Merin got me hopelessly addicted to this game by mentioning it in an offhand comment on Gamecatcher :Q

I might as well give it a look. Keep an eyepatch out for me. B)

But the site says it's going to become a pay service... :(

Hey, wait a minute, now I have to download "Media," too? I thought the 12MB download was bad enough, but now I have to get a third download? "About 80 minutes remaining." :hmm

Darn, it won't let me use caps for K and D in KaneDragon. I wonder what my pirate name should be... Not that I have time to play this week. Maybe this Friday.

KaneDragon - October 9, 2003 01:58 AM (GMT)
Nogard. How dumb is that? Oh, wait, did I spell it "Nograd"? Even worse. Merin, are you listening?

Merin Sun - October 10, 2003 03:34 AM (GMT)
sorry :(

I sent you the PM :)

KaneDragon - October 10, 2003 12:44 PM (GMT)
Thanks, Merin. :)

I signed up for a Navy ship, but I wasn't too good at the puzzles. I gave up on carpentry (darn those pieces!) and tried my hand at sailing. I got "Good" at best, but usually it was "Fine" or below. :(

And I did not know what the heck I was supposed to do in the intro sword fight, and I tried to click on stuff to no avail. Now where am I supposed to go to figure out how to sword fight? I can't just challenge people. :ohwell:

I need a lot more practice.

Hmmm... Nogard or Kane. Kane or Nogard. Hmmm... :ohwell:

Wait a minute... which Time Zone are you in, Merin? If you be in Central, then I'm at 10 when you're at 9. If you be the next zone, I be 11 when you be 9.

omichyron - October 10, 2003 02:39 PM (GMT)
sword fighting is done with the arrow keys on the keyboard

and you can randomly challenge the computer controlled people (the ones with their names in gray) :)

Merin Sun - October 10, 2003 07:10 PM (GMT)
they look white to me ;)

Yeah, and some people are really nice and will let newbies challenge them so that they can get in fair practice...the bots cheat

As omi said, you change how the pieces fall by moving the arrow keys and you control the speed of the pieces falling by hitting the space bar.

The object is to create blocks and chains of the same color until a "Breaker" comes along of the same color. A blue sword <not contained inside a blue box) can only break a blue square and so on and so forth with the colors.

The bigger the block you make, the bigger the Silver sword you hit your opponnent with. I am sure by now that you have noticed these huge swords falling down on you, that is your opponent's strikes on you.

As you get more practice you will develop strategies.

As for the the other puzzles, practice really does help. Don't get discouraged with your ratings, you'll soon figure out through practice how to get a higher rating.

With bilging you want to bring together 5 of a kind and 3x4 and 3x5 and 3x3s.

Sailing you want to take slow at first, don't even use the space bar. And just think ahead and plan how you want to make a certain part of the puzzle disappear.

Finally, Good and Fair ratings are alright :). Poor and Booched are bad and Excellent is hard to achieve, the same with Incredible. You only get penalized by booching something <such as with sailing if you get a booch the ship's speed falls)

And, I like Kane better.

Nogard sounds like a defective deodorant :ohwell:

;)

Penfold the Small - October 10, 2003 09:17 PM (GMT)
I tried to play it but couldn't because of its huge size.

I posted a complaint at the PP forum though :D

KaneDragon - October 10, 2003 10:24 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I was pretty lucky that I just happened to have enough internet time to make the download. That's not too often. That took way too long. The java download should have been a regular file--that way, I would have been able to use my downloading manager (FlashGet) to resume the download over several days.

Kane, the bARbarian!
Kane, the destrOYer!

KaneDragon - October 10, 2003 11:03 PM (GMT)
It seems that if I wanted to play while logged on as a different user, I would have to download the HUGE download all over again. Darn. Not terminal, but would have been better the other way around.

And "Kane" is already taken. I knew I spoke too soon. :(

Enter: Dragonkane

Merin Sun - October 11, 2003 03:24 AM (GMT)
erm...why the download???

You get to have up to 3 avatars before having to delete one.

I have 2: Merina and Alicianda. One is extremely talented in all Pirating ways...and the other is just a newbie...

I got to have fun by challenging sword Masters to a fight...and then winning :D...even though my stats said that I just started...hee hee...

KaneDragon - October 11, 2003 12:56 PM (GMT)
Great, now I have two names to keep track of...

Merin Sun - October 17, 2003 07:13 PM (GMT)
Don't worry...I'm only on for Merina...but I created Alicianda just to make sure nobody stole that name :P

I do that for everything...heh...I'm such a dork.

omichyron - October 18, 2003 03:02 AM (GMT)
the on the next forum where I sign up it will be under the name of Alicianda :mischief:

KaneDragon - October 18, 2003 03:30 AM (GMT)
:scared:

Merin Sun - October 18, 2003 04:04 AM (GMT)
I will kill you Omi
