Okay, so I read Gilgamesh and had this huge discussion with people...and I made one observation that i would like to hear people's input on:

When Gilgamesh meets up with Immortal Guy <can't remember his name for the life of me...ummm...Kundor, a lil help???) and that guy tell Gilga. his entire story and how it would be terrible for him to revive his mortal friend.

And I summed it up as:

1)mortals view immorality as a blessing while immortals view mortality as a blessing. Think about it, immortals live while all that they love and know dies out. Mortals just don't know any better.

2)when a person views death they find out what immorality is. Mortality was shown before them, and yet they lived past it.

well, how off am I???

That's basically your standard "living forever is bad" message which you find in every modern stupid story, but I don't think that's what Gilgy is saying at all.

a) Humans can't become immortal. It can't be done, it's impossible, there's no chance in hell, just give it up already you stupid stubborn Gilgamesh! Your buddy Enkidu died, and so will you!

b ) the best you can do is to live life well, enjoy it, have fun, be a good friend, become wise, and leave the world a better place than you found it, if only by the largest and best-looking walls ever made.

c) wheee!

d) It's Utnapishtim, duh, it's the easiest name in the world to remember
