Description: What do you play?
GuardianX - July 5, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
Yeah, like I said before, I play the electric guitar. Well, not actually play more like I'm learning. Basically I'm learning some chords at the moment. I've pretty much memorized the A, D, and E chord.
By the way, a great place to go to (which is known by many so I'm probably wasting my time by doing this but what the hell) is www.mxtabs.net
That place also has forums where you can talk about different kinds of music and general crap. You can also look up some lesson topics that help you to improve your coordination and playing abilities.

Mxtabs is a great site. Well I'm teaching myself how to play guitar and I also play the trumpet. I can play some piano too.
GuardianX - July 6, 2005 03:41 AM (GMT)
I first started playing the piano when I was seven. I hated it, and finally at 11, I quit my lessons. I wasn't really into it, and I would only practice once a week, which would be the night before my lessons. =p
Now that I value things a little more, I'm more dedicated to learning stuff, plus I've always wanted to play the electric guitar when I was younger. And paying $501 for the guitar only should keep me dedicated to learning every aspect about it. XD

Guilty of guitar both ways ; D
Karou - July 6, 2005 02:20 PM (GMT)
I play the guitar as well. For about 4-5 years. I think my favorite songs to play are Back In Black by ACDC, Fat Lip by Sum 41, and Flavor of the Week by American Hi-Fi. They're easy songs, but they're fun. I also play the piano (10 years), flute (8 years), and xylaphone/vibraphone(2 years).
Anyways, another good tab place is ultimate-guitar.com.
So what happened to the last instruments topic ...?

Deleted by accident maybe.
I play the bass.

I've been playing guitar for four years, still taking lessons. I've done a gig with my uncle before. During the show he even allowed me to solo for like two minutes. =D. I'm finally getting a new guitar in about two weeks now. A Gibson Les Paul Custom...veeery expensive. I've been playing piano for nine years. I have a 1973 Rhodes keyboard. I stopped taking lessons because my teacher said I didn't need to take lessons anymore.
Aeris Angel - July 11, 2005 09:23 PM (GMT)
I've been teaching myself guitar for the past couple years with my guitar I've had all my life, but in a couple of weeks I'll be geting a new red and black electic guitar and I'll have some teaching me. =3 I'll also be going back in chorus in school and I'm going to be having someone teach me at world of music soon. I can also play the paino very well! I've been playing for 4 years. =D
And my band might have a gig in a couple of weeks! I'm soo happy! =^^

Violin, Hermonica, and Trumpet.
:P A little straining to play three instruments but fun.
Atomic_Blader - July 21, 2005 04:17 PM (GMT)
I'm pretty sure this topic has been made like a million times before this...
I play the saxophone

I'm learning how to play the guitar..
.::MAX::. - July 25, 2005 09:40 PM (GMT)
Guitar, most of the songs I like require at LEAST 2 guitars. But I like reinventing your exit by underoath. And btw, mxtabs I agree is GREAT site. And karou, you are my hero if you can play all of back in black. I don't know anyone that good. I probably could if I tried, but I don't feel like putting any effort into learnig it.
GuardianX - July 26, 2005 02:07 AM (GMT)
Well, I got myself a distortion pedal for my guitar. It's a Digitech RP80. My friend has an RP300 but it's like $400CAN. I also found out that my cousin has 11 electric guitars (different kinds; electric acoustic, jazz etc). He also lent me some Metallica and Black Sabbath CDs to listen to while I try learning a few tabs from his books.
And he says he also owns two Gibson SGs (Standard Heritage Cherry and a Special Ebony). Hm... Maybe he'll sell one to me for cheap...

Well I had a guitar teacher who taught me that. But now, I have to figure things out by myself. The solo is very easy if anyone wants to try it. I promise. ^^
Raykak - July 28, 2005 12:39 PM (GMT)

:D I just got it today and I'm learning some simple tabs.
wOOt.
GuardianX - July 30, 2005 03:10 AM (GMT)
Awesome, my friend has one of those. Except his is all black.

Back in Black is a pretty easy song. And dude...why don't you put any effort into it? Do you expect to be good if you don't feel like putting effort into it. Damn, I probably practice three hours a day at the very least. Playing guitar is like..the only thing I care about and the only thing I want to do with my life. And like Karou said, the solo is BEYOND easy.
And Raykak, that Epiphone Les Paul Special is a great beginner guitar. I wish I would have gotten a Les Paul shape when I started, but instead, I got this POS Squier Strat. Thats alright now though, because Right now have a Gibson Les Paul Custom and a Marshall JCM800. I'll get pics of them veeerry soon.
Planeshift - August 30, 2005 03:54 AM (GMT)
I completely forgot about this thread. Lol.
Here are some pics of my guitar and myself.

Karou - September 5, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)
Those guitars are so overated along with the SG ones made by them.
Planeshift - That guitar is rather spiffy looking even though I don't like Les Pauls. ^^
Planeshift - September 5, 2005 08:40 PM (GMT)
Thanks. I don't think Les Pauls are overrated though. Choice of guitar is what you like, and think feel good. It's simply a matter of preference, and thats the bottom line. Its just what you like. The only thing you can really say is better than the other is a guitar with the same shape, but higher and lower end models. Like Gibson and Epiphone. Gibson being better than Epiphone is a FACT. Fender being better than Squier is a FACT.
Anyways, I'm really lucky I got this Les Paul Custom. It was the very last one the place had and would be getting, because Les Paul Customs are no longer going to be sold retail. You have to got them directly from the Custom Shop in Nashville, and it would cost around $5,000. I got mine for $3,000.

Actually, they are the same sounding, its just Fender and Gibson use better quality wood. Also they are American made, and its costly to make stuff in american because labor rates are so high. Epiphones and Squiers are made over seas, where labor rates are low. They also use common wood.

I know that the reason the cost more is because of American labor and the quality of the woods. But those things are a major difference in sound. If there was no difference in sound between a $99 Squier Strat and a $1,500 Fender Strat..That would just be pretty stupid.
Honestly, if you can't tell the difference in sound between a high end Gibson and a low end Epiphone...you must be tone deaf.

ROFL.
Anyways, I've gotten to play my friends Gibson Les Paul the other day, and you were indeed right :/. Gibson does have a better tone, I think I might look out for an oober low price on one, or just save up.
