Title: Phekny's Independence on the Table?

Phekny (Colony of DONRL) - February 13, 2005 05:29 PM (GMT)
**PNN** Should Phekny be given independence from the Mother nation of DONRL?

Don Smith: In light of the situation in Mostarvia, many Pheknians ponder their own dependance on a mother nation. At a recent support rally, this issue has come into new light. We got the opinions on this issue from many people. Independance for Phekny party leader, Hans Uther had this to say:

"We want an independent Phekny, not one run by bureaucrats from a nation who doesn't know our own problems! We want our own flag, and our own elected representatives! Not ones appointed by the "magnificent Dreadlord", he makes me sick. While the situation is not quite the same, our hearts go out to the people in Srebnyia. We know what it is like to be controlled by a nation unlike their our. We hope they win their battle and declare independence frokm Mostarvia! And who knows, we may stage our own rebellion sometime in the near future."

Don: While he has the right to his own opinion, that statement is almost considered treason. On the other end of the spectrum is Phekny's own Minister of Local Affairs. He had this to say anout Hans' statement:

"What a load of garbage. The motherland supports us and keeps us going! Without it our nation would surely fall! The Dreadlord is a magnificent leader, and if anything should be given stricter contol of our affairs. He knows what is best for us, and by the Lord's will I will follow him wherever he may go."

He develops a glazed look and stares fondly at the 10' by 10' portait of the Dreadlord. He then zones back in.

"This traitor should be imprisoned for those remarks. But because of the civil rights and political freedoms we have in theis nation he will not. I truly hope he does follow through with those plans for rebellion, then he will see how little support he has!"

Don: In other news, people are still protesting about the conflict in Mostarvia. It has been more than two days, and the people are still protesting the violence. But now it seems, the large group we saw a few days ago, has broken into two groups; one for the end of Mostarian violence, and a smaller one for Phekny's independence. The smaller group has been carefully wathced by the natoinal guard, and as of yet, have not caused any trouble. Now to Jason Forester in sports. Jason?....

Thracia - February 13, 2005 10:50 PM (GMT)
Given the fact that DONRL is in another region, Thracia would prefer to see an independent Phekny -- one that is not controlled from outside.

Nevertheless, we recognize that this is a decision that should be made by Phekny and DONRL.

We urge both nations to handle thi sissue peacefully and with civility.

Edessia - February 14, 2005 01:37 AM (GMT)
Edessia is in fact willing to help out Phekny in the their cause. Edessia also has its various colonies outside the region, such as The Grand Duchy of The Evil Dutch, which happens to be located close to DONRL. We, as Edessians, can see the need for indepenace, we do in fact have duchies under our control, but never in a hostile takeover, unlike DONRL. If Phekny needs absolutely any means in any shape way or form to break free, then Edessia shall supply them, this a confirmed statement from the top!

-Mostarvia- - February 14, 2005 10:43 AM (GMT)
The Islamic Republic of Srebnyia Islamic Guard Communique.

We Srebnyians of The Islamic Republic of Srebnyia hear the Pheknyians cry of support for our cause and right to independence, and it warms us that we have inspired you to strive for your own freedom.

We wish you well in your fight. May Allah be with you.

Allah willing, we shall both be victorious.

I am Andoran Mohammed Tasnovic, of The Srebnyia Islamic Guard of The Islamic Republic of Srebnyia, and Allah willing, we shall be victorious.

Official Mostarvian Government Statement:

To The Dreadlord of Phekny.

I suggest you keep a lid on the thoughts and actions of some of your citizens in Phekny.

I think it would be in the best interest of your nation if you took this advice and implemented it.

To Thracia, we will not support the claims to sovereignty of a nation that openly supports enemies of Mostarvia and it's unity and well being.

To the leaders of Edessia, may I suggest that if you wish for Edessia's relations with Mostarvia to remain friendly, that you retract your statement regarding Edessia supporting the Phekny colony's independence by any means forthwith.

Those who seek independence in the Phekny who you are claiming to support, are openly supporting the killers and thugs in the Srebnyian region of Mostarvia.

Let it be known that I, on behalf of my people and government, will not tolerate supporters of enemies of Mostarvia, nor the supporters of the supporters of the enemies of Mostarvia.

They will be considered as hostile to Mostarvia's well being, and will be taken to be an enemy.

You have been warned.

Retract your statement.

Now.

Phekny (Colony of DONRL) - February 14, 2005 03:34 PM (GMT)
**PNN** Arrests made, but is it enough?

Don Smith: Following yesterdays press conference, there was a violent outbreak from the group protesting Phekny's freedom. there was widespread accounts of looting, beatings and other atrocities, all in Phekny's own capital city. Fortunately the national guard was on the watch and managed to stop the outbreak before anyone was killed. Sixteen people were arrested thanks to the use of public video cameras, and many others given warnings. Both protest groups were told to go home or else there would be more arrests and other methods to subdue the crowd. It was found later that Hans Uther was spreading propaganda from a public loudspeaker which he jacked into. He was arrested, but had this to say in front of cameras:

A bedraggled man is seen being handcuffed and dragged to a police car.

"I know what I did is right! When I get out of prison, I will do it again! Phekny needs independence! And I will not retract my statement to Mostarvia because I still hope Srebnyian rebels obtain freedom. I--"

He is thrown forcefully into the back of the police car at this point, and the sound of his wrist breaking is heard clearly by all bystanders.

Don Smith: Dispicable. To the Mostarvian government the Dreadlord himself had this to say:

A regal and important looking man walks up to the podium.

"Good afternoon to the people of Phekny, and to anyone else watching. First and most importantly, I would like to formally apologize to President Lodovic of Mostarvia, on behalf of all of the people of Phekny. What Hans Uther said was treasonous and unforgivable. We have seen to it that he will be properly taken care of during his prison stay, so do not worry about his lies and propaganda. Now we get to the order of Phekny's independence. It is important for the people of Phekny to realize the position I am in. At this date I cannot, in good conscience give Phekny it's freedom. Right now Phekny needs the leadership and support that only a colony would be able to recieve. If I gave it it's independence, I would not be able to help and support the country in the same way I do now. It is on this note that I end all conersatoins or issues on this subject. Anyone breaking this will be promptly fined. THank you for your time, and agin to Mostarvia, we are all truly sorry, and will provide militry assistance if you need it. Good bye."

Don Smith: What an amazing person. That is all for the news, we now return you to the movie 1984. Enjoy

Phekny (Colony of DONRL) - February 15, 2005 01:14 AM (GMT)
**PNN**

Don Smith: After todays arrest of Hans Uther, an extensive report was done on his movements in the last year. It sems that Hans was a local agent of Srebnyia sent by Andoran Mohammed Tasnovic himself. It was found that Hans dealt with Andoran at least twice a month and was in the midst of smuggling high tech weaponry to help the Srebnyian Rebels. It appears that the police made a timely arrest. All people involved with his dealing were promptly arrested as well. Awards were given out today to the officers who managed to divert this deadly operatoin from happening. Phekny's advanced weaponry would have surely caused even more death if not for the bravery of these heroes.

-Mostarvia- - February 15, 2005 10:46 AM (GMT)
Official Mostarvian Government Statement:

I on behalf of my people and government accept the Dreadlord's apology.

I am glad to see that steps are being taken to address the issues raised in my previous communique.

Edessia - February 19, 2005 03:12 AM (GMT)
ok, so is phekny not going to become independant? does anyone want me to turn the proverbial tables around in phekny's favour? i could do it easily, maybe when more unrest happens, i could intervene.

Demoritus - March 27, 2005 11:49 AM (GMT)
We will support will of Phekny's citizens and will recognize it as independent if it's their wish. All this must be done very carefully and peacefully, without any kind of civil war.

Katja of Zahumlje - March 27, 2005 01:19 PM (GMT)
Excellencies: If Independance is the will of the People, and is accomplished peaceably Zahumlje is for it. We do not need another silly civil war in the region. Zahumlje accomplished the will of the People without civil war in two recent instances, the permission of Paganija to be a seperate governmental entity within Zahumlje and by ceding Raska to Srpska Kosovo so that the Serbian people of Raska could be re-united with their Serbian kin, the second situation could have been acrimonious, but it was not. In result Zahumlje doesn't have a Serbian insurgency, Srpska Kosovo is agained as a friendly neighbor and no civil war.
Paganija never ws a threat to order in Zahumlje, this was a concession to preferences within a specific region that crosses Zahumlje Province of Zahumlje and Jugska Dalmacija. It was done due to local preference and for an advantage in tourism marketing was as well a factor. In other words Zahumlje showed how these sorts of disputes can be handled in a mannner which pre-empts things like war. There was not even a street demonstration involved in either case. No one had the time to become bitter or angry. That is the course we recomend to DONRL, and we recomend it highly to other Nations faceing similar quandries, free and fair election and then if anyone is harmed by the outcome, it is possible to compensate them. We find it works well for us, and think it would be a good method elsewhere.
Imam Hodza Nasrudin
Foreign Minister Zahumlje

Demoritus - March 27, 2005 01:32 PM (GMT)
Imam Hodza Nasrudin, your solution of problems of these kind is very good, but they can't be realised in all cases. It'd be best if it can be realised in DONRL.
