Title: War in The Balkans! Mostarvia declares war!
Description: USSM, Edessia, Slavic Byzantium attacked
-Mostarvia- - May 24, 2005 12:41 PM (GMT)
IC:
The order came. Two words that meant all.
"Destroy them."
The Mostarvian EMP Missiles, 3,000 in number, left the assorted Mostarvian navy vessels, their destination, Slavic Byzantium, Edessia and USSM.
The air defences of the three nations were alerted by the incoming missiles, but as they responded, so the first wave of EMP missiles detonated, sending out a crippling pulse that crippled the defence mainframes, grounding all aircraft, rendering the nations defenceless and paralysed and plunging the three nations major cities and towns into complete darkness as the lights cut out as wave after wave of EMP missiles detonated over the three nations.
500 more EMP missiles were fired, guided by satellite intel towards the Edessian, Slavic Byzantium and USSM navy fleets, detonating near them, rendering the vessels powerless to defend themselves from Mostarvian Navy fired 400 Mostarvian Guided Missiles that thrust themselves into the vessels, turning fine vessels and their men and women crew into twisted and burnt metal fused with scorched flesh, burning in bright fireballs that lit the sea.
The air defences of the three nations were reduced to flak guns manned by confused crews, firing with futile effort as 500 Mostarvian guided missiles were left unhindered thanks to the EMP missiles work, to fly at their targeted designations in the major cities of the three countries, turning the targets into fireballs, and lighting up the nightsky into a orange hue, flickering, as the trob of guided missile impacts resounded to the sounds of air sirens.
War had come to The Balkans.
OFFICIAL MOSTARVIAN GOVERNMENT STATEMENT:
This evening, following evidence of threats of attack by Slavic Byzantium, Edessia, and USSM upon The Red Star Union of Mostarvia, and following my warning which went unhindered to stop this threat, I, and the government and people of The Red Star Union of Mostarvia have hereby launched a pre-emptive strike upon the offending nations before they can carry out this threat to attack and kill Mostarvians, in what I and my fellow Mostarvians constitute to be an act of self defence.
Following my request for their mock attack on mock Mostarvian vessels to cease, I, and the government and people of The Red Star Union of Mostarvia received this reply:
"we will not have our nation's agenda dictated to us by murderous thugs such as yourselves" - unnamed spokesperson for USSM.
"By all means, take whatever action you feel is reasonable to counter the apparently hostile fleets of 3 nations working at full combat readiness......
If your forces are as good as you claim, by all means send a flotilla and brigade or two to test "The brave and glorious armed forces and civillians of Mostarvia" ability or even more units for a proper engagement.
Care to prove our scenario wrong?"-Admiral of the Fleet Basileios Diomedes of Slavic Byzantium
Comments such as these did not ease my concerns, but rather proved insulting, defiant and offensive, and constituted agressive statements made at a time of aggressive actions against mock Mostarvian targets.
Edessia supported Slavic Byzantium and USSM in the agressive mock actions and have also been constituted as a threat to Mostarvian lives.
These three rogue and pathetic nations are now being taught a lesson both in how not to address a nation's leader, and in the fine art of warfare through defensive measures, and they will continue to be punished and bombarded until they agree to halt their aggressive stance and assure they will not threaten Mostarvia, or until there is nothing of their countries left.
Good night.
President Vladovic, of The Red Star Union of Mostarvia
Commonwealth of Slavic Byzantium - May 24, 2005 02:18 PM (GMT)
ooc:okay what the god damn hell, I see only now that I messed up my post, I meant that as a call to send units to join in the war games yourselves. Now that I'm reading voer it agian I can see how it could be construed as a call to war.
Assuming we were to think this were true(and not you trying to do a more extreme version of what I did), do you have any idea just how effective an EMP nuke can be? " It is predicted that a single high altitude burst 200 miles above Kansas could propagate an EMP enveloping the entire United States" <http://www.physics.northwestern.edu/classes/2001Fall/Phyx135-2/19/emp.htm> Seeing as the whole of the Balkans is smaller than the US and the distance between our nations is under a thousand kilomtres and you used several, you just rendered your entire attacking force useless along with all the electrical equipment in your own nation as well. The same works if detonated at ground level.
"The Lethality of Electromagnetic Warheads
The issue of electromagnetic weapon lethality is complex. Unlike the technology base for weapon construction, which has been widely published in the open literature, lethality related issues have been published much less frequently.
While the calculation of electromagnetic field strengths achievable at a given radius for a given device design is a straightforward task, determining a kill probability for a given class of target under such conditions is not.
This is for good reasons. The first is that target types are very diverse in their electromagnetic hardness, or ability to resist damage. Equipment which has been intentionally shielded and hardened against electromagnetic attack will withstand orders of magnitude greater field strengths than standard commercially rated equipment. Moreover, various manufacturer's implementations of like types of equipment may vary significantly in hardness due the idiosyncrasies of specific electrical designs, cabling schemes and chassis/shielding designs used.
The second major problem area in determining lethality is that of coupling efficiency, which is a measure of how much power is transferred from the field produced by the weapon into the target. Only power coupled into the target can cause useful damage." <http://www.abovetopsecret.com/pages/ebomb.html>
I could use surge protectors, harden all my electrical equipment, use Faraday's cage for everything and I should be relatively well protected verses EMP's, certainly my naval vessels would if not my land installations.
Of course myself and Edessia have space forces, I'm sure we could assume we weaponized space, I could just as easily send in sub-orbital fighters within 2 minutes to nuke all your NBC installations, your major cites, your minor cites, your towns, your villages, you navy, your freaking hermits individually if I wanted to. I just commtied genocide on the extreme level and problem solved...no more Mostars left on Earth should I decide to do such an extreme attack like you are.
Let's not forget our units being in Byzantine territory, I believe you just warred on them as well.
I don't know whether to ignore this and continue along my merry way or just throw in an IC where I annhilate the entire Mostar civilization in 5 minutes flat.

ooc: Your probably going to hit the roof with what Im about to say, but anyhow. You dont usually post the othersides loses in a rp war. You state what you did, ie in your case launching 3,000 EMP missiles *coughgodmodcough*, at the three largest cities of those three nations, and then they come and post the damage done. If its done the way you just did it, the attacking side may as well just RP by him/her self and his/her hand.
We also usually rp the acquisition of tech/weapons.
No offence, but its what Im used to, being part of dedicated political RP forums. And in my experiences, seems to be the norm.
Commonwealth of Slavic Byzantium - May 24, 2005 02:54 PM (GMT)
an example....
As the EMP's detonated along the combined SB, Edessian, USSM and Byzantine naval forces, several of the vessels had become paralyzed. Luckily, all of the SB vessels, and a select few Edessian and Byzantine vessels (no USSM, as they don't have the largest amount funded towards their navy and didn't consider such a possible strike likely) had been protected by Faraday's cage, <http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/lightning.htm> originally intended to protect against lightning strikes, but also were remarkably effective in protecting against EMP's. The CIWS's of the SB vessels worked well against the cruise missiles destined for SB vessels, losing only 2 destroyers and one cruiser. Unfortunately for the disabled vessels, only a handful of ships could be spared to protect the disabled fleet. Nearly all of the other vessels had been destroyed.
Admiral Basileios Diomedes stood on the flag bridge in anger and shock. "Contact the Admirality!" The communications officer replied, "I'm getting nothing in return sir! There is no radio traffic whatsoever in SB, Edessia, or even USSM! There is nothing...."
"Those Mostar bastards, they must have used EMP's to paralyze our homes, probably decimating our cities...order all sub-orbital fighters loaded with nukes and ready to be launched in 5 minutes time. Get me satellite feed on our homeland now! Recall all carrier fighters and prep for a surgical strike against Mostar itself" The admiral hid his fear of the worst quite well.
""i'm bringing it up on the tactical display now sir." Admiral Diomedes and the flag staff looked in horror as Belgrade, Constantinople, Novi Sad, Skopje, Athens, Alexandria, all of it burning and seeing streaks blowing into fire clouds all around as the cities took pounding after pounding. An air mrshal remarked, "Our homes, our family, our people, dying by the millions...why has God abandoned us?!? What is this injustice?!?!"
The admiral entered a rage enver seen before and went berzerk, "THIS IS ADMIRAL BASILEIOS DIOMEDES, AFTER THE MOSTAR STRIKE I AM TAKING COMMAND OF ALL OUR REMAINING FORCES. INITIATE STRIKE OMEGA AGAINST THE STATE OF MOSTAR IMMEADIATELY."
"I will not order the destruction of an entire civilization sir, I will not relay that message!" The admiral pulled out his handgun and pointed it at the communication's officer's head, more enraged than ever, yet speaking unusually calmly all of a sudden. "Son, I will give you three seconds to send that message, or step away from your station, or I will execute you for high treason and insubordination. One, Two, -the comm's officer closed his eyes- Three..." No shot resounded, just a loud crack as the pistol slammed into the comm officer's skull, knocking him out, and causing him to bleed slightly. The admiral relayed the message, his mouth started to froth a bit.
The SB naval task forces all grouped into one large fleet as they went at full steam towards Mostar. All space forces prepared for omega strike. The suborbital fighters had already found and destroyed every Mostar satellite, with strike sub-orbital fighters loaded with hydrogen bombs. The pheonixs fell upon Mostar at 15 kilometres per second, streaking at the limit of space towards Mostar. "Omega." It was the only radio communication made. As the SB navy hunted down the Mostar naval forces, a half dozen hydraogen bombs fell upon each major Mostar city, carrier based strike fighters attacked coastal cities, all NBC installations were hit, setting off the weapons stored there annhilating anything within dozens of kilometres of them in several white, blinding flashes and mushroom clouds. A nuclear carpet bombing run struck Mostar from north to south, and then again west to east 15 minutes later.
Admiral Diomedes lacked any emotion as he smoked a cigar, watching the satellite feed on his tactical display as literally all of Mostar glowed orange from space. He did not care of the surrounding nations, he did not care of the nuclear holocaust, he did not care that any bordering nations of Mostar, what was left of them, would send any nukes they have to SB as well, he did not care that even if all attacks ceased immeadiately, the radiation would cripple the entire Balkan region and possibly all of Earth. He did not even care about anything anymore.
Dark, gloomy, unecessary, but an itneresting take of what could happen. Shall we just assume I meant what I said in my rebuke to yours that I meant to invite Mostar to the war games and carry on from there?
Commonwealth of Slavic Byzantium - May 24, 2005 02:55 PM (GMT)
I'm going to have to agree that this seems a lot like godmodding
USSM (Makharovsk) - May 24, 2005 04:54 PM (GMT)
Rule #1 of RPing: Never state the enemies casualties. That's godmodding.
Rule #2 of RPing: Give your target(s) some warning first.
Rule #3 of RPing: Pay attention to the regional rules on this sort of thing.
Well then, let's see what a bloated, runaway military budget can do!
OOC: Yeah, SB, my navy sucks. :(
;)
-Mostarvia- - May 24, 2005 05:54 PM (GMT)
IC:
The seven Mostarvian submarines, deep and low below the waves, each carrying multiple nuclear missiles, had not heard from naval base command for 30 minutes. The commanders of all seven submarines agreed this was a bad sign, and the solution was to play the end game.
The nuclear missiles activated, they flew towards Slavic Byzantium, USSM and Edessia, who were still crippled from the EMP effect, and unable to intercept, was devastated, being wiped off the map through multiple nuclear blasts that incenerated all Slavic Byzantium, USSM and Edessian lives in a heat blast that melted skin before turning it into ashes.
The three nations were reduced to happy gloworms. City dweller, Town resident, village idiot, hamlet residents, it did not matter. All were destroyed.
......
........
"....and that is what the computer predicts would happen should we take the course through EMP's, and what the counter would be from those three nations." Said the spotty Mostarvian technician wrinking his nose, his eyes squinting behind his glasses as he looked up at the Mostarvian Military official.
"No shit." The Mostarvian military official replied matter of factly, wondering if this event would ever occur.
Soon enough, the President was informed of the computer simulation results, his words being "At least we die all together, and get the last laugh."
Words that caused concern and rumblings among the Mostarvian Military and MUSS upon later reflection.
OOC: Fooled ya! heh heh heh. It was indeed a war game.
Godmodding hints: Noted.
One thing: Number of EMP missiles would be plentiful because of miltary budget thankyou.
EMP info interesting SB, thanks. but I was aware of it, but had the technology refined.
USSM (Makharovsk) - May 24, 2005 05:58 PM (GMT)
How, pray, is MAD 'getting the last laugh'?
International Terrans - May 24, 2005 07:56 PM (GMT)
OOC: Yeah, that was a rather disgusting godmod. Seriously, tone it down a bit. No matter your military mudget (and FYI, even my little peacenik nation has a larger one than yours, I end up spending 16% of my GDP on defence - not budget, GDP), that's still godmodding.
Commonwealth of Slavic Byzantium - May 24, 2005 08:26 PM (GMT)
EMP's can be constructed for very cheap. It isn't totally inconceivable to have so many...except the number of chips required to launch that many missiles with the range required is unrealisitc. Look at how many were launched in Gulf War 1, not all that many.
you bugger I thought so =P Also let's not forget the hunting SB navy and the hundreds of fighters on the combined 4 carriers, entirely possible to intercept, ah well, I don't wanna touch this scenario anymore. Waste of time and got us nowhere.

OOC: Have a word with yourself. 'Disgusting'? 'Disgusting'?
I'll tell you what's disgusting sunshine. Hundreds of thousands of people left to starve to death in concentration camps in the Darfur region of Sudan, facing the fact that if they leave, they are shot, or raped then shot.
That's disgusting. A phrase used in such a predicament where the UN refuses to call it a genocide because it's not one 'yet'.
Apparently we must wait for millions to die.
I'll tell you what else is disgusting, demonstrators in Uzbekistan protesting for democracy being mowed down in their hundreds by the Uzbek army on orders of Karimov who enjoys boiling people alive in boiling water.
Supported by the US Administration all the while, because they don't want an Islamist government in Uzbekistan.
So no, International Terrans, I won't accept my RP as 'disgusting' thankyou very much, for it does not fit in with the above two scenarios I properly call disgusting.
Seriously, if you want to be all rightous, be rightous about the right things and get some sodding perspective, and get over your pompous self.
Byzantian - May 25, 2005 02:34 PM (GMT)
ooc: Chill out dude.
The term 'disgusting' can be applied to many things, godmod being one of them.
You cant compare those two scenarios you gave, to this.
USSM (Makharovsk) - May 25, 2005 04:42 PM (GMT)
Yup. (Hopefully) Godmodding doesn't involve mass genocide, rape and/or martial law.
And godmodding isn't really disgusting, just annoying. So everyone calm down a bit.

OOC: Wow, can you say "Overreaction"?
You sir, are a hypocrite. You storm in here, try to turn the region on its head, and call me pompous? I'm merely pointing out that you're being unrealistic in that role play. Not that I mind what you're doing, so much as how you're doing it.
Godmodding defeats the entire purpose of RP, and even wargames about launching thousands of EMP missiles is pretty bad even by the standards of the II forum on NationStates. That's why it was disgusting. Don't flame me for having something other than your narrow interpretation of the word "disgusting".
Get some "sodding" manners. Don't even try comparing Darfur to this, because you're just avoiding the subject.
USSM (Makharovsk) - May 25, 2005 08:37 PM (GMT)
Can't we all just get along?
International Terrans - May 25, 2005 09:13 PM (GMT)
OOC: You'd have to talk to Mostarvia about that - I'm all for peace, at least right now.
Edessia - May 25, 2005 11:50 PM (GMT)
Damnit i missed out ont he war that kicked mostarvia's ass! damnit damnit! maybe thats why he left the region, what a tiemf or the video card to crap out,w ell i gotta go!
Commonwealth of Slavic Byzantium - May 26, 2005 04:11 AM (GMT)
Dang...he was alright. A shame he's gone.
Molvanja - May 27, 2005 08:51 PM (GMT)
I stand against Mostarvia and all that they stand for! We have begun to deport Mostarvian citizens, and will soon mobilize and join the Allied Forces. We must succeed!
Byzantian - May 29, 2005 04:43 AM (GMT)
He left?
Why?
Because people are pointing out to him his godmod?
Or for another reason?...
Katja of Zahumlje - May 30, 2005 02:39 AM (GMT)
Zahumlje is relieved. The region doesn't need that sort of volatility to have a good time! Zahumlje is going to host a HUGE rock festival.
