Title: International Court of Justice
Description: A tough one..
Ancient Races - March 17, 2005 12:41 PM (GMT)
The Ancient One honors his RL - homeland (The Netherlands) by voting For!
Byzantian - March 17, 2005 01:02 PM (GMT)
We are for the creation of an ICJ.
(I think it would add more spice to RP)
Edessia - March 19, 2005 01:04 AM (GMT)
an ICJ in real life, would make sense, i thought there was already, and here, do we need another layer of beuracracy? isnt the BICJ good enough?
Everlasting snow - March 20, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
The Queen of Everlasting snow voted against this resolution because of her dislike of the french language, it's not acceptable to her that frence is one of the two main languages, this isn't also the case in the real world, spanish would be a more logical choice.
Byzantian - March 21, 2005 08:37 AM (GMT)
Edessia, I believe this is for the UN in NS, rather then the region. Correct me if Im wrong someone.
Katja of Zahumlje - March 21, 2005 03:57 PM (GMT)
The vote is a U.N. related vote, for or against a UN related agency.
Everlasting Snow, we share your opinion that French is not as good a language choice as Spanish. Still the value of a court is a good thing, for the world.
The Balkans has managed with luck and restraint not to have many cases need to even be in front of BICJ, but the same cannot be said for the rest of the world!
Edessia - March 22, 2005 12:01 AM (GMT)
i voted for, because im morally for it, but why should we support it when we run our own just fine, it'll create another layer of beauracracy in The Balkans, because we'll be under UN law, at least the UN nations will AND Balkan Regional Law.
Katja of Zahumlje - March 22, 2005 06:03 AM (GMT)
Excellency, this is not on the Regional level but on the World, UN level. so it doesn't really affect us.
Katja of Zahumlje - March 23, 2005 07:58 AM (GMT)
Well the question is moot anyway as the Resolution was defeated.
Edessia - March 24, 2005 08:40 PM (GMT)
good, but for those involved int he Un it affects them dually, like me. So im glad it was defeated in this case, but there really should be one in real life, isnt there?
Katja of Zahumlje - March 24, 2005 09:56 PM (GMT)
Actually th ere is one in RL, at the Hague.
Edessia - March 29, 2005 11:57 PM (GMT)
yeah i figured they would have put it there, or possibly in one of the other low countries, like belgium or luxembourg, but those countries have other international responsiblities already. Why they put the different international legal organizations all in that area? whats so special?
Katja of Zahumlje - March 30, 2005 02:34 AM (GMT)
Probably it's a matter of convenient location. Amsterdam is on all sorts of airline routes, ithe airport there has a superior level of security, been there, I've seen how it works...plus they run prisons well and tend to be objective. The Nehterlands are noted for staying out of sticky international messes. So they are well qualified.
Edessia - March 30, 2005 04:14 PM (GMT)
yeah, that makes good sense when you put it that way. But they usually get caught up in French-English-German conflict triangles, well sort of. Btw, the forum fun word association is alive again, i posted there, go post something, lets keep it going.
Macedonia - March 30, 2005 11:14 PM (GMT)
If the ICJ is like in the RL in Hague we will not support it.The reason is beacause there is no justice in Hague two Macedonians are there only beacause they had served to the fatherland and prottected Macedonia from the shiptars.
