Description: Didn't know where else to post this...

Well, I am going to be writing articles for BBS every now and then, and this, being my first, I thought I should let you preview. Read it and hit me up with some feedback. Ex. More details, more length, etc.

The Death of Beyblade?

Recent reports from Tamer Brad of Off The Chain have proved that Takara will be canceling the beyblade toy line after the release of Shining God Metal Sun and the Random Booster ACT 5. While this is tragic news to some bladers, I happen to think that it’s just another kink in the joys of blading.

But, this cancellation brings up some questions concerning the right to licensee, Hasbro. Since their recent contract with Takara, which allows them to make their own products, a lot of bladers are left wondering whether or not Hasbro will continue the line after their own production of Shining God MS. I, for one, hope they do not continue the line, because, given Hasbro’s current track record, they are not known for satisfying their customers.

So you may be wondering the reason for this cancellation. Well, while this hasn't been confirmed, I imagine its because Takara ran out of beyblades to produce. But, the official reason is the fact that they wanted to produce a new product, which has already been dubbed as a spin off of beyblade, while not officially named that by Takara, called Cross Arms. If you would like to check them out, please see the post on OTC for links to an official site and two commercials. So just what are these new Cross Arms? They are basically big, chunky, robotic looking beyblades that have battles in Pizza Box sized arenas. Sound familiar? It should. Some bladers have said they remind them of Rock-Em-Sock-Em robots, and I'm afraid that I must agree. Just what in god's name is Takara thinking, cancelling one of their top-selling product lines to produce these horrid things? No doubt a series of animé and manga will follow the release of Cross Arms. I can't help but shake my head in disapproval.

So, what is my position on the matter? I don’t really think it matters. If you were to ask me for my opinion, I would tell you that it really doesn’t and shouldn’t affect the love bladers have for the sport. When a toy line does end, it doesn’t mean that our spirit and love for the game has to end as well. Despite the cancellation of the line, I will continue to blade with the beyblades that are available and I will also continue to share that love with the hundreds of others on various message boards.

But, regardless of my position or opinions, we must remain true to ourselves and our love for the game. Support beyblade forever!

If you are wondering what you can do to support beyblade, here are a few ideas. Host or participate in a tourney (TB’s OTC Official Tourney is still going to be held, check that out) and just spread the word. Really, the best you can do is to go about your normal business as a blader and continue doing what you do best: Being a blader. While there may not be any new blades to collect, that doesn’t have to mean that we as a demographic must end as well. In the words of the great Tamer Brad:

Beyblade for Life!!

Yeah, I thought it was a little too short as well, but I didn't know what else to say.

I've got some ideas though.

*EDIT* Added another paragraph. I still think it needs more though.

I like that one :)) .

Good job, And I think that the cross arms are retarted :)), and they are so stupid, its name shouldn't even have capitols :P . And this was a stupid desicion for Takara, Hasbro will make there own in my opinion, and I think after the bad sales, in a year, Beyblade might come back.. Just might...

Awsome job Haku.

I'm sure tons of people agree with your point.

Well, if you check OTC, there has been a correction to this news. Here is the latest post from Brad.

IMPORTANT!! CORRECTION TO "TAKARA ENDING BEYBLADE"

This is VERY important. I misread the Japanese text.

As it turns out, Takara is SUSPENDING the release of Beyblade release products. They are doing this to promote interest again and they will start releasing Beyblade again in the future.

Also, while TBH's schedule is undecided about LARGE Gold Cup/Silver Cup style tournaments, they have already scheduled hobby shop tournaments for the 2005 season.

I am very sorry for the error.

Brad!! That is the most dramatic mistake you have made, and the most gracious recovery!

But, this review is all wrong :P, wohoo! Beyblade lives! But, It was a good report.

Why yes, yes it does.

Guess that means I'm going to have to write up a new article.

Guess thats all in the job description though, huh? :P

Haku - February 7, 2005 02:21 PM (GMT)
Ok, sorry for the double post, but I'm going to be revising this article. Now it is going to contain pretty much the same information but I am going to re-write it to make it accurate and include the details of TB's error.

I'll post it up later this afternoon.

Yeah, I made an awful mistake. T_T Suspending and ending look pretty much the same through a translator xD
