Title: UT2004

kundor - February 18, 2004 03:17 PM (GMT)
What's there to say? It's better than Unreal Tournament 2003, and it has vehicles, which from playing the demo extensively I can tell you are a lot of fun.

Not to mention "And the best CPU for UT2004 is an Athlon 64. The frame rates of a 2GHz Athlon 64 are double those of a 2.5 GHz Pentium 4." (source: the Inquirer) :mischief:

AMD rocks. And since they're publishing an AMD64-specific linux version, me not buying it would be like refusing a game custom-made for my computer.

Sounds similar to Battlefield 1942

Well, they're both first-person shooters, but where Battlefield 1942, as I understand, is a realistic military sim, UT is a futuristic sci-fi type thing with a lot more jumping around and dying. Spawning is immediate so you just jump right back in. It's a lot more fun even if you're horrible because you don't have to wait around for a new round or something.

I've really never seen the draw of all the WW2-battle sims games. Why would we voluntarily put ourselves in the worst part of the human experience, for entertainment? It makes no sense.

Well I meant similar in gameplay, and Battlefield does allow you to respawn after death with a minimal wait.

It has ruined any online game I have played. It just seems like a waste of time if it isn't as fun as BF.

I, too, have the demo. I wonder what all the full version maps are like, especially for...say... Assault...

I have the full version :smug:

The maps are, y'know, cool. I haven't played too much assault though. I should, it's fun. as is onslaught. And mutant. Heck, they're all fun. This is really an excellent game.

And voice-commanding bots ROCKS! There is nothing more cool than watching a bot steal a plane you wanted and fly off in it, then saying "Bravo, get out."
After you watch them plummet to their doom, you go get your plane. Serves 'em right, greedy buggers.
