Not that I expect this to be breaking the news to anybody seeing that it may be a while before anyone actually reads it, but I fealt it would be fitting given our roots to announce that Robert Jordan has passed away.
On Sunday, RJ died from the blood disease that we have known about for the last couple of years.
RJ always said that if he were to pass away before the series was finished then we would never know the ending. However, the reason he said this was because he didn't want some lunatic to off him so that the series would end quicker. Per his blog at Dragonmount it was reported that not that long ago RJ spun the tale to Harriet and his good friend in perfect gleeman fashion, and he has also been recording conversations about the series so I believe that the series will be finished. RJ wanted to finish the series more than anything, and those that loved him would not let the series go unfinished. It is what he would have wanted.
The projections that I am hearing is that the final book should be finished some time in 2009. It will be a great day for RJ and his loved ones to see the series finished and his legacy complete.
Hullo, Mat!
I pop in here every now and again to clean out the spam ads and stuff.
I'm glad the series will finally get the ending it deserves. I can't wait :)
He's pretty awesome, and I enjoy his writing. While I wish RJ could have lived to finish his work, I think Sanderson will do it justice.
