Title: Bye Pope =/
Description: ........

Brooklyn - April 2, 2005 09:01 PM (GMT)
This is for Pope John Paul II. He has passed away at 7:37 local time, 9:37 Rome time. Pass this message on in memory of him, and may God bless you!

Raykak - April 3, 2005 05:14 AM (GMT)
;___;

Being Catholic I am really sad. But millions around the world should be sad too. The world wouldn't be this way without him.

Brooklyn - April 3, 2005 03:28 PM (GMT)
I'm not Catholic, I'm Baptist but still, it pains me though...

Ancalagon - April 3, 2005 07:00 PM (GMT)
Okay, so the pope is dead.

Satanic people: Rejoice!

Christian people: Weep in sorrow!

Atheist/non believing people: Don't give a damn!

So, I have become "Why-isn't-this-topic-locked-yet" type of guy.

RIP, Mr. Pope.

GuardianX - April 4, 2005 01:00 AM (GMT)
To pay respects to a man who has changed the lives of many people. If he wasn't important, him being hospitalized wouldn't be all over the news. At least pay your respects to someone who improved the world's atmosphere so you don't live in a hell-hole.

Rest in Peace, Pope John Paul II.

GenocideBB-Shadow - April 4, 2005 11:38 AM (GMT)
Pope John Paul II's name will forever live on in peoples hearts & memories. For what he's given us he can now rest in peace.

Valkrys - April 6, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
A good pope who affected the lives of many people. He will be missed.

Rest In Peace, Pope John Paul II

I don't really care he is just a human like us just with a higher title.

I guess the same can be said for both Brad and Beholder. They haven't really done anything too special for us.

No they havent, apart from take a toy a little too seriously.
And get slightly obssesive over it. IMO.

So then you probably find it weird how people just praise them huh? I feel the same way. Yet those people who praise Brad and Beholder are sometimes those who are like "yeah, the Pope was just a human."

I just wanted to get a point across everyone.

The pope is just a humen ( a dead one rite now) but he did great things for people.
Hence why people 'worshiped' him.
Brad and beholder have done nothing worth of praise o-o.
They have explained some realy obviouse things about a toy. whats so special about that???
(they havent exsactly kept the hobby alive have they)

"Obvious " is very subjective. Often, most people don't notice obvious things. And to be honest... I don't see the connection. We're talking about religion and... something that is probably not religion? What's the point of using this subject to attempt low level bashing of Brad and Beholder?
Heck, they actually tried to keep the hobby alive. I think, you don't understand why people respect Beholder and Brad. Part of the reason, obviously, is sucking up. But they have also created communities for people to meet. Honestly, I think... because of their efforts (even if it was not concerning Beyblade but any other misc. topic), people like me are able to meet many new friends. It's not because they explain "obvious", or "obviouse", things about a toy. This is just a reason to keep the community together. It is because of the kind of relationship they create between what were complete strangers.

Tried and failed, sadly.
The sucking up part is the part that I find most irritateing, I don't hate brad and beholder, I do respect them as I respect you, and as I respect a whole lot of other people, but the part I find irritateing is the people around them.
I remember one insident when someone didnt agree with brad. everyone 'ganged' up on that person, and basically told them to stfu. That is the part that well...disapoints me.
I agree about the communities, I met all my friends through bbs. but look what has happened to this communitie, and through my eyes, brad has been an equation to the 'corruption'.
Makeing friendships also gives you the power to break them.

For the record I am not actualy trying to make a point here, I am pretty much just stateing small opinions. oO

This isn't an attempt at a low bashing for Brad and Beholder, I respect their hard efforts. But I don't praise them with exaggeration like some of OtC members.

The only connection isn't through what they've done, but who they are. People say the Pope is just a human, nothing more. Then you go to OtC and be like "Brad's just a human, why praise him?"

And you get replies like
"stfu n00b, Brad's got more of a life than you ever will have"
"Because Brad's the awesomest and you're jealous"

People say that because Brad's done a lot for the Beyblade Community. Yet when the Pope makes differences for people around the world, all some people can say is "he's just a human; no one special."

The connection then would be how they are acknowledged. One made differences in a toy, and one made differences in religion. So it's irritating when people praise Brad, but then just say the Pope is nothing. Surely he must mean something in their lives if people take time to say he's a nobody.

And then sometimes those are the same people that hate killing, bad things etc. Well, I'm pretty sure the Pope had nothing to do with making people around the world nicer towards others and making the world a warmer place to live in.

So to conclude my crazy metaphorical blah, if you're going to give thanks to Brad and Beholder for the small things like Beyblade, it'd make sense to acknowledge the Pope for his accomplishments too, because the one thing he did do that affects everyone, even those atheists, is making the world a warmer place to live in. Even with everything going on nowadays, at least people's spirits are kept high.

Kai-V - May 27, 2005 10:44 AM (GMT)
Hn ... I am 100% against talking in people's back ...

I personally can't see what the Pope has done. My religion teacher once told us about his exploits, but when I talked about them to my father, he completly contradicted those acts with quite decent points. So I suppose it's more of a point of view, the same way people could believe one person came down on Earth as a gift of God, while others would just say that person finally saw the truth and wants to make a difference, a non-religious difference.

Composer of Requiems - May 29, 2005 07:01 AM (GMT)
Correct me if I'm wrong but... I don't think Vegitto was one of those people who goes around praising Brad madly. They're all kinds of people in this world. Thanks for clearing up anyway ^^

Nazhuka Mizhuki - May 29, 2005 10:19 AM (GMT)
You know there's a simple reason why people don't quite feel for the Pope.

Let's say you don't know Brad or Beholder. Let's just pretend that they both die. [Sorry for doing this guys T__T] Maybe on the news it comes out, saying [The Heros and Saviour of Beyblade have died]. Since you don't know them, you'll probably be, like, [wtf, ok, so what? They didn't do much anyway]. It's the same thing here. We don't know the Pope in person, and he isn't quite our friend.

QUOTE (Vegitto-kun)

Yup, it IS a human with a higher title. But surely, he has done something for the community. Maybe not for us, but definately for at least ONE community. You just don't get titles for nothing.

Beholder and Tamer Brad did a lot of things in order to keep Beyblade alive by the way, so yeah, they did do something, Sam.

QUOTE (Composer of Requiems)

Precisely. I don't see how Beyblade connects with a pope?

=========================================================

So you see? It isn't because he's a bad pope, and that's why we can't feel bad, sorry etc. It's because we can't quite connect with him, understand him, and be his good and close friend. You won't feel sad for a complete stranger, even if he/she is claimed to have done a lot, right? Well, at least that's what I think.

And Sam, Veggies? I'm not quoting you because of what you did to me. I'm just trying to get my point conveyed.

I guess what Nazhuka said is pretty much true. You can't really care for someone you've never cared about or know nothing about in the first place.
