Okay...well...I know this is a lot to ask, but please don't spoil me...I won't be seeing Alias when you are seeing Alias, and I don't want to know...as long as Will is still alive, and Irina is still alive

OK, but you know you'd see all the hoopla that will be going on after the initial opening season show. What are you going to do about that? When will you get the season 3 opener?
Now here's a reminder of what you do know.
Will is alive and Francie is not. :D
Sydney is alive, but has been missing for two years. :)
Vaughn is alive, but is married.
Jack is probably alive and probably (but we can't be positive-it's purely conjecture) with Sloane. I think the CIA would have sent Jack if he was there -- not Vaughn. :(
Irina is alive, because we saw her escape thru the window on the 19th floor.
However. no one knows where she is.
Weiss is Weiss and still there. :)
Marshall is still there and, I believe, maybe married Carrie, but who knows for sure.
Hopefully you won't have to wait too long after the opening here, to see it there. :
Have you got all this? :ph43r:
Next column I'll try to do Saturday and post, along with a new Chapter of Death in Kashmir. :ph43r:
And my James Joyce piece :reallyexcited:

IRINA DEREVKO
Second Double – Episode 21
“I Don’t Want Tippin Killed”

This was first shown as a two-part episode, but ABC is showing it as one part this evening.
Sydney and Vaughn are on the couch making out, or close to it. He removes his shirt and tie. Ah yes, the tie – the one Francie gave him. (I knew there was something odd about that gift.) Now as Syd and Vaughn talk between kissing et cetera, she hears about the hunt for the person who accessed the CIA computers.
Francie tells Sark what she’s overheard. She’s afraid if the CIA takes Will she will be compromised. Sark goes to Irina in her office. He tells her what Francie revealed. Irina tells Sark to make sure the framing of Will is convincing. However, she does not want Tippin killed. Why? If he was framed and killed, it would provide safety for Francie. At this point, I think she knows Tippin is Sydney’s only real friend left alive (the real Francie is dead). She knows also that Sydney will protect Will at all costs; or perhaps she knows more than Sark or even Sloane even. Why is Will Tippin so important to Irina? We certainly won’t learn this episode however, but it is something to think about.
In the next few scenes, we see Francie manipulate Will, making sure he is unable to answer personal questions; then while they are running, Syd tells Will he passed with the highest marks in the analyst test. They are interrupted when the FBI takes him into custody under the patriot act on suspicion of espionage. At JTF, Syd and Vaughn are dismayed by a digital recording of their lovemaking, which was found among Will’s affects. Marshall confirms Will’s computer downloaded Emily’s death in Tuscany.
Will has been set up brilliantly. It is going to be tough to extricate himself from the trap. Jack keeps him at the JTF Ops center. He doesn’t want him to be sent to Camp Harris for unrestricted interrogation. He’s doing it mainly for Sydney who has real doubts about Will’s being the second double.
Syd tells her father, “I’ve known Will for years. Trust me on this.”
Later Will is visited in the cell by Marcus Dixon who accuses him of being the one who killed his wife. Angered by Will’s inability to remember answers to questions he poses, Dixon almost strangles Will, stopping only when he realizes he is about to commit murder also. When he returns upstairs, Kendall tells him he’s going to escort Will to Camp Harris. The DOJ has overruled Jack’s decision to keep him at JTF.
Francie tells Sark what has happened. Sark tells her to get a rescue team together and extract Will. Then kill him.
Oh, oh, did he forget what Irina said? She might be away for the moment, but she’s going to be back and who knows what her response will be. I’m not sure why he felt it necessary to ignore her instructions, but maybe later we’ll learn more about their relationship and why he is comfortable going against her wishes.
In Berlin, Syd and Vaughn (By the way readers, a CIA handler NEVER goes with his asset on any assignment. That’s a rule.) enter a sex club where they get Dr. Jurgens into a compromising position (chained and in his shorts) and then take pictures, which they threaten to send to his wife. He supposedly helped Markovic in the doubling process. Jurgens denies it, but tells them how to learn who the second double is.
Back, Stateside, Will is being moved to Camp Harris. He’s handcuffed and riding in a bus with two guards and a driver. Two CIA SUV’s are in the front and back. Suddenly there’s automatic rifle fire and the tires of the bus are shot out. The bus careens down the road and then tips over, sliding on its side. All of the CIA men except Dixon are killed. Will escapes.
Irina has handed a briefcase of money to a man who gives her plans of the NSA facility where she knows the Di Regno heart is located. He wants to know how she plans to override the new security system they installed. Oh, oh! She’s cool and calm as she listens, but not so inside. Trouble.
Syd at home receives a phone call from Will. She wants him to give himself up to her. She’ll protect him from the CIA.
“Syd, I love you. I can’t—can’t trust you. Not anymore. Meeting you—meeting you destroyed my life. You want to help me? Prove I’m innocent.”
Lots of “trusts’ being flung about again. If the series weren’t a hit with the name Alias, they could rename it “Trust me!”
Will goes on to tell Sydney that Markovic laundered money into farms and maybe it wasn’t a “pig” farm, but a server farm in Marseilles. Of course, Francie has overheard the conversation from Sydney’s point of view.
Francie calls Sark and tells him about the farm and that Sydney’s on her way to Marseilles. She wants to follow, but Sark tells her to stay put, that she has to find Will. He hangs up when Irina walks in. She tells him that NSA is using state of the art locking mechanisms. The access codes she downloaded from Echelon won’t work anymore.
“Presumably a CIA agent, under proper duress, could obtain such a key card. I’m about to confess something that will either delight you – which I hope is the case, that would be nice – or it will make you furious. While you were away, Will Tippin was ordered to Camp Harris for unrestricted interrogation. They would have found out about our asset.”
Irina asks, “What did you do!” She’s calm but he’d better be careful.
“I instructed that he be extracted and killed.”
“I told you I didn’t want him killed. Your asset could have been pulled from the field.”
He tells her that Francie would be in danger because Syd would find evidence that Tippin was not the double. He explains Tippin is at large, having somehow escaped. He suggests that they could get that evidence and trade it for Sydney’s help to get the key card they would need to get into the NSA warehouse.
Meanwhile Jack authorizes Sydney to go to Marseilles. After she leaves, Jack and Kendall talk. Jack’s been sanctioned by the DOJ and removed as the director of the search for Derevko and Sloane. He tells Kendall he’d rather be in the field anyway and that Kendall got his job back. Jack now realizes Kendall tried to protect Sydney.
He leaves and ends up in a café somewhere, having a drink. Sloane appears. They talk. Sloane learns that their friendship ended the moment he recruited Sydney over Jack’s objection. Sloane nods and tells Jack if he had known that would happen he would have done things differently. He tells Jack that he wants him to come back and that he will tell him everything about Rambaldi. Jack refuses. Sloane gives him warning about leaving too soon, then says,
“We’ll see each other again, Jack. Trust me on that.”
In Marseilles, after a drunken flimflam at the gate, pulled off by Vaughn who has been doused with champagne by his ladylove, Sydney gains entrance to the server farm. She is looking for the Chief of Security who has a kill switch. This will wipe clean all data on the computers. Once she has him down, Vaughn and the others are to enter and take down all personnel.
She gets to the main computer room. Standing behind a column, she sees the COS in his chair. She approaches cautiously and turns him around. His throat’s been cut. She steps back.
“Hello Sydney,” her mother says softly. Then she jabs a taser at Sydney, shocking her. Pauses and then shocks her again. As Sydney gasps in pain, Irina tells her that if she will do something for her she can have the information that will save Will. Syd tells her to go to hell. She leaves. I think half the pain Sydney is because her mother has betrayed her again. Of course, we know that if Irina hadn’t, Sydney would have to try to take Irina captive and this would lead to a distressing confrontation.
The final scene: Francie picks up Will in Sydney’s car. He thinks he’s being rescued.
Question: How did Irina know exactly when Sydney would be in the server facility? She had to get there, get inside to kill the COS and take the kill-switch off his wrist before Sydney arrived. Yes, I know, this is Alias. Still, I think Irina has an asset inside the CIA that even Sloane doesn’t know about.
More about this on the season finale and maybe the answer in Season three.

I have to agree with you on that last point. Irina knows far too much considering she was in a cell for most of the time.

Will Tippin finally came into his own this time, and he is learning the most valuable lesson in the world of espionage...you cannot trust anybody. I think it hurts him, because I think he loves Sydney, but he still wants to be around.

Irina specifically ordered him not to be killed, I want to know why Sark thinks he is so special he can disobey that order...surely Irina would have more than happily killed anyone in that same situation?

Now that was a funny scene, I'll admit that Vaughn had a funny scene...hehehe...he did a good job of being the drunken American :)

Okay, this was funny when he was asking for his pants back! But I don't think it was a sex club, I think it was an S&M club...maybe they just use that to seem inconspicuos...but hey, I know nothing of these things ;)

The ultimate question...but what is the answer?

I can conjecture, but I think we'll have to wait 18 days for the beginning of an answer...
I've been watching the first season...I've already got a few back stories in mind for Irina and I'm only on the 7th episode.

Okay...well...I know this is a lot to ask, but please don't spoil me...I won't be seeing Alias when you are seeing Alias, and I don't want to know...as long as Will is still alive, and Irina is still alive, I'm more than happy. If MV is gone, that's an unlikely plus.

Just curious, but when are you going to do your column for 2.22?

K. Ackles - September 10, 2003 12:44 PM (GMT)
I can't wait! I can't wait!!!! Yup, that's what we know...but I think I'll lay low...I'll come back for your fic updates, and to do mine...and of course I track this! I have you tracked :P

Perhaps, Irina didn't know Sydney would be here but after she has to kill the COS, she heard noises and she has hidden and waited to see who would came. Then, when she has seen it was Sydney, she has wanted to talk with her... and we know the continuation.

Because he is her son !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, i'm joking here.... Sorry <_< (I'm ashamed)

Wow...never heard that theory before!

That is interesting and might play, but for the fact that in the Second Double, Francie/Allison told Syd that he had spent 2 weeks in Chicago visiting his parents.
But hey, anything is possible. No, if she had another child, I think it would be Sark. But that's as good a guess as any.
I still think the reason Irina kept saying she didn't want Tippin killed is that he is Sydney's friend...and maybe he'll be more. We all know he's in love with her.

You know what I just thought! If Will is Irina's son, then his love for Syd is incest! AWWWWWWWWWW!!!!! Poor Will. That would suck for him!

Nooooo! I don't think JJ has anything in mind like that! Sheeesh! My bet would be Sark...or possibly someone else. ORRRrrrrr maybe no one. It's pure conjecture on anyone's part that she and Jack have another child. It would seem that if anything were true along that line, that Sark would be the logical choice since she took him out of harms way (Syd/Vaughn's trek to Sweden). Irina, I believe, insisted on keeping Will alive because of Syd. :D

Of course the wildest speculation is that he is her lover...Oh nooo, (slaps self) bad thinking...
Trouble is none of us know what JJ is thinking or planning. :ph43r:

That would be funny...*slaps self for thinking the same thing*

I think I have to keep my thoughts logical, and think that Will was to be kept alive simply for Syd to stay happy :)
