Title: Something's Got to Give
Description: movie review

This 2.5 hours romantic movie starts out as cute and sharp and actually STAYS that way throughout the entire movie. A rare this to say about "romantic comedies" nowadays.
The movie stars Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton in a story about 2 legally senior citizens who feel anything but who stumble across love just when they thought they were incapable of it. And of course, to make it funny...Jack Nicholson is dating Keaton's daughter when he meets her mother.
My only complaint was that the movie really was way too long. It was enjoyable but I obviously need an epic battle to keep my attention for longer than an hour and a half.
Anyway...the movie is good for couples b/c she will love the romance while he will love all the jokes poking fun at "old people's" problems.
I give this movie 4 cookies.

Something's Got to Give: Reviewer Review
Anyone that actually went to see this movie shouldn't have their opinion listened to, as they're clearly delusional. Therefore, rational people must immediately dismiss any reviews and rest secure in the knowledge that romantic comedies are crap.

:hail: and Kundor once again proves why moviegoers should be required to have a certain minimum amount of testoterone in their blood stream

it WAS a good movie...and PLEASE...if you boys haven't figured out the OBVIOUS benefits of going to a girly romantic feel good movie with your significant other...then you need serious help :|
here...I'll even give you a hint:
"Oh...I want to be kissed like that!!!"
omichyron - January 13, 2004 07:03 AM (GMT)
that sounds like a line from a p0rno film :hmm:

so merin thinks that dating couples should see pornos together...that'll certainly have a salutory effect on their developing young minds! :yeah:

<rolls her eyes heavily>
if you consider the loving and romantic kiss at the end of The Princess Bride as pr0nographic...then yes...that is what I am suggesting young people to do :P
Speaking of which...I watched that movie twice this weekend...and I cried at the end both times <sighs>
I'd kill for one of her royal dresses...

The princess Bride is NOT a romantic comedy! It's a comedic comedy, and hence a great movie.
However, it certainly has NO cause for crying whatsoever....that's inexplicable :\

...
um...LOL...The Princess Bride IS a romantic comedy.
It's about a man saving the woman he loves. It's the classic fairy tale. Hence why the story is told in fairy tale format, hence the fairy tale song during the credits...hence the lovey dovey stuff and him saving her and such.

It's not in the least a romantic comedy. It's an adventure, a drama, a fantasy film, and a comedy above all. There are moments that are SPOOFS of romantic comedies -- especially the ridiculously drawn-out and stupidly sweet segment at the end when whats-her-name falls onto the horse -- but they're meant just as that, SPOOFS, showing how stupid romantic comedies are.

falls onto the horse???
No, she is rescued from the tower by her one true love and floats gracefully down into Andre the Giant's arms. He then places her on her horse. Again, fairy tale.
And that kiss at the end is one of my all time favorite movie kisses
there are spoof elements but the whole point of the movie is for the two lovebirds to get together and live happily everafter. The whole movie is centered around their relationship.

you know who we should put to death? you two :stab: :mwaha:

The fact that you can watch that movie, and honestly think that that's what it's about, shows that you have a) NO understanding of sarcasm whatsoever, and B) are sickeningly saccharine.

most dramatic moment of the movie, Buttercup's "I *DIED* THAT DAY!" line said with complete sincerity. That wasn't a goofy moment. That honestly was a dramatic and authentic romantic part of the movie. The goofy moment came right after that when they both hurl themselves down a hill
