Title: TCM is showing Miyazaki!

Enigma Zero - January 20, 2006 04:22 AM (GMT)
People are asking me all the time which anime they should watch. Through various threads(most notably "The Anime Breakdown...which I have not forgotten BTW) I have made a rather large variety of suggestions based on people's interests...until now.

If you've ever been curious about what great anime looks like, or you're a seasoned veteran starving to see something good on television then I have the answer for you.

Turner Classic Movies will be running one of 9(I think they're running 3 a night and then rerunning them immediately afterwards) different Miyazaki films every Thursday this month.

Honestly people, it doesn't get much better than this for anime movies. The man is a god! So click the link, check your local listings, and don't miss out on this. Trust me, all of these films are on my shelf so I definately have no problem recommending them.

Too bad I don't have Cable, but I have most of his works on DVD, so it's no problem. ^^

Dear lord it's the man who voiced Superman!

I had initially thought that it was a one time special event when they aired Spirited Away & Mononoke Hime back to back earlier this month.

For Spirited Away, they aired the dubbed version first, and the "repeat" later in the evening was the subbed version. I don't know if they're doing that with all of the films, but I don't see why they wouldn't.

Honestly, this is one of the nicest presentations of anime on television that I've ever witnessed.

Yeah, I caught Tim Daly's voice in Totoro pretty much the momment I picked up the DVD...not to mention Brandon has made us watch it well over a dozen times. He REALY likes that movie. Hey, at least he has taste. :D

I would be hard pressed to think of a better example of anime on television in the US to be perfeclty honest. Especially once you consider stuff like bad English Dubs and Censor Editing(which puts a hurt on G4Tech TV's showing of Lain and CN's "Night of The Vampire Robots).

Instead of making a new thread for this I've decided just to hijack this thread and edit some of the information. CN is doing pretty much the same thing TCM did, but alot less of it. Still, if you have no clue what anime is(or you think DBZ is great) then you owe it to yourself to crawl out of the cave you live in and check out these movies. Also, I was a tad bored so I tossed this together...

Cool, I had seen Spirited Away, very nice anime. And I had watched Princess Mononoke sometime ago, my favorite out of the series. I'll be looking forward to seeing what's to come on Toonami.
