Title: Rise of The PMs
Description: New Rules here so you better read them

Judgement - August 27, 2005 06:16 AM (GMT)
The PMs on Cartoon Orbit: The Complete Guide represent a valuable contribution to the overall betterment of these forums, that's how they earned the title in the 1st place. By the very requirements, dedication, work, contributions, and standards of which we hold these members they are those who have proven to be just, honerable, and kind.

When the began the massive undertaking of revamping the VIPs and PMs we had many ideas and intents of how to work the powers, prestige, and privilages of each rank. Some of them took off immediately while other took more refinement and time to perfect. The time has come for the PMs to undertake one of the powers of their station here at Cartoon Orbit: The Complete Guide.

Effective immediately, the PMs will now act as the secondary authority on these forums. They will be the ones watching the forums alongside us and keeping an eyeout for problems and such on the forums. Instances like spamming, multiposting, arguements, flaming, language, and other such issues will be under their jurisdiction. They now have the right, as the need arises, to go offtopic in threads that require them to step in and to solve problems as they arise. Their word is backed by the might of "The Higher Powers" and not heeding their polite suggestions/warnings will be treated as if you did the same to one of us....which you don't want to do.

Since the PMs have been added as an additional force to assist in these issues on Cartoon Orbit: The Complete Guide it is no longer the responsibility of the VIPs and Members. This means that, effective immediately, Members/VIPs will cease going from post to post and pointing out every little thing that they see someone else doing wrong. This does not mean you cannot help a newer member with constructive things like PMing them links to the rules or other such positive things, but it does mean that the practice of taking it upon yourself to jump into a thread and point out things like, "Hey, you're a spammer," "Hey, stop doubleposting," and other harsher rude comments which lead to arguements and flame wars on these forums will end. Members/VIPs found in violation of these new rules will be treated accordingly. Since most of the time it's just someone adding spam to point out a spammer....you will be treated as a spammer. If your lack of control leads to the instigation of arguements and flame wars then you will be dealt with in a more harsh manner.

The abilities listed here for the PMs are their abilities. What that means is that other more serious problems like Proof of scammers and the more serious offences that can transpire on these forums are still being handled by "The Higher Powers" so if you feel the need to PM someone to discuss such problems then please direct such PMs to a Mod/Admin. The PMs are here as a voluntary force to back up and assist us now in preserving these forums as a safe place for us all to enjoy ourselves...not to do our job while we go off on vacation and twiddle our thumbs.

The intent of these changes is not to punish the membership or make them feel as if we are limiting their abilities, but to solve some of the problems that are frequently occuring on these forums when certain less tactful people take it upon themselves to play Mod. The intent of these changes is also to give some responsibility and prestige to the PM Status because that's what it's for. If the PMs were just another form of VIPs then there would be no point for their existence in the 1st place and we would all be wasting our time fooling ourselves otherwise.

As always with new additions to the rules and policies of this forum, should you have any questions or comments on this matter then please feel free to PM a Mod/Admin.

So I have spoken...So let it be law.

Malach - August 27, 2005 06:56 PM (GMT)
Additionally, if you have an issue with a PM, or Mod, please contact either another mod, or the Admins.

Cangrats on your now higher power thing...

Pilaf - August 27, 2005 08:35 PM (GMT)
You should realize that this does not just effect the PMs, but all of you. We now have people watching the forums pretty much 24/7, which means trying to get away with things late at night etc. won't work. It also means that those of you who go around saying "Stop double posting" or "This is spam" are no longer required. while those posts were generally considered spam anyway, now this leaves you with no reason to post stuff like that.

-So start changing.

Choas_Dragoon - August 27, 2005 08:38 PM (GMT)
congrats pms. I wish I was you.

Don't worry I also hope that I don't or the other gets a big head on this. Like Malach said if you have any issue with the PM's or Mods just report it to the admins and the mods. Congrats to all the other PM's.

Don't forget to point out the topic where the issue is going on or forwarding the person mail's.

PMs are basically people that have posted thousands of times? How many posts do you need for that. I never expect to get that many but now I am just curious lol.

Post count don't count on this board. You get promoted by you character. If you are a good member that follows the rules ans don't cause any trouble you are a pm or a vip. It just so happens that most of the pm's has been here over a year.

™Lïñk™ - August 28, 2005 05:58 PM (GMT)
Ah that is reasonable. I thought it was posts because some people had thousands lol.

LOL Dr. Venkman

Congrats PMs!

Big Uncle Gorilla - August 28, 2005 07:40 PM (GMT)
there is no need for 'congrats.' this is a responsibility, not a privlidge as many people think. we are asking them to work for us. in return, we are giving them nothing they didn't already have :)

™Lïñk™ - August 28, 2005 07:42 PM (GMT)
It sounds kinda cool to be the person who has a say in the rulings of things. Idk why but I like to make sure people abide by the rules but as you said it could be a hassle as well lol. It is bitter sweet for you PMs but in the end i say cograts lol

it is bittersweet. i almost refused to be a mod for that very reason. in the end, i decided that i enjoy this forum, and that if i was asked to do something to make it a better place, then i owed that much to the site's admins, mods, and members.

™Lïñk™ - August 28, 2005 08:00 PM (GMT)
That was cool of you. I think it'd be fun yet a burden so it is nice to hve plenty of people to do it :D

Pilaf - August 28, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
Yep, we're basically the newbie patrol, we have no true powers except the ability to yell at people without being reprimanded for going off topic. It's actually a little bit more complex than having the power to go off-topic to correct someone, but we don't have any new "abilities", such as locking topics or editing other's posts.

i do it because i enjoy this site. that's why the other mods do it, i'd imagine. that's why the PMs will do it.

We do it because you told us to :P

TheUnknownSeries - August 28, 2005 08:11 PM (GMT)
 Yup! That sounds about right. A less people will now that if we tell them to stop it mean that they have to stop.

Well, no. You see, I have been here longer than a lot of people on this board, but I have I think a little over 3,000 posts. The mods select based on quality and contribution of posts rather than post count.

As far as the new rule goes, if any members detect these problems (I don't go to every topic), and I am online, feel free to PM me with a link to the topic, and I will use my awesomeness to stop it, and I will give credit where credit is due. Please do not spam my inbox, though; one PM is enough to tell me what's going on.
