General Rules

1. While the rules of the forum are a little bit looser in this thread (ie trash talking and arguing) the majority of TCG rules still apply. There should be no profanity used here (Even is appropriate), discussion about alcohol, or drugs is also banned. Malach reserves to the right to monitor and end anything inappropriate.

2. Your chraracter does not nessacarily know what you know, Malach will be the judge of chracter knowledge. Addtionally you will not know what other characters are doing just because you are reading there thread. If someone is snkeaking up on you to kill you, I will determine if your chracter realizes this.

3. Please keep non-game chatter to the Discussion Thread.

4. If you do not post with in the contest for a 24 hour period, you character will be disqualified. This will not count on the weekend. If you know you will not be able to post for a given time, please PM me before had so we can work something out.

5. You may make secret pplans by PMing each other. My only request is that you include me in on all secret planning. Secrets sprng on this contest with out my knowledge will be squashed. Additionally, if you want to do something secretly without other knowing, PM, me (Ex. I want to sneak up on Oplasma and stab him). Also if a situation develops where I need to supply you with secret Information, I will PM you.

6. Each Character will have a seperate thread. There will be times when all characters are in the same thread, or 2 or more are in the same thread. That will all be determined by Malach and ease of game play.

7. Anything written in parenthesis () is consider out of character talk. Anything in quote (") means a chracter is speaking.

8. Malach is the final arbitrator of the rules.

RPG Rules

Not everyone doing this is as experienced with RPGS as others, so I will go into the basic mechanics of a RPG.

When I post an event in your thread, I need you chracters response to that event. I do not need you as a player to describe what happens, and what you do next.

Here are some examples:

Good

Malach: Ok, you open the door, and enter a dark stone room, immediatley 3 large spiders descend from the ceiling and head toward you. There is a wooden door on the opposite side of the room
Oplasma: I glance at the door to try to determine if it is locked, then draw a gun and fire it at the spiders.
Malach: You cannot tell is the door is locked. You fire a round at the first spider and hit, splattering it acroos the floor. The reamain two spider scuttle over and attempt to bite you, both are unsucessful.
Oplasma: i run to door and see if it is open
Malach: The door is open (it is still your action)
Oplasma: I run through the door and slam it shut.

Bad

Malach: Ok, you open the door, and enter a dark stone room, immediatley 3 large spiders descend from the ceilign and head toward you. There is a wooden door on the opposite side of the room
Oplasma: I shoot all the spiders, run through the room, opne the door on the other side, and continue on.

Do you see the difference. In the "good" example the chracters is reacting to what is going on. In the bad example, the character is dictating what is going one.

What is a GM Malach is the GM (Gamemaster). It is his job to present challenges and storyline to your chracters, detemine results of actions, play non-characters, creatures, etc. The GM is God. I am not your opponent, though I play them. If it seem I am being unfair to your chracters there are several reasons:

1. Your character made a really bad choice
2. Your character is being challenged
3. You are begin lead to a specific plot point

I am not biased, and I could care less who wins this. I want you guys to have fun.

Game Mechanics

I have decide to list the basic games mechanics of this contest, as it will help your characters determine what they can do.

Everything in this game is based upon you Attribute (STR, AG, END, AWA, INT, CHA). Based upon the score of these, there is an assigned number.

1: -4
2: -3
3: -2
4: -1
5: 0
6: 0
7: 1
8: 2
9: 3
10: 4
And so on.

This number in conjunction with a random roll of 1 - 10 determines how well you can do things.

Second there are things called target number ranging from 1 (easy) to 15+ (extremely hard). Obstacle are given those numbers.

Ex. Oplasma wants to try and pick a lock.

I rate the lock as a 10 to open (hard). I would find Oplasma AG score (which he is using to pick the lock). It is 8. That means he gets a +2 to do agility based skills (lockpicking). Oplasma also has a lock pick which gives him another +1 for a total of +3. A random number is chosen between 1 and 10, and it is 7. 7+1+2 = 10. The target was a 10. Oplasma picks the lock. If he had gotten say a 5. 5+1+2 = 7, he would have been unsucessful.

All skills are based on the attributes, it is pretty much common sense. Example:

Fast Talk = CHA
Resisting Poison = END
Sneaking = AG
Computer = INT
Lifting = STR
Searching = AWA

There are thousands of skills.

Next well will opposed skill checks. Oplasma wants to sneak up on Toyi. Again Oplasma's AG in 8, so he will be +2 to sneak, his random number is a 4, so 4+2=6.
That 6 in now Toyi's target number to detect him. Toyi's AWA is a 4, giving her a -1 to detect things. Her random number is a 5. 5 - 1= 4.

Oplasma 6 to sneak, Toyi 4 to detect, Oplama succesfulky sneak up on Toyi.

Combat work the same way.

First, I determine intiative. That is based on AG. Toyi and Oplasma are fighting. Toyi's AG is 5, Oplasma's is 8. Toyi get a 1+0(AG#)= 1. Oplasma gets a 7+2(AG#)= 9. Oplasma 9, Toyi 1, Oplasma gets first attack.

Oplasma decides to punch Toyi. I take his melee number and add it to a random 1-10 number. Oplasma's melle is a 2. He gets an 8 for the random. 8+2=10.

Toyi has a defense number. That number is 1. Random roll of 1. 1+1=2

Oplasma beats Toyi, hitting her. A fist does 2 points of damage from Oplasma. Toyi lose 2 health (has 8 remaining). Now it is Toyi's turn to attack. It keep goign utiol someone retreats, or dies.

Health. Health Determine how much damage you can take. It will look like this:

10/10.

The first number is your maximum health, the last is you current. If you r curetn health reaches 0 you are dead and out of the game.

Weapons

Just for a general idea:

A sword does about 6 damage
a .357 magnum 9.

Wealth: This determines how easy it is for your character to buy something. Same as skill. Target number vs. random number and wealth score.

Sanity: This is a number between 1 - 100. There are things that will cause tyou to lose sanity. There are incident where I will make sanity checks. If that check fails, you will go temporarily insane. If you sanity reaches 25 and you fail a check, you will go permantly insane and be DQ'ed. Sanity checks are done as follows. Oplasma has a Sanity of 95 (a very good grip). He sees a skeletin come to life. I would roll a random %. That random % is 31%, lower than the 95, therfore not going insane. Seeing the skeleton cuasies him to lose 2 Sanity points, lowering his sanity.

Magic: Being the real world, magic is not real (or is it)?

Going up a level:

There are times in the game, when I will post for you to go up a level. What that means is I need you to determine which ability you wnat raised by 1, and post that in the thread.

Also, when goign up a level, you gain the following. A random roll added to your health, and 2 Sanity Points.

Your Combat skill might go up, depending upon what you riase for attributes.

How to win . . .

While not revealing to much of the plot, here is some advice

1. Don't die
2. Don't go insane
3. The winner(s) will be the ones who accomplish a particular goal first (will be revelaed in the course of the game.
