The have been some accusations of scamming this weekend. All cases are being investigated. In the meantime, please give this a looking at:Q: Are there scammers at TCG?
A: Probably. We have a lot of members, and we can't get to know them all as well as we would like.
Q: Why does TCG allow scammers on their site?
A: Its easy to accuse somebody of scamming. It is much harder to actually prove it. TCG's mod team has stated on several occasions that we are not the Orbit Police. If we are certain somebody is cheating, we ban them.
Q: So who is it safe to trade with?
A: In BUG's personal opinion, nobody. I don't orbit much, but when I do, I do zero trading. In TCG's opinion, good traders can be found here:
Malach's good trader list. If you trade on this board a lot, I would suggest you put the names of traders you recommend in your signature for others to see.
Q: Who shouldn't I trade with?
A: I would be cautious of new members. This is not to say all new members are scammers. Think about this, most scammers are looking for a quick score. That's why they scam instead of Orbiting honestly. A scammer probably won't take the time to gain our trust and get to know us other members. They will join, scam, and leave probably all in the same day or two. If you are not sure about somebody, PM a member on the good trade list and get their opinion.
Q: How can I protect myself from scammers?
A: Check here:
How to NOT get scammedQ: I've been scammed!!! What can I do?
A: If you can't work this out for yourself, PM a mod with all info you have. If anybody else knows the situation, give us their names. Starting a flame war thread does little to no good. It will just get deleted. If you must start a thread, keep within board rules.
Q: What evidence can I present to prove I was scammed?
A: IM convos, emails, PMs, screen shots are all good, but there are 2 problems. First, these things can be altered. Second, unless you are EXTREMELY paranoid, you probably don't screenshot everything you do in Orbit. What would help significantly is a thread on the trade board:
Trade Board. This will give mods a history of the trade as it is worked out along with dates and times to establish a vague timeline.
Q: I'm being accussed of scamming, but I didn't!!! Now what?
A: Again, PM a mod. Was there a transaction, if so what was it. Is the accusation totally made up? Let us know. Falsely accusing somebody of scamming is an equally punishable offense if it can be proven.
