I think that after letting his walls down.....Getting close to Sydney...And then getting majorly SCREWED OVER by Irina..He's put up the barriers again.,...

Especially since Sydney has a new man in her life and in Jack's eyes is replacing him....

ohh, i like Jack. I don't like some of the things he does b/c he seems so harsh, but he is very misunderstood. he just doesn't want to see Sydney hurt, but sometimes he ends up hurting her even more. *sigh* what a twisted life he leads. i love spydaddy though!

i agree. jack is just trying to build a relationship with his daughter... then screwing everything up himself.

Jack was hurt by Irina . . . which happened over 22 years ago . . . he hasn't recovered from that. He's trying to prevent himself from being hurt. He doesn't want Sydney to be hurt either, but he has become overprotective in the process. It will take him a while to 'let go' as it were. Especially now since 'A Dark Turn.'

I think it is understandable though. He has been through so much already. I wouldn't want to have to go through any of that again if I was him. I think he has shut down emotionally. He just couldn't cope with it all at once!

Sydney's gone, no one can find her. Irina's gone, no one knows where. So the spy family is torn apart for now. However, Syd's reappeared, but Mom and Dad we know not where...Jack is probably with Sloane as predicted only because the two people he truly loved are not yet visible. The only "friend" he has is Sloane and that, of course, could be debateable.
B)

Sloane told Jack that he never would have recruited Sydney if he knew it would have ruined their friendship, so I think Sloane still wanted to be friedns with Jack. When Jack 'lost everything' he went back to the only thing (person) he thought he could maybe trust. Makes sense lenafan, but still I wonder if Jack didn't just withdraw into his work completely...although you may have a point, I'm still unsure about it...

He is a lonely man and he needs irina and his daughter to provide him with stability. Then he learns that both women are decetful but in bery differnt ways-
he taught sydney how to play the spy game by testing project Chrismas on her and by exposingher to the life she now leads. Irinia made jack's entire life a joke a lie- and he realy loved and I think he knows that she really loved and still loves him

he feels like he is destined to be betrayed - to never be the choice anyone makes.
irinia didn't leave the KGB for him or sydney and sydney is determined to get to know her mom despite jacks wishes. I think he needs to be the victor- to have thsoe he loves and trusts listen to him and actually do what he asks.

Now some of what he asks is unreasonable and I think he knows that - so he is "screwing himslef" but he doens't see how to do things any differently.

season 3 should be intersting.
I am curious to see how jack dealt with Sydneys disappearance.
