Title: Invitation to Military briefing in Adriatic See
Description: URGENT!

Tolomakia - April 13, 2005 02:38 PM (GMT)
To all nations that have sent vessels in the international waters of Adriatic See

Our intelligence reports are showing increased level of activities within the Mostarvian Army. It looks like the Mostarvians are now on the highest level of alert, which means that they are prepared for war.

I such case, we should be prepared to react quickly and to co-ordinate our actions. That’s why I am inviting the leading officers of all involved nations to a short reunion on the board of our Nicolina AEGIS Cruiser. The purpose of the reunion will be to analyze the current international forces capabilities and decide whatever our reactions will be to a potential Mostarvian aggression on sea, air or land.

Please let me know your availability to participate as soon as possible.

Admiral Atanasie Stancu,
Tolomakian Chief of Operations in Adriatic

USSM (Makharovsk) - April 13, 2005 05:57 PM (GMT)
I will send a delegation of officers from the Red Fleet as soon as possible.

We have not sent any constituents to the Adriatic Sea. However, we would ask of the region to clarify what war is Mostarvia on alert for?

Is this a internalised civil situation or inter-national?

Byzantian - April 14, 2005 03:03 AM (GMT)
If it is possible, we would like to send four missile destroyers to the Adriatic to assist, as well as a hospital vessel.

Commonwealth of Slavic Byzantium - April 14, 2005 03:35 AM (GMT)
Hospital vessels would be greatly appreciated, we might need ships that can rapidly rescue survivors should mostar's navy be more formidable than we originally thought. Missile destroyers would be just dandy to provide further air defence. The tighter the air defence the better for all of us.

We also cannot ignore ASW, if they really are Soviet style in terms of military, chances are they'll be packing subs, we have extensive ASW given our 4 carriers' Hokum choppers and destroyer escorts. Nothing beats Russian designs I say.

Admiral Diomedes along with our Minister of Defence has decided Air Commodore Akilina Capodistria, Admiral of The Fleet Basileios Diomedes, and Lieutenant-General Peter Koumoundouros to represent each of our main elements will be sent. They should be in fact about 200 feet below and 400 off of Nicolina's starboard by now and sending a signal informing you of their presence and requesting permission to come aboard with an honour guard of 12 marines.

Our deciphers have not yet managed to discover the message sent, we thank you for informing us that it was ordering all Mostar forces onto war alert.

Official Mostarvian Government Statement:

*Molan Mandorovic, Mostar Castle Spokesperson, takes to the podium in the press room in Mostar Castle.*

Good afternoon.

I can confirm that President Vladovic has ordered the armed forces of The People's Red Mostar Union of Mostarvia to be placed on a War Footing of DEFCON 1, in response to intelligence and evidence that foreign Navy vessels from an assortment of nations have deployed aggressively outside Mostarvian waters, and appear to be arranging an attack on The People's Red Mostar Union of Mostarvia on the basis of lies, slanderous accusations, and the inflation of bravado egos.

The President wishes to repeat that, Hostility will be met with Hostility, which will lead to the sound defeat of any nation or anyone who takes up a weapon or act against The People's Red Mostar Union of Mostarvia.

The President also wishes it to be known, on behalf of The glorious people and government of The People's Red Mostar Union of Mostarvia, that if war should should be thrust upon The People's Red Mostar Union of Mostarvia, that a hard rain is going to fall upon the attackers, that of Mostarvian fury and strength like that the world has never seen.

The President loves his people, and his nation, as do all Mostarvians, and such a strength, together with the combined arms of The People's Red Mostar Union of Mostarvia, will result in the annihilation of any enemy who makes themselves one through foolish acts.

No questions.

*Molan Mandorovic, Mostar Castle Spokesperson, leaves the podium and exits room to a chorus of the press asking questions.*

USSM (Makharovsk) - April 14, 2005 10:49 AM (GMT)
Is that all you can do? You must have placed your forces on DEFCON 1 three times in a row now.

Commonwealth of Slavic Byzantium - April 14, 2005 02:08 PM (GMT)
Fellow Brothers,

After looking into the metaphors that Mostarvia has been using to explain how we will be eliminated(since the Mostarvian President's speeches always seem to include some sort of metaphor or simile when war related), and given the fact that Mostarvia has had military parades with a full compliment of their NBC arsenal (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) we have placed our entire air force that is still in Slavic Byzantium on full nuclear alert. All suborbital fighters have been loaded with air-to-space anti satellite/ICBM (ASAS)missiles ready to strike them down before they reach our airspace. Given the ecological and humanitarian disaster this would cause to bordering nations, we request all nations that border Mostar airspace do the same and allow us to bring our air force to their bases to allow for timely counter for the possibility of NBC attacks. All multirole fighters of which one of the roles include an interceptor ability have been fitted with ANRAAM's to strike down any approaching bombers or fighters.

We are completing a search on all Mostar NBC launchers and silos with spy satellites, within the next 6 hours we will have complted a full analysis of all launch sites Mostar could have on their territory and so we will be ready to launch a preemptive strike to cripple their ability to use such weapons against us.

It has been reported that an undisclosed number of suborbital fighter squadrons have been spotted on maneuvers unusually close to violating the air space of several nations off the Adriatic. We have no comment and deny the claim that they originated from SB air bases.

USSM (Makharovsk) - April 14, 2005 03:53 PM (GMT)
Please, let us know your findings with regard to Mostarvia's WMD as soon as possible. We are currently working with a number of Makharovsk's best psychoanalysts in order to determine President Vladovic's mental/psychological state. If he is found to be psychologically insound, and in possession of WMD, we move for a pre-emptive strike, as a method of self-defence from a clear and present danger to regional stability. This morning, a Bill of Emergency Conscription was passed by Makharovsk's parliament, and we expect our additional troops to be mobilised soon. Our air defence command, Voyska PVO, has been warned of the possibility of NBC attack. If our forces in the Adriatic Sea at any time lose radio contact with their commanders in Makharovsk for more than 5 minutes, they will initiate full combat operations against Mostarvia. Once more, we advise the Mostarvian president not to commit to a path of action he will later regret.
OOC: This could well lead to the 'International Incidents' section of NationStates' forums.

Tolomakia - April 15, 2005 08:54 AM (GMT)
Thank you all for joining this meeting. I think we should dedicate our time to discuss about local operations and let our politicians deal with the diplomatic and political issues.

As far as my mandate goes, I am here to react to any Mostarivan aggression against other nation. Our forces do not have a mandate to attack Mostarvia so far.

Our intelligence reports are showing that Mostarvian air forces are no match for our X22b planes and we can secure the sky if necessary. We have two carriers in these waters and, if necessary, other planes can join the air fight from our bases back home.

Also, the Mostarvian military ships are not my primary concern. I have four escort battleships (two AEGIS cruisers and two AEGIS destroyers) and two nuclear submarines. Together with the X22b squadrons it should not be a problem to defend ourselves, even if we are outnumbered. Of course, on long term we will need reinforcements and your help to win this war.

But I am concerned about the Mostarvian submarines. It looks like Mostarvia is using soviet technologies and have many submarines with advanced technologies. We only have two Sprutance-class anti-submarine destroyers and I am not sure if I can stand a massive submarine attack without heavy looses. This may be our week point but we can turn the situation in our advantage with your combined help.

As you may see I am mainly speaking about defense and reaction, I have to underline once more that our government has not decided to attack Mostarvia yet. It is also important to notice that in case of war we may easily win the sky and even the waters but any ground attack may lead to a long and bloody war.

This is our position in this conflict. What about yours?

Admiral Atanasie Stancu,
Tolomakian Chief of Operations in Adriatic

Commonwealth of Slavic Byzantium - April 15, 2005 01:30 PM (GMT)
Fellow brothers,

Indeed, their air force is nowhere enar as powerful as we originally imagined. Our primary concern still remains that Mostarvia might use WMDs.

We are more than capable of providing the ASW support. We have just over two dozen destroyers and 4 squadrons of KA-28 ASW helicopters, one of each stationed on our carriers. They are able to detect, track, and destroy any submarines up to a depth of 500 metres, ensuring the protection we need from submarine attack on our vessels. Each helicopter is armed with one homing torpedo and one rocket torpedo along with a dozen various bombs.

In regards to their army we concur. Although their armour will be relatively easily knocked out with our MI-24P and V helicopters, armed with the Ataka missile. The Ataka missile's guidance is by narrow radar beam, and the maximum range of the missile is 8km. The average target range is between 3-6km. The target hit probability of the Ataka missile is higher than 0.96 at ranges 3-6km. The missile has a shaped-charge 7.4kg warhead, with a tandem charge for penetration of 800mm thick explosive reactive armour.

We are in agreement for the time being.

In order to assist your ASW needs, the Stefan Dusan task force is ready to be dispatched toy our fleet to provide ASW protection whenever you wish to receive it.

Admiral of The Fleet
Basileios Diomedes

USSM (Makharovsk) - April 15, 2005 02:34 PM (GMT)
Our primary concern is also the use of WMDs. Although we have some airborne ASW assets, our first priority should war be declared will be to land our ground forces in Mostarvia. Should Tolomakia gain air superiority, an attack by land on Mostarvia's long-range artillery should become relatively easy. However, we will need ground support from other nations to succeed with this. Should the Tolomakian government allow us to use their airbases as staging points, we could ship our troops into the country. If we retain the initiative and gain control of a beachhead quickly, I see no reason why we cannot succeed in a land invasion of Mostarvia. On the subject of ASW, the 21st Naval Air Squadron has been instructed to liase with the ASW assets of other coalition nations to provide ASW for our combined fleets.

Tolomakia - April 15, 2005 02:50 PM (GMT)
Regarding the WMD, we can only hope that the Mostarvian Government won’t be so foolish to actually use them. Such attack will be suicide, because the effects will probably be supported in the entire region, not only one nation.

Our global anti-missile shield it is capable to intercept and destroy any missile directed towards Tolomakia but this will not change the main issue: it does not really matter where the bomb explodes, it will still be too close!

However, we will retaliate with our nuclear arsenal if Mostarvia will use WMD.

Commonwealth of Slavic Byzantium - April 15, 2005 08:21 PM (GMT)
We have completed analyzing all of Mostarvia and located any possible silos and launchers for WMDs. Should we be required to actually intervene militarily, we can completely cripple their ability to launch any sort of WMD attack on us on a moment's notice.

*writes on a piece of paper to ensure total security...it says*
The suborbital fighter squadron rumours that have been spreading in fact are of SB origin, within 10-20 seconds they can move into Mostar airspace, a further 20 seconds lock on to multiple targets, cripple them, and move out again in 2 minutes total maximum.

Admiral of The Fleet
Basileios Diomedes

Byzantian - April 16, 2005 04:37 AM (GMT)
Following the threat of WMD bieng used, air defences in Byzantine Nations have been put on red status(basically defcon1). This is a war status, however only the Air defences are on this status.

If WMD of any kind are indeed used, it is our belief that a complete and total land invasion, backed by air dominance and a barrage of missiles via Naval vessels in th Adriatic.

Our carriers are not yet ready for service. We have two, which are still bieng put through thier paces, before bieng declared operational. A further three are under construction. If need be, the two completed carriers will be deployed to assist operations in the Adriatic.
We curently only have three subs which are required for homeland defence.(Greek Isles).
Our military has undergone severe overhaul and modernisation, and only now is the navy starting to see this. Our Army was the first, and is "battle ready". Our air force is in decent shape, with next generation aircraft due to be put in service in the coming months, such as the A23 'Black Widow"(fighter) and LT60(bomber).

ooc: thats more or less a brief run down of my nations military, relevant but lso irrelevant to the thread lol

USSM (Makharovsk) - April 16, 2005 08:58 AM (GMT)
Should invasion be necessary, I recommend we gather our collective infantry and armour and move to the capital as quickly as possible, assuming, of course, that WMD silos can be destroyed/incapacitated from the air.

Commonwealth of Slavic Byzantium - May 3, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
Indeed, but tensions are slightly cooling off. Just might not be necessary.

USSM (Makharovsk) - May 3, 2005 05:07 PM (GMT)
Perhaps. We are stepping our military forces down to DEFCON2. Be advised, however, that the Red Fleet will remain in position off Mostarvia for as long as we deem necessary.

Commonwealth of Slavic Byzantium - May 3, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
As well our own indefinately.
