What project are you working on now in Blitz. I having just finished my XMAS game, am working on my Tetris remake. And You?

Hey Sounds Cool. Let me know when you get a playable version out!

I think your mate ripped you off there Cheify. You see blank cd-r's cost (with jewel cases) around 50p each (mine cost £10 for 25 or 40p each)

Where from? Poundstretcher.

Anyway better luck with your next one Cheify.

well........I'm afraid I made a total cr*ck of my programming project
my PC was enstalled with a floppy drive and a read only CD drive : total price (of the whole lot) £1000
for another £100, a 2nd burn drive could have been added, but it wasn't SOOOOOO

my programming project took a crazy nightmare course, to adapt to this

I had a CD of photos of me and my family g0-karting last year, close ups, joking around, a few photos of us on holiday etc.
with the CD, I programmed a great slide show, plus much more :
it was great fun, but I only had 1 master data CD (from a mate in Dorset who took the data off my mum's hard drive (and his))
and.... no means to make more copy CDs

I paid a mate at work £40 to duplicate this master CD for me (x 20) so that I wouldn't have to worry about farming it out to friends and family
I planned to put my PROGRAMME on a floppy disc that would manipulate the images
well this went on for MONTHS, because I thoroughly enjoyed putting all this together (extras, features, private pages : MASSIVE !!)
BUT the thing is, the CD contained jpgs gifs and tifs AND of course BB CANNOT handle gifs and tifs!!

I kid you not, blitzbasic is a phenomenal language, but you may know that it is confined to handling just jpgs, bmps and pcxs ONLY

at first I thought well THE MAJORITY are jpgs - leave it at that - but then as time went on I got annoyed
I had a choice, lose the gifs and tifs OR oh boy this is pain ... get my mate to do another 20 CDS and another £40 schmeggin cash shot - a new lot of 20 CDS with the gifs and tifs converted to jpgs !!

ok I made a decision, it was a BAD DECISION I paid a SECOND LOT of £40, am I a total MUG or what ?? The geezer COCKED UP the 20 CDS because, although he did the conversions, half of the original jpgs were now MISSING !!

meanwhile my PC had "blown" and was down at the menders getting a FULL SERVICE, they told me the thing had LOCKED SOLID with cluster data galore and I said "look in for a penny in for pound" fit me a 2nd CD drive while you're at it will ya ?? £70 for that, plus £11 further charges TOTAL £81, to free the tower up AND provide me with a burner CD I should have had in the first place

I didn't argue with my mate, he got £80 out of me for burning 40 CDS which are never going to see the light of day and I regret that £80 like TOO MUCH maties WHY DID I DO IT ??

anyway my project is still continuing, BUT the tower is currently BACK at the menders BECAUSE once I got it back, the CD player is no longer working, it appears to be working and you see the time elapsed ticking over BUT NO SCHMEGGIN SOUND

so they've got it BACK THERE, who cares, I'll get it back sooner or later, this year or next and then my project will BE MASSIVE, I have so many plans
I scanned in a section of SIMPSONS images from the TV TIMES and then drew the image(s) up to the screen as a quiz, which is this character?

if correct onto the next one ..... BUSINESS !! tons of stuff like that

it turns out, that once the programme is compiled it adds up to 1.6 MB

what does this mean? the significance? well a floppy is 1.44MB, so the programme would never have fitted onto a schmeggin floppy anyway

BTW how much TIME do you have on this subject ? I mean - is ANYBODY still reading this ??

Yo!

I'm currently working on a Sim City kinda game,
difference is that you're an american settler in the 17'th century
and have to grow crops/cotton buy land and manage your hired staff.

The goal is to be the greatest supplier of cotton/crop/meat and
to finally be able to live in a huge mansion with servants and stuff..

It's a big project but the hardest part is the gfx.

Apart from that I'm working on a mario clone, a bit easier than all the logics
that goes into the other game...

Cheers & Merry X-Mas

Sure thing :)

At the moment I'm only working on the gfx wich is the most boring part,
I just can't wait to start the actual coding...

I'll probably end up ripping the gfx from a free rpg resource or something..

Cheers

working on a small rpg set in medieval times in blitz2d atm but thats currently on hold as me and the other 2 guys are waiting till the holidays are over and we get back to school where we can work on it instead of doing school work.

This holidays Im programming a game called "a pirates life" in a funny little macintosh language called Metal Basic. Youll sail around in your ship get more guns, pirates for your crew, ammo, whiskey (to keep the pirates from leaving) and if I remake it in blitz Ill add a feature where you can battle against friends over the net.

Other than that Im waiting for blitzmax

Patience is a virtue.
