Title: Guitar Hero vs. Rock Band

Chocolat64 - March 23, 2009 09:13 PM (GMT)
I'm definitely a huge supporter or Guitar Hero. I like Rock Band for what it did, but- it's still not better than Guitar Hero. Especially since Guitar Hero just put out World Tour [which is a thousand times better than RB2]. I mean- the song selection is better on Rock Band, but- I don't know.

I play Expert mode on GH... kind of a big deal.
lol.

What about you guys? Which do you like better? How long have you been playing?

Shawn Black - March 28, 2009 06:30 PM (GMT)
ROCKBAND ALL THE WAY just because i can play welcome home on expert, and in real life, and i can just pretty much own every song on expert, (average score nowadays is a 96-98%) but GH is easier to play, and that is why i like rockband better. its more challenging. :)

I'd say that Rock Band pwns Guitar Hero. I love the greater song selection on RB and RB2. Plus, I like to sing. :D So I like Rock Band. But ugh, I find Guitar Hero harder than playing a real guitar, I don't know why. Probably cuz there's only five buttons....but idk.

I'm the Rock Band guy of my group. Best bud, Mau, is Guitar Hero. Both games have their epicness, and keep us both plenty competitive. (We both play expert on guitar and drums)

I'm more partial to Rock Band more because of the HUGE gallery of music. Avenged Sevenfold? TENACIOUS D? Oasis music on DLC? Heck yeahh.

Ok so i haven't been introduced into the Rock band experience but i'm definitely a Guitar hero girl. i was obsessed with it for months when i was given the 3rd game. It was literally like heroin... however i'm the type of person that gets bored easily so i got to Hard and got distracted with other things.

Shawn Black - March 28, 2009 08:37 PM (GMT)
yeah another reason why i like rockband is because i just string up the mic on one of these rafter things and play guitar and sing. of course im beast at both, but i play easy on mic when i play guitar. :P because really, it is tough :P

emmanuelle snape - March 28, 2009 08:40 PM (GMT)
i fail at singing to be honest... i sound like i'm drowning... but then again some people are into that sort of thing!!! The dancing makes it a whole lot better

Shawn Black - March 28, 2009 08:42 PM (GMT)
well my career choice is singer/songwriter or the frontman/rhythm/lead guitarrist in a band, so i just use rockband to help me get the multi-tasking with playing and singing at the same time easier :P

James.Potter - March 28, 2009 08:43 PM (GMT)
I noticed that if you just warble in the right pitch, the singing part of Rock Band will think your singing. hehe. You don't have to say the lyrics.

Shawn Black - March 28, 2009 08:47 PM (GMT)
yeah i did that for some of the beastie boys songs... :P just bc i didnt know the lyrics. i usually just play songs i know the lyrics to. if not i just play guitar lol

Sirius_Black - March 28, 2009 08:48 PM (GMT)
I noticed that too James. :P
But it should atleast be appealing to the audience.

Haha, singing and playing at the same time is tough stuff. It feels only possible if you pretty much memorized the lyrics, and mastered the picking.

I've tried that combo on rock band. Best bud's tried playing drums and singing. On expert? Drumming is hardcore stuff.

emmanuelle snape - March 28, 2009 08:54 PM (GMT)
That's the same with Singstar... i have pure hatred for that game, my step brother is on it every hour of the day screeching!!! the mumbling thing i mean.

Shawn Black - March 28, 2009 09:03 PM (GMT)
i can play welcome home without looking at the screen on expert, and sing to it on medium at the same time. because well... im the ultimate coheed and cambria fan :P

Chocolat64 - March 29, 2009 12:10 AM (GMT)
Shawn, I do the same thing- sing and do guitar. It is amazing practice, I'm getting ready to get into a band here in the next few weeks. ^_^

Shawn Black - March 29, 2009 12:16 AM (GMT)
it actually is really good practice. but my xbox broke so i havent play in awhile so i just throw in my ipod and play and sing Wake up at the same time in my basement... yeah i know, im stupid :P

Chocolat64 - March 29, 2009 12:38 AM (GMT)
lmao, since I just sing, I don't play any instruments, I can do that with basically anything. I don't have to do two things at once, which is easier. I'm trying to learn acoustic though, I bought an Fender Acoustic from Castle Music a little while back for about $100- nothing special, but- I'm gonna start practicing, etc.

Shawn Black - March 29, 2009 03:52 AM (GMT)
i need to get a decent acoustic guitar for not too much money... im thinking maybe an ibanez acoustic/electric starter set, i get an acoustic amp and some good stuff, and a nice looking guitar with it too :)

Chocolat64 - March 29, 2009 04:02 AM (GMT)
Meh.
I'm not going to harp on Guitar types, because I have no idea what I'm talking about.
o.o

Sirius_Black - March 29, 2009 04:16 AM (GMT)
I've only got the jist of how compatible certain guitar techs are to each other. Amp, guitar, pedals, switchboxes, ect.

But I loooove my green jackson. It just sounds great, no watter what amp I use it on.

Chocolat64 - March 29, 2009 04:21 AM (GMT)
Okay.
Well, if it has strings, it's good.

Shawn Black - March 29, 2009 04:23 AM (GMT)
I have an original 1970's fender bassman amp, a vox reverb amp. and a distortion pedal that i DONT use bc i like the distortion on my vox amp better than the pedal. I roll with my red ibby "rose" and had a black flying v dean acoustic/electric that i played but i got that signed. i had a washburn House of blues electric that im taking apart and completely redoing it. :)
