Title: Chatroom
Description: want one???
Merin Sun - August 29, 2003 05:33 PM (GMT)
I'm looking at this:
www.quickchat.org
easy enough...I just create a webpage for it, and set up a link on this board in form of a forum that will be a redirect to the webpage and you can chat :)
tell me what you think!!!

Would there ever be enough people on at once?
Merin Sun - August 30, 2003 02:20 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Kane :|
Matrim Cauthon - August 30, 2003 06:00 AM (GMT)
In answer to Kane's question....yes
Merin Sun - September 1, 2003 05:30 AM (GMT)
yeah...but I think for now, the link will send us to the original CC's chat room
how's that???
edit: nevermind, that won't work
Alright...I have the chatroom up :flash:

Look under archives, you just click the forum name and it'll take you to a webpage, then you click the link off of the webpage and there you are!!!

Why is it under archives?
Merin Sun - September 2, 2003 07:49 PM (GMT)
B/c I said so!!!
and b/c I didn't feel like creating a completely different area for it...
well...I suppose I could add it to the first category area...:hmm:
Also, I am very much aware that Java and Bravenet are terribly slow...this is temporary folks...if you know of a better chat please let me know
Or let me know if you would rather the redirect go to our old chatroom...

A better chat is IRC, just register a channel and boom a chat is ready.
you can get a free java client so people can log on through your website, or the people can just use sotmhing like xchat or mirc to connect to it.

Put a link up at the top, with Help and Search and stuff.
Yes, you can do that :P
Merin Sun - September 3, 2003 04:12 PM (GMT)
we have another option...
everyone must download MIRC and log into the irc.starchat.net network and then type in the channel area #cookiecabinet
it's already registered and everything...and until I find a free chat client...that's the way it'll have to be :s

All thanks to me :mischief:

IRC doth rather suck some major hindquarters :|
Matrim Cauthon - September 11, 2003 04:53 AM (GMT)
I've come to the realization that it would be easier to just get everybody's MSN screenie and go from there.
Oorla - September 11, 2003 06:11 AM (GMT)
KaneDragon - September 11, 2003 12:15 PM (GMT)
But I don't have an MSN screen name....

I don't care, but I stand by my above statement :stab:

The vast majority of the net uses AIM, not that crap MSN. :P
As for IRC, you don't have to use mIRC; netscape and mozilla, for example, have IRC clients built-in. So does Trillian. and there are several java irc portals all over the web, any of which you can use to come to #cookiecabinet.

saying the vast majority of the net uses anything produced by AOL instead of a product you're calling crap is extremely hypocritical :rant2:
:P
kundor - September 17, 2003 12:50 PM (GMT)
Hmm?
AIM is far more widely-used than any of the other networks.....:hmm2:
And I'm talking protocols here, not necessarily clients. I've never used the AIM client in my life (well, maybe once or twice.) But on trillian, and gaim, and what have you, I have about 50 people in my AIM contacts and about 5 in my MSN contacts, one of which I talk to.

I can't anyway. Rules at work :P

Is there a chat that currently is up?
