Just tripped over this and it could be quite promising(if they don't butcher it).

Two New Anime Series Join Adult Swim
Cartoon Network has sent out a press release today announcing that they have acquired two new anime properties that will begin broadcasting on their Saturday Adult Swim programming block. Beginning November 6, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex will air Saturdays at 11 p.m. (ET, PT), and Fullmetal Alchemist will air Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. (ET, PT).

For information on Ghost in The Shell: Stand Alone Complex read this.

Full Metal Panic(2002):

Story:Sousuke Sagara is a guy around 16. He seems to have spent all his life in this secret military group. His squad, consisting Melissa Mao and Kurz Weber, has been called up after a mission in Russia to protect a high school girl in Japan. Her name is Kaname Chidori, she is 16 years old and seems to be the center of attention at her school. Chaos is the order of the day as Sousuke and Kaname are falling in love.
Enigma Commentary: Not the best series I have ever seen, but a farcry from the worst either. Watching Sousuke try to adapt to life in the real world is funny since he tends to overreact at the slightest little thing. Everything is some kind of military attack with this guy. While the series starts out very promising, I found myself getting bored with it towards the end.

If CN keeps up with the current trend of cutting down heavily on the butchering of their anime(See FLCL) then both of these shows should prove very entertaining....course that's a pretty big IF when it comes to CN. Only time will tell for certain.

Thanks for the info - my friend is VERY into GitS, i should tell her. She'd want to know if they butcher it ^_^

I haven't seen it - but then again, I haven't seen much of any anime lately.

NP, it's what I do.

Honestly the Adult Swim brand has been pretty decent in recent times about the handling of their series. Although Cowboy Bebop and was cut to pieces, other series like FLCL and Witch Hunter: Robin were given rather impressive treatment.

I am also a huge fan of GiTS:SAC and I find myself more concerned about the English Dub on this one rather than any prospects of butchering the series. It holds such amazing potential, but it could turn out like .Hack//Sign, which had an English Dub so bad it makes my ears bleed to this very day. :angel:

I have faith that CN - can - do a good job, whether or not they will is always the issue.

I haven't seen .hack//sign either.... so I can't really comment on that one ;)

By editing it so much that the story is fragmented and distorted.
