Title: Foriegn Relations

Byzantian - May 8, 2005 09:47 AM (GMT)
The Byzantine Federal government is interested in signing a non-aggression pact(nap), and a mutual defence treaty(mdt) with the following nations:(all active RP nations that I remembered)
    Thracia
    Bulgarska
    Edessia
    Le Due Sicilia
    Slavic Byzantium
    Kretia
    The Bulgarite
    Zahumlje
The BANAP, or Balkan Allied non aggression pact, basically is an agreement, that those who sign on to it, will not attack one another, rather will pursue peacefull relations with each other.
We hope we see all listed nations sign on to it, as the only way forward, is through peace and co-operation.

The Balkan Allied mutual defence treaty, for those who sign on to it, will require them to assist in time of need. However, they are not required to send assistance, of any sort, unless the nation which requires assistance, specifically asks for assistance. At which point, logistical support, etc, will be sent.

This will also limit, severely, any chances of a wider regional war erupting, however, that also depends on how many of the above nations sign both the NAP and MDT.

However, having said the above, the Byzantine Federal government is also willing to sign NAPs and MDTs with individual nations, certainly so if the BANAP and BAMDT are not ratified.

(ooc: I kept them both simple, because simple is best. No complicating clauses, or "ifs" or "buts" or etc. Also, sorry if I forgot anyone who is very active, just post here if interested).

-Mostarvia- - May 8, 2005 11:27 AM (GMT)
Official Mostarvian Government Statement:

The President, on behalf of the people and government of The People's Red Mostar Union of Mostarvia, would be interested to hear the explanation of why Byzantian does not appear to seek a non-aggression pact with The People's Red Mostar Union of Mostarvia, in the list provided by Byzantian to the regional and international community.

Such an event leads such an occurance to many interesting questions.

Goran Landivic,
The People's Red Mostar Union of Mostarvia Foreign Affairs Minister

The Bulgarite - May 8, 2005 07:52 PM (GMT)
The Government of The FDR of The Bulgarite will seriously consider signing the Balkan Allied non aggression pact and the Balkan Allied mutual defence treaty.

Molvanja - May 8, 2005 08:22 PM (GMT)
President Karkov and his Cabinet have expressed interest in joining the Non-Agression Pact. We would like to put our names on the list.

Commonwealth of Slavic Byzantium - May 9, 2005 12:04 AM (GMT)
His Royal Highness and Prime Minister have expressed great interest in it. The parliament has appointed myself as the plenipotentiary for the signing of said agreements should I see it be fit. On behalf of HRH Constantine XLIII and Prime Minister Tatjana Lagumdzija, we wish to sign the MDT and NAP.

Minister of Foreign Relations
George Poulopoulos

The Kingdom of Slavpo - May 10, 2005 01:00 AM (GMT)
we're interested

Byzantian - May 10, 2005 01:53 AM (GMT)
We are glad to see the excellent response so far, and happy that so many nations share the same 'vision' of the region as we do.

Thracia - May 10, 2005 10:48 AM (GMT)
We consider The Balkans as a de-facto non-agression area. All members are considered to have pledged no to attack militarily another member. A non-aggression pact, therefore, is unnecessary.

However, we are interested in developing our cooperation with Byzantian even in military affairs.

USSM (Makharovsk) - May 11, 2005 05:01 PM (GMT)
We'd be very interested in signing both pacts. We assumed that the non-agression pact was against hostile actions such as sanctions or blockades, as opposed to actual conflict, by the way.
OOC: I'd be a little uneasy about the mutual defence pact if there wasn't a peace enforced by Thracia in the Balkans. Seems reminicent of the origins of the First World War. A small, local conflict drags in all the major powers through alliance systems.

Two Sicilies - May 12, 2005 12:08 AM (GMT)
We are interested in a non-aggression pact, but we'd have to seriously consider whether it is in the best interest of all nations to sign mutual protection pacts.

Byzantian - May 12, 2005 01:53 AM (GMT)
ooc: Understandable, but Im not involved in any conflict, nor plan to be.

ic: We would like to encourage both nations to sign onto the Mutual Defence Treaty.
Bot the BANAP and BAMDT are aimed at creating peace.
