Title: Bring back some real shows
Description: On Cartoon Network anyway
Smackdown - March 8, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
Is anyone else tired of these new CN shows? I don't even watch it anymore because of the simple fact that they rarely show good shows anymore. All they do is overplay shows like Billy and Mandy, Hi Hi Puffy Ami Umi or whatever, KND, and shows like that. Who else thinks they should bring back the modern CN good shows, such as Dexter's Lab, PPG, etc. And most of all, they need to bring back Looney Tunes, not Loonatics, but Looney Tunes. If you haven't heard of Loonatics already, it's basically just a ghetto version of Looney Tunes to appeal to the mainstream. At least they show some Tom & Jerry here and there.
Edit: I know they have the occasional rerun of some good shows, but that's like once a week at some inconvenient time, bringing back these good shows consistently would be nice.

The only shows that CN still makes new episodes of are Billy and Mandy and Ed Edd n' Eddy. Dexter's Lab got annoying so I don't watch that much and do not care for it. Also all of these animes shows on now will make me go mad some day. This is all I can think of now, but I agree with you mostly except with some old CN shows.

I agree, the newer Dexter's Lab episodes were pretty bad, and I agree with you 100% on the anime thing. Every generation needs to grow up with Looney Tunes, why did they take that off the air?
TheUnknownSeries - March 8, 2006 03:08 AM (GMT)
They should mix it up a little old school like hanna babarar cartoon, looney toons, Droopy, Tom and Jerry, Anime the adult swim and toonama anime is fine likr GITS, Naruto, Dragoon Ball, FMA, Inuyasha, Yu Yu, and etc, and New Cartoon like Billy and Mandy, Foster, KND, and Justice League.
I am surprise they never made a Justice Friends series.
antwan - March 8, 2006 03:17 AM (GMT)
they need to get rid of all the anime
TheUnknownSeries - March 8, 2006 03:20 AM (GMT)
Nah maybe some but not all. With anime you have to watch from the begining to the end to get it. The ones they show on CN are ok but there are better one out there like
Excel Saga
GTO
Gungrave
NOIR
Vandread
and a few others like that
antwan - March 8, 2006 03:24 AM (GMT)
Iv never heard of those ones, I dont pay attention to the anime stuff because it doesnt classify as a cartoon to me

I could make a flipbook, and classify it as a cartoon.
So, what makes anime different?
You know what'd make CN awesome?
New KND, Juniper Lee, and a revival of some of the older cartoons. And maybe some better anime.
But, I only watch about an hour a week, so I don't really know about the state of cartoons degenerating. XP

Anime is definetly a cartoon. Juniper Lee...good?
And yes, they do need to get rid of all anime on Cartoon Network. Anime isn't what CN is about at all. Even the old Toonami didn't have anime.
antwan - March 8, 2006 03:34 AM (GMT)
Nothing, I just dont like anime
Its kinda freaky

Actually, anime was part of the original Cartoon Network. One of the 1st big movie marathons was "The Attack of The Vampire Robots Movie Marathon"(which predates Toonami).
My two largest complaints with Cartoon Network are that they tend to rerun their new stuff(good, bad, or mediocre) into the ground. They just recently did a Ben 10 marathon and the show only had like 6 episodes at that point. It's as if they're short on content which wouldn't be a problem if they would stop this "Kid in a candy store" mentality and actually stick with some of their shows longer while adding these new shows.
My other complaint is all the non-animation on the channel these days. Between Fridays and them airing all of these regular movies it's like the channel is losing focus. Don't get me wrong, I love The Goonies...but it doesn't belong on Cartoon Network.
Do you all realize that they still air some of the classics on CN? At 1PM they air Tom and Jerry on weekdays. On sundays they air The Pink Panther. Sometimes, late at night, they have been airing Looney Tunes. It's still there and I agree that it should be there in moderation, but let's not turn CN into Boomerang.
Some of the new shows are actually pretty good to be perfectly honest. So far I happen to like...
Robot Boy
My Gym Partner's a Monkey
The Life and Times of Juniper Lee
Dragon Hunters
Ben 10
The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
Ed, Edd, and Eddy
but I also agree that CN needs to revitalize their older shows since the old Cartoon Cartoons since that's pretty much what put them on the map as a channel. I'd like to see more...
Dexter's Lab
Powerpuff Girls
Courage: The Cowardly Dog
Hector Con Carne
Johnny Bravo
Megas XLR
Of course this means certain programs would have to be killed off and I have a list of suggestions for the chopping block...
Dragonball Everything
Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi
Code: Lyoko
Zixx
Codename: Kids Next Door(fat chance, but I wouldn't miss it)
Totally Spies!
The main problem with the anime on CN is that a good chunk of it is either edited to pieces(they're getting better) or has a dub so bad it's almost unwatchable. Enything that actually makes it past those two problems is simply played to death. CN needs to be better about knowing when to retire something in favor of getting something fresh and new. So I would like to see them retire...
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Samurai Champloo
and cut these because they suck(and/or have been shown too much)...
Dragonball Everything
Zatch Bell
Then they could add some fresh and new stuff like...
Jungle Wa Itsumo Nochi Hale Guu
Final Fantasy Unlimited
Hellsing
Vandread
Initial D(not my cup of tea, but it would go over really well I think)
Actually, I'd like to see them scrap Miguzi and bring back Toonami. The problem with Toonami wasn't that it was bad. The problem was they they turned it into the Dragonball showcase pretty much. If they cured this anime stagnation problem then the show would be great again. Also, the miguzi bumps just annoy me to pieces.
Also, while I'm on a tangent here...

I find it pretty much impossible to hate anime. It's like making a general statement that U.S. Cartoons are bad. The problem with this statement is that within both classifications there exist both great shows and complete and utter garbage. You just have to find that interests you and go with it. ;)
Well, that's all I have for this time around. Until next time.

I think about this matter is that it would be nice to have some of the old toons but thats what we grew up with so we like those and not those new stuff. While when the kids that watch the new stuff on CN think thats its great and will want them when they grow up instead of the new stuff then. See where im getting at?
TOYI1SOCCER - March 11, 2006 05:59 AM (GMT)
do they still play that crap? other better stuff has survived less
Lenny Lou Ha - March 11, 2006 07:03 AM (GMT)
i miss Samurai Jack, Courage, and Dexter's Lab..
the only show i've really been able to sit down and watch a whole episode of is Billy & Mandy (which i kind of like actually)
neoman173 - March 11, 2006 07:06 AM (GMT)
The only show thats new and I sort of like is Ben10. I have no idea why though haha. I liked teen titans and EEE though also. And I have to say totally spies deserved to get cancelled.
Malach - March 11, 2006 01:40 PM (GMT)
Billy and Mandy is in my top 5 tv shows of ALL TIME.
Choas_Dragoon - March 11, 2006 03:16 PM (GMT)
The shows they should show and nothing else:
Courage the cowardly dog
Dexter's lab
Johhny Bravo
Billy and mandy
yu yu hakusho
case closed
there's others.
Ad they need aldult swim longer and need to cut off the reruns of Family guy and futurama. unless they are showing them as new episodes, cut them.Adult swim needs to be longer and they need to not make it show twice, they just need to make the block bigger. And if I see fridays again, Tommy will find himself in someone's basement with no arms. Cartoon network needs to ct the live shows and movies, cause most are about as cheesy as Power rangers and their like 50 different shows(Who actually watches all of them?!). Samurai jack needs to come back, and they need to have crossover show of the good shows like eee and dexter and ect. They need to put more thought instead of putting out a bunch of crap shows.
