're at I'll allow a week or so for everyone to make their post. So hopefully I can depend that you guys/gals will be active enough to post once a week, maybe even twice if we move fast enough.

I'll give you the info you'll need once I make the first post. Until then I'll accept any questions, thoughts, or worries about anything related to the quest.

That is all.

Exangelus - September 6, 2005 12:18 AM (GMT)
Sure, I'll just toss a question out there. For kicks, perhaps?

I know you said you'd explain in the post, but I feel nosy and driven to do the exact opposite of what you've told us. What exactly is this... 'ophidian staircase'? Is that the mystery of the quest? If not, would you mind explaining the general setting of the quest? From the banner, I get the feeling of grandeur and lots of it. Is the staircase going to be the main battleing area?

Just wondering about the quest environment, really. Any info on that would definitely help me get my first post and mind set well-articulated.

Sydofh - September 6, 2005 12:47 AM (GMT)
The Ophidian Staircase is just a very very general description of the field. There really won't be a huge mystery because as we go along I'll pretty much give you guys the heads up on what's going on outside of your characters.

I will say it'll be very space-like and the environment will have variations throughout the quest. As for detailed descriptions, you'll just have to wait till my second post. The first post will set up for you guys to meet to go on this quest. That's why it'll be rather short.

Hope I answered your questions at least to an extent.

Exangelus - September 7, 2005 07:26 PM (GMT)
Yes, t'will tide me over til your post. Thanksabunch.

Sydofh - September 9, 2005 02:24 AM (GMT)
I posted...two days early. I did this because Hyruji said he's this close *makes gesture with hands* to finishing his solo and he was the only one I was waiting for. So we begin.

Now, basically you guys just need to meet wherever. The first poster can decide that. And whoever posts last - if you don't have the party go to the field than I can go ahead and just have you guys go to the field in my post.

Ok. Questions or comments anyone?

EDIT: Thought I'd mention it again. The five of you have a week to post. I think that's more than enough time to write something.

Exangelus - September 9, 2005 02:44 AM (GMT)
High Five!

*looks around, people staring*

*drops hand and walks away*

Sydofh - September 10, 2005 05:47 PM (GMT)
Great. Everyone is up and posting. Aiko's solo is finished so we'll wait (patiently) for that to be graded. I'll start working on the second post soon so that way I won't stall anything. By the way, I did catch a mistake I made in my first post. In the Flash Mail I referred to Kulotsuki by that name instead of his IC name Dark Jester. Sorry about that.

Kulotsuki - September 11, 2005 12:26 AM (GMT)
no worries. since I'm like the only person who's IC name isn't their board name.
and can we hope that you'll actually be in it?

Aiko - September 11, 2005 01:51 AM (GMT)
My post is ready and waiting. I probably won't be able to post it tomorrow, even if my quest is graded. It's a lot easier for me to post on weekdays than the weekend. Everyone's waiting for me. Why does that not surprise me?

It's ok Aiko. *reasurring pat on the back* But for the safety of your life... *turns away from the rest of the clan* [whisper]I wouldn't let it happen again.[/whisper]

There are quite a few... As for me actually being in it, I don't really know. For the most part I'm going to be making things up as I go along. So you never know.

Aiko - September 13, 2005 12:15 AM (GMT)
*looks at Exangelus. Ezekial. Hyruji. Kulotsuki and Sydofh* Sorry guys.I didn't know it would take this long to get a quest graded. It's already been 3 days, and who knows how much longer it will take. Thanks for being patient (I think)

Exangelus - September 13, 2005 12:23 AM (GMT)
I'm not completely sure on this, but I don't think that you have to have your quest graded to participate in another quest... I think, if the quest is officially over (between you and your questmates), that you can move on, because your IC character is out of that quest.

Not sure, but I'll verify.

Ezekial - September 13, 2005 04:05 AM (GMT)
Ex made a topic in the Questions and Comments board concerning your little dilemna.

And, actually, Rayo brought up something that caught my eye. Have you PMed one of the grading mods? Like Cypher or Rayo? I only ask because they are usually very punctual about grading quest, and, as Rayo mentioned, they won't grade it unless a PM is sent.

Also, if you did Pm them, you might want to send another message, just in case. The first might have been accidentally deleted, or just plain missed.

Aiko - September 13, 2005 06:38 AM (GMT)
Thanks Exangelus ^_^

Yes I did. Almost right after this quest began, I ended my solo and sent the PM. Everythings looked at. I'll post as soon as I can. Probably after my classes later today.

Exangelus - September 13, 2005 08:40 PM (GMT)
Not a problem at all. From now on, Aiko, you are part of us, and (at least I) treat members as family. Anything that can be done will be.

But now I sound corny, don't I? :D

Anyway, Sydofh, I was just wondering how the quest posting will work... since your IC character isn't technically in the quest itself, how will this play out in your writing, or will there be any more? If not, who wil be informed of plot changes, etc.? If you will be posting, will you ever be on IC?

Questions like that...

Sydofh - September 14, 2005 02:00 AM (GMT)

Of course I'll be posting. Basically, you all post and then I'll post. The posts I'll be making won't include my character since he won't be involved, which you already know. However, my posts will include plot changes, details, reactions and consequences of what actions you all take, and tidbits of what's going on elsewhere as in the beginning of my first post. Really I'm doing it just like Kiwi is doing with Town of the Cards.

If you will be posting, will you ever be on IC?
Since my character is elsewhere in the world (not the game word either <_<) there won't be any posts IC for me.

Expect the second post to come Thursday unless other things IRL arise.

But now I sound corny, don't I?
Just a tad bit. :D

Sydofh - September 16, 2005 04:38 PM (GMT)
I worked Thursday, which I didn't know until Wednesday afternoon, so sorry the post wasn't made yesterday. And to let you all know, I'll be starting to write post numero dos here in a few minutes. Hopefully all the variables will fall into place and I'll get it done and posted before I head in for work tonight.

((And yup. I know it's a double-post. I also like long walks on the beach and...))

EDIT: Ok. Posted. It's not as long as I thought it might have been. This is due to me changing what I had originally planned.

And to mention, you guys and gal each get one or two actions per post. It's up to you really. Just don't go doing and seeing everything in the post. This way each person gets to do something different in a situation where there are multiple things to be noted or done. If you don't understand what I mean read my post and that should explain what I'm talking about.

If not... Then ask me PM/AIM and I'll clarify some more. Questions and comments?

Exangelus - September 16, 2005 08:03 PM (GMT)
*gazes at the multitude of provoking situations*

Are there any preset 'events' that will happen once a person lights said unlit candle or opens said unopened curtain?

Ezekial - September 16, 2005 08:30 PM (GMT)
There better be, otherwise I lit that candle for nothing...

In some cases, yes. But other times I may just give details for you guys to be creative with and perhaps give me new ideas. Good job to everyone so far for adding in all the blanks that I leave. If time allows and other real life stuff allows I'll work on a post today and'll have it up tonight. If not, I'll push myself to get it posted tomorrow night at the latest. You're all keeping incredibly active and I don't want to break this rhythm... ^_^

That is all.

EDIT: I'm pretty much all decided that I plan on moving. I can't take my mother's shouting matches any more. So...I'll still get a post done asap but for the time being I can't make any promises as to how active I'll be.

Exangelus - September 28, 2005 07:45 PM (GMT)
I hate to ask this, cause I know you just had family issues and moved and stuff... but... You gonna be good to post soon, Sydofh?

But really, I suppose you have to...

Sydofh - September 28, 2005 10:35 PM (GMT)
Yeah. I have like 25% or more done and I'll be working on it tonight. I'm good to have it done very soon. Sorry for the wait...

Sydofh - October 5, 2005 02:23 AM (GMT)
Posted at last! Now...

Basically you guys can go to any of the rooms on the map, etc. Make up whatever you like and go into as much detail as you want. I didn't describe the foyer for those reasons. But if you don't know what a certain room is then don't describe it and I'll give the jist of it in my next post. Also, you guys can go solo, split in groups, or stick together. It'd be faster if you split in some manner or went solo but it's up to you all.

I'll also be placing the maps on the first page of this topic in addition to the URLs being provided in the TOS post.

EDIT: To note, I removed the parts in the first two posts about Kevin. See, I originally had the story involving him and a virus or what have you but decided to go with something totally different. And so I just ripped em out cause they had no effect on your posts and so they won't be missed. Enjoy the new storyline, which none of you know about! Muahahaha!

Ezekial - October 5, 2005 03:45 AM (GMT)
See, the downside to you posting, is now I have to post. You evil fiend, you!

Exangelus - October 11, 2005 01:28 AM (GMT)
Jus to clear things up, if anyone caught it, that the first description in Sydofh's second post is a little different than the maps he provided. We've discussed this (Sydofh and I), and we should just use the maps.

In the slight case that anyone is as investigative and meticulous as I am, I'm just posting that so that our quest has the highest possible uniformity.

Exangelus - October 12, 2005 08:53 PM (GMT)
*takes a deep breath, prepares to double-post*

Sorry about the uber wait guys... I finally posted last night at the distress of my mother, finding me still up at 11:00 to post it. I've been extraordinarily busy recently... I've had basically no free time, having work and clubs and wrestling practice and homework and all of that... But I promise I'll be much punctual with my posting from now on.

Aiko - October 13, 2005 11:20 AM (GMT)
I've noticed everyone posted and are once again waiting on me. I'm sooo sorry. Had a busy week, 2 tests and a project due :( I'll be able to get to it today *yay!*
Thanks for waiting ^_^

Okay, I just posted it. I apologize again for taking so long. I had to spen a bit more time in lab than I thought on Friday and was out of town over the weekend.

Sydofh - October 20, 2005 03:04 AM (GMT)
I should get a majority of my post written sometime tomorrow and possibly all of it. Right now I'm thinking about what will come next for the each of you.

Sydofh - November 8, 2005 01:36 AM (GMT)
Posted at last. Now, to mention a few things. The following is mentioned on the assumption that you've read my post...if you haven't...then do so before continuing.
  • I've left out a load of details in everyones situations. Some more than others. I'm leaving it up to you to determine what blanks you fill in and how far you take what I've written in your post.
  • The "others" descriptions aren't totally fleshed out for the most part. So if I left blanks, feel free to fill them in or leave me to. Either way is fine, since I have a mental image of each already in my mind.
  • Just to note - N cannot be physically touched. He's a ghost/spirit and nothing else.
  • The "others" cannot speak.
I'll add more if and when I think of them. Until then ask questions and point things out that I'm too tired to notice. Thanks.

Ezekial - November 8, 2005 03:15 AM (GMT)
I'd just like to say that this quest is taking a turn that I did not expect. Not even a little.

Also, I posted, too. I'm that quick.

That's what making things up on the spot will get ya. That and I for some reason thought of the movie 13 Ghosts (the remake cause I haven't had the chance to see the original.) Sure, piece of crap movie the remake was, but it was sorta unique in design and so I drew a little inspiration from it. But yeah, wanted to go in a different direction again...hope it turns out well. ^_^

And Ezekial...your post...is just awesome. Love how the fast-paced action plays out.

Exangelus - November 9, 2005 01:02 AM (GMT)
Interesting turn... but for better or worse?

*dun dun duu-u-uun*

They can't talk, huh? Damn, I thought I'd have a conversation with the girl. Have a nice little tea-party and chat about world politics over crumpets. *drops sadistic sarcasm*

*watches it scurry away*

... just to ask, we are supposed to fight them, right? Sorrow didn't really show open aggression to me, so I'm not sure... but I guess it doesn't matter now, anyway. I'm halfway into my post now, and she's already attacked. ^_^ I really hope so.

*jumps on sadistic sarcasm as it speeds by*

I'll have my post up later tonight. I shall edit and inform you when...

Edit: And here I am informing you that I have posted.

Kulotsuki - November 9, 2005 03:01 AM (GMT)
ooooh. I really like where this is going. It's just my luck that I did what I wasn't supposed to do, and ended up in one of the two safest places. I'd hate to make any predictions now, but I can't wait to see how this turns out.

Side note: damn you and your not able to hurt the N personess! It seems like you're prejudiced against hurting innocents.

Aiko - November 9, 2005 12:27 PM (GMT)
I'm slowly working on my post. Trying to decide what's gonna happen. It might take me a little longer than usual because I'm not able to type a lot of it at school because my stupid computer in the lab decided to catch a virus and kill my jumpdrive. I'm now only able to write it at home *sigh*

I'll post it as soon as I finish ^_^ It's getting interesting

Oh yeah, Ex, I'm playing a flute... not a violin

Rude - November 9, 2005 02:13 PM (GMT)
Just wanted to say I'm loving the quest as a spectator and just wish I could have been in it. Definately look forward to the next quest :)

Yeah. Their main point is to kill you, which is pretty much explained by the little intro with The Master. And your post is good. I see no problems and nothing interferes with the plot and plot points I have in mind. I'm working as much off what you guys write as you do mine.

P.S. Actually, two errors. It was a flute she was playing. However, perhaps Aiko could have in her post that the other instruments begin playing on their own? Just an idea. The other is that you have "shit" instead of "shot" in your post near the end. I usually don't mention spelling or typo errors but this one stands out like a sore thumb. But, I know what you mean so you don't need to edit your post.

Glad you're all getting as excited about this as I am. I think me taking the story in a more action-oriented direction is for the better. Keeps the pace moving and prevents the story from overcomplicating itself. And trust me, you'll get a piece of the action at some point.

It's ok Aiko. I can always work around your writing schedule if I have to. Although I didn't give you too much to work with in my post, but I guess that gives you more freedom in yours. Just have fun with it.

Glad to hear. And you are coming along on the next quest. I demand it!

Now...I wait for more posts to read and new ideas to come to mind.

I like it :P I'm seeing what gonna happen now. Thanks for the thought. It really helped.

Exangelus - November 9, 2005 08:55 PM (GMT)
I will definitely change that typo shit. (heh heh, that was bad grammar/pun... i crack me up)

I'm not sure why, but I did say violin, didn't I? ... wait, i know why! I got this! Beethoven, I was listening to Beethoven! When I was typing last night, I put that on because classical music fit in with the instrumental theme, and I guess I just kinda forgot... it was a piece of the concerto, and I just got lost in it. The high E was part of the song too. But I guess it worked out in the end... kinda. Thanks for working around it, guys.

I would have made my post better, but I had to hurry because I had a big assignement to the day after (today) and I had to write three things for it... but I'll just leave it as-is. No sense making y'all read it again.

Ezekial - November 10, 2005 05:13 AM (GMT)

Seriously, that is some of the best writing I have seen in a long time.
