Title: Malach's Sunday
Malach - April 5, 2005 08:04 PM (GMT)
OK, so here is my interesting story form Sunday, I don't know why I a telling you this, perhaps a lesson?
I live is a OK section of the city of New Bedford (NB). For those of you who have read my blog on my website that gives you a good idea of what NB is like. I call my neighborhood, the 'hood, but is it not a particualrly bad neighborhood, nor is it good. It is very urban. Across the street there is a small laundry mat, and a 70+ year old man who runs it. His name is Richard, he is a healthy, feisty, friendly, and weird. He is a small skinny man with long grey dreads.
So the kids slept late on Sunday, so me and my wife did also. Afterward we were going to my mother in laws. So we got up around 9:30AM, and set out around 11:00. As we were walking out the door, and old Cape Verdean man come running up to me asking if I have a cell phone. When I asked why he had indicated that Richard was on the floor of the Laundry mat lying in a pool of blood. Alot of blood, but he was alive. My wife called 911.
Being the helpful type, I put my son in the truck, and grabbed the homemade first aid kit out of my car (I have taken some very extensive first aid courses) ran over there donning my latex gloves.
The first thing I notced was a mess of quarters on the side walk (this had what got the old man to go into the laundry mat), I opened the door, and there was Richard, sitting on the floor, in a pool of blood which was mostly pouring out of his head. This is acutally not the most blood I have ever seen, but close. He was covered, there were pools on the floor, and streaks on the wall. Moving to his right side I also noticed that his face was pretty much bashed in.
He was trying to get up, but was able to stay sitting when I asked him. He definitely was not himslef, would not speak, and was way out of it, obvious concussion. I also noticed quaters all over the place inside. Immediately I thougt robbery and Richard is the type of guy to fight of a robber, even with a gun pointed at him.
So, I immediately noticed he was breathing OK, and his pulse was fairly strong, I lightly placed banadge about his head to sop up the blood, fearing a skull fracture I used no pressure, and luckily the blood was already coagulating. A few minutes later 8 cop cars, and Firetruck and a Ambulance showed up (my wife did just say someone was bleeding really badly  ).
So that was my Sunday morning . . . how was yours?
Setafox - April 5, 2005 08:25 PM (GMT)
Wow Malach..........My Sunday comes nowhere near as dramatic.
Any particular reason why you wanted to share on a Tuesday?
Malach - April 5, 2005 08:33 PM (GMT)
Did not really have time until now.
Setafox - April 5, 2005 08:38 PM (GMT)
Before I forget to ask... How is Richard? Is he okay?
Malach - April 5, 2005 08:47 PM (GMT)
No one is sure yet, the police are not saying much, he is still in the hospital, and I know he got 55 stiches in his head and they were checking for skull fractures.
^o^ Sherry ^o^ - April 5, 2005 09:48 PM (GMT)
I'll just copy and paste it from my journal :D
Mood:
Today was *no comment*...I'm just wondering why people (at our school escpecially) get into other peoples buisness so much and talk about each other. <_< It's just really annoying when even your best friends talk crap about you....
I am super mad! My friend just called me and told me that Rudy and Wilson said that I was a *beep* and that I shouldnt have had so many boyfriends already... Seriously I AM NOT a *beep* and I dont even see why they think talking behind my back  I hate it when people think they have a right to judge you when they barely know you
They said that I had *beep* with guys and I was a *beep* So if you hear that I slept with guys or am a *beep* IT ISN'T TRUE! I promise I swear on my life Im just not like that.
I was at church today and I was thinking about life. Life is so cruel people judge you for who you are and how you look. People look down on me for being nice to so called "dorks". How would you like to be that kid that people dont associate with because god made them a little less attractive? Come on people lets get real nobody is perfect in reality!!!!!!!!!
So, my Sunday morning was BAD!

My Sunday was a lot like any other day. I get up at 4 am. I drive my car to the Coke plant and get my Coke truck. I go to Walmart and fill their counters and displays with Coke. Then I go to Food Lion and fill their counters and displays with Coke. Then I go to Kmart.... I think you get the point, lol. But I must admit that I'm happy my day was not as exciting as yours.

I will focus in your acting, lol we always need to do something in cases like this, I see some people just paralize because of the nerves, but is good to have ourselves together. I will not say anthing about "violence" cause I don't want to be cruel to you lol
was the old man okay at the end?
you shoud tell him that his life worths more then some coins, I mean sometimes we need to realize that life is priceless...
My sunday? uhm I was just cleaning the house. :D

I still jave no word on his condtion, but there are TV cameras out there now . . . yes acting . . . I was not at all nervous.
TOYI1SOCCER - April 6, 2005 04:37 PM (GMT)
I tell you sometimes we hardly realize that things are replaceble.
there was one kid on my neighborhood (in ES) who lost his life when a gang member mogged him to steal his shoes... the boy refused and the gang member just killed him and took the shoes anyways...
just think
nike shoes $80 ... was that was his life worth?
sometimes we need to think no matter how large amount of material stuff they take from us, it will never replace the value of your life & worst if you are a family head that supports a family.
TheUnknownSeries - April 7, 2005 12:53 AM (GMT)
