Zahumljani Entries so far,
Drama: St. Georges Day, this is a historical drama that deals with the story of how Jace was saved by the women and girls of Jace. It tells how they lured the Osmanli Turks into a trap set by General Peter Keglevic. ummm Mel Gibson eat your sorry heart out, this has twice the blood and the rolling heads of Braveheart and it's better arranged, plus many more beautiful women.

Comedy: Mujo and Fata's Big Fat Zahumljani Wedding. You'll laugh, you'll cry, it will change your life!

Documentary: Red Sunset: This is about the pensioners in the first pensioners home for Socialists in Zahumlje. It's a very touching film. It has real Zahumljani pensioners who really live there, and the story of their lives. The oldest man and woman in Zahumlje are in this film. The woman is 130 and her brother is 124. Hauntingly beautiful.

Restoration: Braniteljima Stjepanagrad the Story of a Siege gone Horribley Wrong Bad and Awful. This film is ten years old it shows a very much younger Tatijana Zivkovic and other real-life defenders of Stjepanagrad during the Civil War and War of Liberation. Very rare and good real life footage is included.

Animation: The Cuckoo Family, some Cuckoos decide to quite being the no- work elements they are of the Feathered Kingdom and to be at last responsible parents. Excellent Socialist Values. Marvelous color, and the music is lovely Zahumljani folk tunes.

The Kingdom of Slavpo - March 23, 2005 08:47 AM (GMT)
absolutely smashing film festival this will be. Slavpo's top film postgraduates will be entering their hits and pieces.

Demoritus - March 23, 2005 10:17 PM (GMT)
Greetings,

Drama: The Windows - Movie about ancient warrior and great leader from Demoritus, Konstantin II. It's about his hard but succeful life. It opens doors of privacy, describing Konstantin's whole private life and truthful situations. Including his good and bad steps, even his assination.

Comedy: Iced Earth - Movie that'll make you rolling on the floor laughing your ass off. Fantastically arranged comedy that shows what all can go wrong if you forget at least one thing to do.

Documentary: Fight for freedom - Movie about demonstrations, protests and fights against dictatorship and communism in Demoritus.. Surely a favourite in this category, it won't let you to close your eyes during projection.

Film Restoration: Not yet appointed.

Animation: North Park - Something like South Park, but with many improvements and with situations that more equals to The Balkans.. Popular by young and old population.

Best regards,
President of Movie Association of Demoritus,
Dejan Kojovic.

Annoyastan - March 26, 2005 12:39 PM (GMT)
Our thanks for the kind comments regarding our poster. Once again, the fine comrades at IntelliSelli, the socialist marketing collective, have outdone themselves.

Thank you also for the early submissions.

Preparations are well underway in PeZ for the festival, and Annoyastani film makers have been submitting films to our film board for selection.

Excitement is building here, and there has been a lot of positive buzz about the films already on the agenda, especially Iced Earth and Red Sunset.

PeZ International Film Festival Begins Monday

Time is running out for those film -makers who would like to enter the Second PeZ Film Festival. "We are surprised at the light turnout, but the films we are receiving are of very high quality, and it could be that others are intimidated at the level of competition," said Jean Picarzyk, AFA Director. "However, this is not really about competition -- this is about experiencing other cultures and artistic expression. The audience is the real winner here." Picarzyk stressed that films can still be entered, but that time is running out.

Movie fans are streaming into PeZ for the kickoff of the festivities, and the parties have already started. Pelozca consumption is "off the map" according the the Annoyastani National Drink Pelozca Association, and it's getting difficult to locate snack products. "The whole city smells like buttered popcorn," said one film fan. "This is going to be so so so great. I hear that the Tolomakian comedy, Here I Am, is incredible!"

Annoyastan - April 11, 2005 04:37 PM (GMT)
FILM FESTIVAL OPENS TODAY
11 April 2005 - PeZ – (ANO) Thousands of Balkanites have filled the hotels of PeZ this week for the second annual PeZ Film Festival, and festival organizers expect the festival to be marked by sold out performances. We have less product this year, for some reason,” said AFA director Jean Picarzyk, “but the quality is very high. No one will be disappointed, I can promise you that.”

A number of Hollywood celebrities have been seen walking the streets of PeZ, including Sophia Coppola, Sean Penn, Ben Stiller, Martin Scorcese, and Cate Blanchett. Picarzyk was unable to verify particular celebrities, but acknowledged that “there is a sizeable Hollywood contingent. They come here looking for new ideas, and, of course, to enjoy the delights of PeZ.”

Tolomakia - April 13, 2005 03:01 PM (GMT)
Over 5,000 Tolomakians have decided to visit Annoystan these days, using the opportunity offered by the International Film Festival. Most of them are young people. The reporters of Tolomakian Channel 1 (TC1) are there with them and here are some opinions:

“Hey, Pez is great, there is lot of this Polzca thingy and we are all soooooooo happy about it” says one young man while drinking from a strange bottle.

“We have some quality films in the festival, I don’t see why our artists shouldn’t get back home some prizes”, says a male, “especially Here I Am, this one is great”!

“Don’t lesson to him, he’s not understanding one thing about arts”, argues immediately a girl nearby, “the Festival is about multiculturalism, about exchanges, about sharing, not about competitions! We’ll all win from seeing all these movies”

“Yeah, right, what is to win from the stupid Mostarvian documentary about their dictator?!”

“Movie techniques, manipulating techniques, it’s all about arts! But you can’t understand a bit, isn’t it, moron?”

“Who are you calling a moron, you stupid b*ch?!”

“Let’s see what the mature generation thinks”, quickly says the reporter and heads towards an elderly gentlemen.

“Shhht! I’m here with a mission! This Petrescu women is a spy, she is here to sell the secret of our wonder-plane to all our enemies! I will stop her! The movie will not be presented or I’ll have to kill all spectators!”

“Ok, let’s have one more interview”, whispers the reporter desperately seeking the salvation in a group of hippy-looking boys and girls.

“Dude, this is awesome! Like the culture, dude, the arts, you know what I mean, like beats away any war, dude. Like the stupid Mostarvians and crazy Islamic guard are just killing each other a couple of kilometers from here, dudr, like over the border, but we don’t give a sh*t, dude, like we are so hot, dude, with movies and all, I heard there is a movie showing some guy Ludovic, president or something fuc*ing a horse, a horse, dude, a horse, isn’t this awesome?!”

“Ladies and gentlemen, this concludes our filed report for the Second International Film Festival. We are here seeing good and very good movies, having fun and knowing each other and s… What?! Let go my microphone! You crazy old bastard!”

Katja of Zahumlje - April 13, 2005 08:55 PM (GMT)
***ZNN***Stars Come Out Tonight!

Due to regional events which have been in the words of gossip columnist 'Gabi' Gabrijela Alipashic, the stars had a late start. 'Well you know how it is in Zahumlje, an official mourning period for someone of the rank this was proclaimed for, well we don't do anything to make ourselfs pretty, or anything for three days at least, because of who was well we had to go longer. So mourning isn't going to end until two days in the film festival. So we hope the Annoyastanis will understand.' Anyway, we brought things nice to wear after those two days, otherwise everyone agree to wear black until then. Is bad for glamour maybe but good for heart'
The cast of the film '' is huge, since there were many extras, Medieval historic drama results in that sort of thing but the stars Irina Pavkovic, who plays the most beautiful of the peasant girls, Leila Vukovic, who plays Katarina Vukcic-Kosaca, Zdenka Vukorepa, cast as Mrs. Keglevic, Aleksander Zlataric, who is General Petar Keglevic, Ivo Banic who plays Vlakto Vukcic-Kosaca,St George's Day
put up money so that the entire cast could come. They arrived in about 20 World Socialist Travel charter busses. It was difficult as the border closure with Mostarvia necessitated a lengthy detour through Hrvatska. Nto a problem but there was a distinc shortage of restrooms and the traffic through Carinska Kontrol was simply terrible. A lot of people are driveing to PeZ, from all over the Balkans. Even the stiffer border crossing regime in Zahumlje hasn't stopped huge numbers of the population of the Balkans from going.
'We hope Annoyastan doesn't sink under the load of people! ' joked Zelko Petric, of the Policija Granica Zahumlje.
The animators from Kolektiva Animazija Socialiski who made the charming film 'The Cuckoo Family'
All of them wore t-shirts with the poster for ''The Cuckoo Family'
'We predict this film will beat out both 'South Park' and 'Simpsoni' throughout the Balkans in the next month or two.Kolektiva Animazija Socijaliski has contracted with 'The Toy People' and 'The Plastic People' to make 'Cukoo Family' related items. 'We are gonna have a lot of 'Cuckoo stuff, whe are gonna drive the whole of the Balkans totally Cuckoo!' said Zenda Arapovic. 'Yes we will, and ZYSL is going to benefit from all of this too! said Mate Granic, the designer of this film.
Cast members of 'Red Sunset' could not travel so easily due to age and infirmities, in most cases, but the oldest man and woman in Zahumlje WILL be there to represent the cast. The film maker himself is also comeing, and the director of the Socialist Pensioners Home portrayed in the film.
Stay tuned to ZNN for all your festival coverage,
'It's the Next Best Thing to Being There!'
so long from

Balkan News Network Reporting!

"Layla Mayavic here, reporting LIVE from Annoyastan on the latest HOT and EXCLUSIVE showbiz news.

Well, all sorts of movies seem to be orders of the day here...."

*Looks over to a group of burly young Mostarvian men waving huge Mostarvian flags*

"Hey! Hey! What do you think of the festival this year?"

"It's OK." says one, looking at the woman up and down. "That film, 'Shoot as many of them as you can' Looks a blast!"

"Er...yeah, what about foreign films though?" Layla asks them.

"Sod that manure....'Farewell Father'....now that's a film....they showed it on TV in Mostarvia recently. President Lodovic was a great man." says a second Mostarvian.

The other Mostarvians cheer their approval.

"Er....so have you heard about the Srebnyian film?" Layla asks tentatively.

A pause.

"What?" says one Mostarvian in a flat tone.

"What do you mean?" another asks.

Layla goes timid. "Well er, the Srebnyian Islamic Guard have made a film about...about er-"

"B******S! WHERE ARE THEY?! EH? EH?!!" Bellows one Mostarvian.

"WHERE ARE THEY?! WE'LL BREAK THEM!" says another.

"WE WILL NOT HAVE THIS COMRADES! THIS IS DISGUSTING! DESTROY THE PLACE!" screams a third.

The Mostarvians, flags waving, charge towards the screening rooms, in full riotous mode.

Katja of Zahumlje - April 15, 2005 06:18 PM (GMT)
The cast of 'St. George's Day' arrived in their hotel, they decided to go around in their costumes from the film for the eintire festival, so various Zahumljani are around in Medieval dress, some in the dress of Osmanli Turks.
They looked out the windows of the hotel, and saw the Pellozca fueled Mostarvians down on the streets and decided it would be totally silly to go out just yet.
Instead they decided to ask permission of the kitchen staff to put together a complete Zahumljani feast themselves for their guests, film fans from all over the Balkans.
Hvala Bog! we brought lots of medovaca! 'Yeah! f*** the pizza f*** the Pellocza all we need is medovaca!' one of them quipped. 'We're so glad Annoyastanis have a sense of humor! smiled Makmud Mirkovic, Pellocza Skull Splitter is not to be taken lightly, but medovaca, the national drink of Zahumlje gets you really really drunk, but you don't get a hangover, it's lovely stuff even better we brought the most elite drink of Zahumljani origin, ruzamedovaca, it's made from rose mead, rhodomel is the classic name for it.
The traditional Zahumljani fare sent a lovely scent throughout the hotel. Things remained very decorous.

In a quieter hotel, the oldest man and woman from Zahumlje, hosted a cast party which was catered by volunteers from ZYSL. They are the two 'stars' of 'Red Sunset' and they just wanted a simple meal of all the things their doctors try to get them NOT to eat, and there the lozo flowed, and Paganian dishes were served.

'The Cuckoo Family' cast served macaroni and cheese and hosted a children's party. The noise level was simply terrible despite the total lack of 'adult beverages' but the children were happy to recieve the first 'Cuckoo Family' merchandise
'Braniteljima Sveti Stjepan' was a very wild party, strobe lights loud Zahumljani 'turbofolk' and crazed water pistol fights marked the festivities. Tatiana Zivkovic came in and gave all the extras packs of cigarettes, 'Back in the war times, well cigarettes meant a lot ot us, we hope that the Annoyastani understand, that's why I had them put up a tent on the lawn, so our extras would have a place to smoke, since the hotel is Non Smokeing.
(still included from this film at end of story)
at the cast party for 'Mujo and Fata's Big Fat Zahumljani Wedding' there were a few fistfights, lots of music from gajda and trumpet, yet more turbofolk, BAD jokes,

'man the joke Mujo told about his wife and the bear!!!joooooooooj that was so rank it ruled!' said one bystander.
The highest consumption of Pelocza was at this party, 'We have to broaden our horizons! ' said Suljo and Fata said 'Right on! We are here to show that Zahumljani Muslims know how to PAAARTY!!!! we aren't fundamentailsts or mudzahadin, just the biggest party animals in the whole Balkans!'

The presence of 'film louts' was a new twist on events. this reporter had to duck and dodge, almost as much as when he was liveing in besieged Sveti Stjepan!

Annoyastan - April 16, 2005 11:58 AM (GMT)
FILM FESTIVAL CONCLUDES

14 April 2005 – PeZ – (ANS) The Second Annual PeZ International Film Festival concluded with a wild celebration in downtown PeZ and an extravagant display of fireworks. “We were very pleased by the success of the festival,” said Jean Picarzyk, AFA Director. “The crowds flocked to the films and the films were very high quality. Many have come up to me and told me how much they are looking forward to next year.”

Though the Festival was a great success, the good times were marred by violence when Mostarvian “Film Hooligans,” sought to disrupt a showing of “The Will,” a documentary entered by Srebnyia. It was ironic and perhaps appropriate that the hooligans accidentally went to the wrong theater, disrupting a showing of the Mostarvian animated film “Shoot as many of them as you can,” and then became embroiled in a tremendous fight with the Mostarvians viewing the film, with each side shouting “traitor” at the other. All participants in the fight were arrested by internal security forces, and ejected from Annoyastan, and the Film Association has taken on repairs of the theater and surrounding retail stores.

There were two other major surprises at the festival, the first being Jean Picarzyk escorting Jessica Alba to every film and every event. Though Picarzyk says, “We are just good friends,” it did seem to be more than that.

The final surprise came at the awards banquet, when Zahumlje’s “Red Sunset” was selected as both best Documentary and Best Film of the Festival by the judges. Many had expected the hometown “Who Killed President Molkt?” to sweep both these honors, but the judges were very moved by the Zahumlje film, and embraced the story of the aged pensioners. The Awards banquet was another huge success, with dancing to music from all nations and the famed Contest of National Beverages, in which Pelozca was, once again, victorious.

Best Drama – Demoritus, The Windows
Best Comedy – Tolomakia, Here I Am
Best Documentary – Zahumlje, Red Sunset
Best Restoration – Annoyastan, Only the Moon
Best Animation – Tolomakia, Where is that Cat?
Best Film – Zahumlje, “Red Sunset”
Audience Prize - Annoyastan - Everything the Same, Everything Distinct

The Annoyastani Filmic Arts Association wishes to express its deep appreciation to all participating nations for helping to make this years festival a great success!

Katja of Zahumlje - April 16, 2005 07:00 PM (GMT)
***ZNN****NEWS FLASH

Zenda Alipasic 130 and her brother Akmet Hercegovic were delighted at the success of Red Sunset the story of the first Socialist Pensioner's Home in Zahumlje.
Zenda asked if it would be ok to have a shot of 'travarica' the infamous medicinal rakija drunk by elderly Zahumljani. 'Normally I prefer it 'cisto' but this situation has set my heart to beating too fast! Akmet said 'stop being such a hypocondriac! My sister, she's such a DRAMA QUEEN!! She always says something exciteing makes her need travarica!
Both sat back to enjoy the danceing. The extras from 'Saint George's Day' danced some old type Zahumljani dances and the cast of the 'Cuckoo Family'
passed out 'Cuckoo' merchandise and led the audience in a chorus of the ''Cuckoo Family' theme song, 'Everything is Cuckoo!'

Everything is Cuckoo

<cuckoo call here>
Everything is Cuckoo
Everybody is Cuckoo
living in a Cuckoo world
<cuckoo cuckoo>
Doing cuckoo things
Making everything even more
<Cuckooo Cuckooo Cuckooo >
C'mon and dance our Cuckoo Kolo!
<cuckoo cuckooo cuckooo cuckooo>

The bratty little Cuckoo Family son was represented by a child dressed as a cuckoo and jumped up in down on a table leading the cuckoo chorus each time, flapping his little wings.
The song is guarenteed to drive parents throughout the Balkans ludo as the film will go into syndication starting tomorrow in Zahumlje.
The Queen has decreed that non-Balkans children's shows will be phased out, so that native film and animation producers will have a chance. "This is part of why the

Cuckoo Family was produced, so that people could have a chance to see Zahumljani animation and so that Socialist Monarchist values could be propagated.

Fata and Mujo and the rest of the viillage sat telling bad jokes until it was time to leave. One of them almost got into a bad fight with a few Mostarvian 'filmski huligani' but Fata told such a bad joke that the Mostarvians laughed so hard they didn't want to fight. 'Sorry ma'am beg your pardon we thought you's wuz Srebeniyans!' 'Srebenijani mogu puse k** moj muza!' said Fata. Then some Srebeniyans at the other table in disgust requested another table, far from the cast of 'Mujo and Fata's Big Fat Zahumljani Wedding' 'We just can't stand Fata and her atitude problem! She's not a very good Muslim, those Zahumljani are so nekulturny! '
'We might be 'bezkulturno' but we are polite damit!' said Mujo 'Damn Straight' said Suljo and Ibo at once.

The cast of the restored film Braniteljima Sveti Stjepan all went out for a cigarette in the smokeing tent. 'We just are glad so many got to see our film.' said one old vetran. 'We go smoke a little and then come eat some more nema problema ok?'
The Film Academy of The Socialist Monarchy of Zahumlje chair Miho Ferhadic said 'We really had a great time in Annoyastan, we feel so good for the excellent showing of Zahumljani film, and the great chance to see films from other Balkans nations, it was a wonderful time, we can't wait to come again to this lovely nation for the next festival!
Zahumljani film fans in some cases headed home, but quite a few decided to visit Annoyastan's famed tourist sites and go home at the end of the weekend.
