The other Transformers line launching next summer will be based on the recently announced animated series on Cartoon Network. The series, which is being animated at the CN studios, will incorporate more humor, more expressive designs and more self-contained storylines to make the show more easily accessible to old and young fans alike. The five Autobots are Optimus Prime (a semi), Bumblebee (a sports car), Bulkhead (a massive armored vehicle), Prowl (a motorcycle) and Ratchet (the grizzled veteran ambulance), although it has been confirmed that Grimlock and two other Dinobots will show up, as well as other new and familiar faces.
On the Decepticon side, we have Megatron (a vertical-takeoff Cybertronian fighter jet), Starscream (a jet), Blitzwing (a tank and a jet), Lugnut (a brutish bomber jet with bombs for hands) and Black Arachnia (a spider). Starscream will be voiced by Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), and Kenny is apparently doing his best to channel the voice of the late Chris Latta, who did Starscream’s voice in the 1980s cartoon. The Triple-Changer Blitzwing will suffer from multiple personality disorder, and will have a rotating set of faces that he will cycle through, even in toy mode. Megatron will get an Earth mode at some point in the series, and Black Arachnia is apparently of questionable allegiance.

The Autobots arrive in futuristic Detroit—now a center of robot production, instead of cars—in their ship, the small, messy Ark. They’re followed to Earth by the Decepticons (in their massive ship Nemesis) because the Autobots have come into possession of the Allspark, the source of all Cybertronian life. In Detroit, they make friends with scientist Isaac Sumdac and his daughter Sari, who live in Sumdac tower, and they protect the citizens from both the Decepticons and superpowered humans, including foes who shoot fire, acid and even arrows in the case of the Angry Archer (named for Transformers product manager Aaron Archer). The Decepticons may not play a large role in every episode, but when the writers do have them show up, it will be a big deal. There’s also a human army officer named Captain Fanzone.

The toys based on the series will follow the character designs with 90 percent accuracy, and they’ll be fully transformable. The first few assortments include: Cybertron Prime (Deluxe), Earth Prime (Voyager), Bumblebee (Deluxe), Bulkhead (Voyager), Prowl (Deluxe), Ratchet (Deluxe), Grimlock (Voyager), Megatron (Voyager), Starscream (Voyager), Lugnut (Voyager), Blitzwing (Voyager) and Black Arachnia (Deluxe).

Why do I see too much of Krypto the SuperDog in this?

Enigma Zero - July 11, 2007 05:49 PM (GMT)
I dunno, to me it looks to be more of a Teen Titans: More Than Meets The Eye vibe. =D

Oh god...and they're also making a new Spider-Man cartoon to boot. Is nothing sacred anymore?!?

The lack of self-contained storylines is one of my favorite parts of transformers :(
EDIT: Also the fact that it was not primarily comedic.

I really don't like the drawing -_- I which they made look more like Mega XLR

enigma is this an early april fools joke?

i hope that this is on teen titans level

but what did they find wrong w/ the old animations that made them look like robots instead of cheap super heroes

If you think this is bad.. your gonna freak when you hear about Alvin and the Chimpmunks: The Movie .

As for that animated Transformers thing, I bet it will end up being on Kids WB or Fo Kids.

I kinda like how they looked originally. Even though, I just saw the firtst 3 episodes on YouTube. I can't believe I wasn't born to see this. I only managed to see the movie that came out in July. I missed out big time.

So, growing with Tranformers: Movies, Animation, and Toys. I never really got a good handle on their continuity, well no wonder:

Someone really needs to take all this info and do a reconnoiter on it, and straighten it all up, this is worse the the DC universe.

I accidently watched this show with my son yesterday and saw what might be the ONLY episode of this show worth watching so far. They introduced Wreck-Gar and guess who did the voice? Yup....Weird Al Yankovic. This is the only the second episode I've seen from start to finish. I've seen most of them in a "few minutes here and there" capacity and...yeah...this is the only episode I've seen that didn't suck rocks through a paper straw. It's was genuinely funny and quite entertaining. :D

The series is alright & fairly good, I notice it has a hint of a comic book feel to it, more so then the past episodes.

I kinda easy on this show; I will say is an okay show, I stop by and watch it when my nephs are watching it but "Mua (Toyi pointing at herself)making the time to watch it? No way" is not that exciting like the old ones

Well at least is a show that surpasses our quality codes otherwise my nephs will not be allowed to watch yet.

I admit I miss the original show, which by the way.. my nephs wouldn't be allow to watch ^_^

I think my biggest problem with this show, in all honesty, is that I can't help but feel slighted since I traded Armada/Energon/Cybertron which were just so much better than this show. I haven't felt this bad about Transformers since.....BEAST WARS. Of course, that show was an extra special let down because it wasn't just a horrible Transformers series. It was a horrible Transformers series made by Mainframe, which made it extra sad.
