Seven Days Until Alias! Sure, the Emmys are exciting, what with all the glitz and glamour, but it's the upcoming Alias premiere on Sun., Sept. 28, that has me counting the minutes.

In anticipation of the third-season premiere, I've caught up with two Alias buddies via email (okay, so the hacker who acquired their email addresses for me is the real buddy)--executive producer JJ Abrams and star Kevin Weisman (Marshall). Here's the scoop:

JJ Abrams on the New Season: "I'm excited about the challenges Sydney faces. Sloane at his most devious. Vaughn at his most married. Very troubling, especially because there is no easy fix. What if this really happened to you? And the thing Sydney is most upset about is actually the very thing she did. Almost a year after burying her fiancé, she was deep into it with Vaughn. Can she really blame him? Perhaps not. But the heart is sometimes illogical..."

JJ on the New Mrs. Vaughn: "Melissa George has a cool intelligence and a sexy confidence. Though she's this beautiful and whip-smart woman, she's also able to project real vulnerability. She's complex, something this role requires."

JJ on New Characters: "There'll be many. Some great ones. Of course, I'm assuming you'll like them. What do I know?"

Kevin Weisman on the New Season: "Due to the two-year factor, all the characters have evolved in a very exciting way. The show also will be easier for new viewers to understand, while providing some sweet morsels of goodness for the longtime loyal peeps."

Kevin on His Storyline: "There is some Marshall love...Oh yeah, baby, turn down the lights...Carrie (Amanda Foreman) will still be around two years later. Marshall is still awkward and unsure in the relationship, providing for some humor. Amanda is great. We are friends from back in the Felicity days."

Kevin on More Action: "I am going on another mission in episode five. Can't tell you too much except that there is a 10-gallon hat involved in my costume."

I love it! And by the way, a note for you Los Angeles peeps. You can check out Kevin and his band Trainwreck (with Kyle Gass from Tenacious D) at the Viper Room on Oct. 23-24.

Also, in case you hadn't heard: Bradley Cooper (Will) won't be seen as much on Alias this season, but he is set to appear on Alicia Silverstone's new show, Miss Match (which premieres Fri., Sept. 26). Charisma Carpenter, formerly of Buffy and Angel, is also reportedly signed on for an ep. So, if my rave reviews of Miss Match didn't already convince you to watch, this should seal the deal.

Love triangle?? No Will???
