Title: American Cartoons

Oplasma45 - February 27, 2004 12:10 AM (GMT)
Since we keep on talking about anime and not about cartoons made in the U.S. lets just list are favorite U.S. cartoons whether it be Sponge Bob, Kids Next Door, or Garfield and Friends.

Taz L. Gonzales - February 27, 2004 12:27 AM (GMT)
outta those spongebob. for its sheer innocence and stupidity. that just makes it funny

Oplasma45 - February 27, 2004 12:32 AM (GMT)
I say my favorite is Futurama. But if you like stupidity go rent or buy Ren & Stimpy.

[HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY]

i m wit taz i like the simpsons, futurama, and family guy

Hojo - February 27, 2004 01:14 AM (GMT)
I usually hate to go with the popular answers, but hands down it's Family Guy for me. I think Futurama is kinda stupid, though, but that's just me.

Taz L. Gonzales - February 27, 2004 02:39 AM (GMT)
but honestly, isnt it just extreme stupidity that makes family guy funny??? how can u be a fan of family guy and not think stupid stuff is funny?? ponder that for a while :D <---content smile

Hojo - February 27, 2004 02:47 AM (GMT)
Family Guy isn't ALL stupid, but I'm not gonna deny that it isn't PARTIALLY stupid. It is purely random. There is a fine line between stupid and random. Random is doing something completely out of nowhere when people are expecting something else. Stupidity is used for cheap laughs and normally isnt really funny after you tihnk about it. Family Guy is "I can't believe he did that!" Stupid is "hahahahaha...that wasn't funny." big difference.

Taz L. Gonzales - February 27, 2004 02:49 AM (GMT)
i see, but in a way family guy is stupid humor. im glad u admit that lol. i do see wat u mean. in a face off between family guy and futurama it wood be no contest

Raven Pheonix - February 27, 2004 04:21 PM (GMT)
not even family guy v.s team match against futurama and simpsons would be a match

but maybe south park would get a fue rounds in the rings

Taz L. Gonzales - February 27, 2004 09:29 PM (GMT)
south park wood kill futurama in my opinion. its just too funny

Raven Pheonix - February 27, 2004 09:58 PM (GMT)
yea your ight taz futurama was funny only in the first episode but now its like you should change the channel the simsons is like ill watch it if there isnt anything else good on tv south park you got to watch it or at least some parts of it if your going some where

BUT FAMILY GUY YOU WILL NEVER GET BORED OF IT IF YOUR GOING SOMEWHERE
YOU GOT RECORD IT NEVERMIND RECORDING IT BUY IT ON DVD

Taz L. Gonzales - February 27, 2004 10:17 PM (GMT)
already have season 3, might gets seasons one and two in the future sometime

Malach - February 28, 2004 02:10 AM (GMT)
American Cartoons: If you are going to talk about South Park and Family Guy, you need to give props to Ren and Stimpy, Beavis and Butthead, The Jetsons, the Flintstones.

Other good American Cartoons to ponder: Justice League, Batman, Tom and Jerry, Looney Toons, Power Puff Girls, the Eds, Dexter, Courage, Titan AE, Super Friends, and Scooby Doo.

I'm sure there are more . . .

Taz L. Gonzales - February 28, 2004 02:22 AM (GMT)
very good collection there, yea those r all good. but in my opinion south park n family guy rule over them all

Oplasma45 - February 28, 2004 02:25 AM (GMT)
As one wheel chair bound person once said: Timmmmmmmy!

Taz L. Gonzales - February 28, 2004 02:26 AM (GMT)
i believe u meant to say "Timmmmmmmmmmmay!"

Pui Nappa Something - February 28, 2004 03:00 AM (GMT)
well family guy is coming out with supposedly 35 new episodes on fox in December to Januaray 2004-2005. I just hope it is as funny as it was.

futurama isnt that bad either. and has anyone seen rockos modern life on comedy central? Hilarious.

I think one of the best U.S. cartoons is Batman: The Animated Series. The original series and all its seasons before it turned into the Batman Superman Adventures. The plots were intense "for a cartoon", and the dialog had some sweet spots, too.

The X-Men cartoon was excellent ( perhaps a bit daunting at times with all of the different plots and characters - but it still managed to pull off coherent episodes! ) I enjoyed the 90's Spiderman series as well.

Gargoyles is another action-packed cartoon that rocks. It's SO hard to imagine that came from Disney! The voice acting in that series is simply awesome, and I love the writers - for the story - and Puck's lines.

Samurai Jack is one of the more modern US toons I enjoy. It's just so deep sometimes, and I love it! It can make me laugh, cry, and just freak out sometimes! It's great - I love the emotional attachment I have to Jack, too. There's not too many series where I connect to the characters.

I like PPG - because its cute and funny and yet another superhero cartoon.

Dexter's Lab (before the new season) made me laugh. Still does. It's interesting how the same jokes still crack me up sometimes. I guess it's because I don't regularly watch it - and the breaks help keep it somewhat fresh.

Batman Beyond, Justice League and Teen Titans are other favorites - but couldn't be what they are without their predecessors. Still very good though.

... I'm sure I'm missing something - but these are some highlights. I do think some of these weren't mentioned before. B)

I like Invader Zim. Who can not like a stupid alien that gets hurt when he touches meat?

Hojo - February 28, 2004 11:03 PM (GMT)
Invader Zim has got to be the most classic cartoon on Nickelodeon. Why they would cancel such a work of pure art is beyond me. I used to actually make it a priority to watch Invader Zim, no mtter what I was doing. That is the ONE DVD set that I'm praying that they will make. I would be first in line to buy it the day it comes out.

Malach - February 29, 2004 01:52 AM (GMT)
Why would Nicelodeon mess up with Ren and Stimpy like they did? What they did to that series is a travesty.

Also, Heavy Metal (the movie) was pretty progressive for it's time. Samurai Jack, now thats a cartoon.

Also can't forget some of those Williams Street toons for Adult Swim, Sealab, Aqua Teen, Harvey Birdaman, and Space Ghost could all go against South Park/Family (albeit the comedy is a little more intellectual and adult- not meant as an insult).

Finnally lest I forget Baba-Papa (sp) my Saturday morning heroin when I was 6.

Pui Nappa Something - February 29, 2004 02:16 AM (GMT)
yah i do miss invader zim. it was kinda like a Y7 family guy. Some times very unpredicdable and funny. tell you one thing, it sure kicked spongebobs behind.

i hate spongebob. Also has anyone seen rockos modern life before it was edited?
that was a pretty good show.

Oplasma45 - February 29, 2004 03:24 AM (GMT)
Yup, Filbert is a messed up little turtle isn't he?

Raven Pheonix - February 29, 2004 06:50 AM (GMT)
i think fox shouldnt get the new family guy episodes but they are the ones that funded them but as cartoon network fan (including adult swim) i think they deserve them i know not much about it but sure i think fox is just another compony out for money i know cartoon n. also are out for money but atleast they dont make them stupid JOE MILLIONARE and them AMERICAN IDOL i hate them ppl that watch that and creat them things

Taz L. Gonzales - February 29, 2004 09:00 PM (GMT)
i disagree, fox should get them b/c fox will air them at more conveinient times. its much eaiser to watch a show at 7 on sunday than it is at 11 on a school nite wen i have to get up at 6 the next day. c/n cant show family guy earlier, b/c it wood upset sum parents n stuff
