CHAPTER ONE~Stolen Moments~

On the top floor of the hotel, in the penthouse balcony doors, stood the single figure of a woman. The breezes played with her currently auburn hair and the night lights of Miami, FL reflected in the womans pale blue eyes.

She sighed thinking of all the moments she had stolen away and come here for a few hours of solice and peace. Those moments were about to end and she longed to put the dawn hours off.

Slowly, she drew back into the penthouse and shut the double doors. The man in the bed stirred and she saw him reach out to her side of the bed and wake up when he found she wasn't there.

"Lee?" he softly called. Ashley swallowed the lump that formed in her throat at the thought of having to leave this man, but she pushed it aside and went over to him.

"Over here, Todd." She smiled.

"Lee, it's four in the morning, what are you doing up?"

"I couldn't sleep so I went out on the porch for a little while."

Todd sat up on the edge of the king sized bed and looked at her, siloutetted in the moonlight.

"Ms. Morgan, the day you can't sleep is the day something is wrong."

Ashley walked over to sit next to Todd, at odds within herself whether to tell him or not. He grasped her hands and leaned down to catch her eyes.

"You know you can tell me anything." He said.

Ashley nodded. "It's just the stress of work, I guess."

Todd really looked at her. For some reason, he knew she was not telling him all the truth, but in their world, that was to be expected.

He sighed and pulled her down to lay beside him. "Then you need rest. You're still healing as well."

Ashley nodded again and snuggled into his bare chest and she felt his arms go around her back and waist. Soon, she felt his regular breathing and knew he was asleep. But still, sleep eluded her. She concentrated on imprinting everything about this moment into her memory because she knew once morning came, she could never steal one like it again.

CHAPTER TWO~Dawn Hours

She watched the sunrise still nestled in Todd's arms. Daring to wait until the last possible second, she finally rose and went into the bathroom.

Lee packed her toiletries and threw on the gray sweatpants and black spagetti strap she had left there the day before. Going back out into the bedroom, she swiftly packed the rest of her things up into her dark green gym bag and shoved her feet into a pair of flip flops.

She paused by the door to take one last backwards glance at Todd, still slumbering, then she walked out.

^^^

She made it to her white VW Jetta in the parking garage without any mishaps. Lee had had to aviod several security cameras, but she had done this so often she could almost do it in her sleep.

Lee pulled out of the hotel and began the drive into the suburbs to the pre-arranged rondexvous point.

CHAPTER THREE~QUICK CHANGES~

Todd awoke to the empty bed. His hand hit the pillow beside him, wishing he could feel her hair, but knowing it wasn't there.

She was always the one who did the sneaking during their meetings; her being the field agent, after all. He was just an anyalist. Expected to think, but not do. He half smiled thinking about what their superiours would say if they found out about him and Ashley.

Rolling over slowly, Todd finally drug himself out from between the sheets and into the bathroom. Her scent still lingered in the air, even though all physical evidence of her was gone. It made him miss her already.

After quickly showering, he switched on the morning news for background noise as he finished packing his bag. In the middle of folding his pants, two words caught his attention. Car crash. Todd fixed his eyes on the tv screen.

"Early this morning there was a car crash on Interstate Highway 95," the reporter was saying. A picture of a burning white VW Jetta came on screen.

"After leaving the highway, the car rolled twice before exploding and burtsing into flames. The rescue team arrived too late to rescue the trapt driver. The fire team as controlled the fire and now forensics is working on the sceen. We should have more information for you soon, including the driver's identity."

But Todd did not need to hear it. Everything in him had frozen and gone numb as he read the license plate in the picture of the smoldering car. Ashley... he thought and suddenly, furiously, shoved the rest of his things in his bag and dashed out the door to get to his car. To get into work. To get this cleared up because in none of his wildest dreams did he ever think about living with out his Lee.

Behind his figure sprinting down the hall, with his heart pounding, the television remained on and the reporter moved on to other news.

^^^

In another, cheaper hotel room, another figure swiched of a television screen, tears running down both cheeks. A knock came at the door and the woman quickly wiped them away as she went to answer it.

She picked up her loaded and cocked gun on the way, ready to blast the hell out of whoever was there if it wasn't the person she was waiting for. But a peek through the peephole assured her, and she opened the door.

The short man moved into the room with a nod and crossed to the window.

"Satisfied?" he asked.

"Completely," her voice answered, half purring, half hard. "It was great work, Mr. Andersen."

"Thank you, Ms. Morgan," Mr. Andersen turned to face her, "It worked all the better with your cooperation. Now, are you ready to continue?"

Ashley walked to the bed and picked up her bag sitting there. She nodded to him.

"Good. Follow me."

Hmm. Just one review. That's all I'm asking! I want to explore this idea I had, but it's almost useless if it's just for myself!

CHAPTER FOUR~NEW LIFE~

The ride to the airport was fast and silent. Ashley followed her new handler, Andersen, all the way across the tarmac to a private jet. Once they were inside and seated in the plush tan seats, the engines rumbled to life.

"Do you need a few moments?" Andersen asked. Ashley turned away from the window to look at him.

"No," she spoke softly, "I'm in. All the way. No distractions." Anderson nodded and passed her a folder.

"Good. Read up. We're on our way to Athens, you have plenty of time." He then left for the front of the plane, leaving Ashley alone with the details of her new life.

When she was sure he was gone, she casually flipped open the folder and pretended to be reading. Instead, she let her eyes unfocus as she quietly re-lived every moment of her life with Todd.

Through her ten years with the CIA, he had been the one constant. As an agent, she had become extremely self-relient, but beneath the strong woman she showed to her office, was an average woman tool. Who had just wanted to be loved. And Todd had loved her.

She had met him at work. It was during her first year as a field agent. She had just returned from her first unsuccessful solo mission and was feeling pretty lousy. After delievering her written report she had tried to get out to her car as quickly as possible but had accidentally run into the tall analyst in the lobby, almost to safety.

Todd had realized she was upset and then guided her gently outside and calmed her down. After he let her cry, she had looked up into his eyes and realized she would never rid her heart of him.

Now, ten years later, after he had been everything her orphaned self had needed, she was deliberately leaving him. It broke her heart, but there was no better choice.

Ashely finally focused on the documents in her lap and began reading about the organization she now worked for. FIRE. Freelance Intelligence, Reconnissance, and Espianoge.
