The very first anime I ever watched was Dragonball Z.

I think it was Samurai Pizza Cats. I always thought that show was serious... Turns out it's a parody of whatever show was made back in the 80s/90s: Ninja Turtles, Gundam... etc.
Then about two years later I saw Dragonball.

Same, this was a lot of people's first anime from where I've seen this question around.
I didn't know what anime was then, since I knew, the Freiza saga of DBZ was my first anime I watched knowing what it was.

I vaguely remember watching Cardcaptors back when they showed the English dub on Nickelodeon. And I remember watching Pokemon, and DBZ too.

My first was Digimon. A classic.
Then came Pokémon (ugh), then Dragon Ball, and then Beyblade. Those were all within a few years' time. Now, the list of anime I've seen is quite interminable in length.
