Tsunami's a very unpredictable things and almost impossible to warn against, i suggest spending money into researching better technology that could do this or setting up better safety measures in case of Tsunami and educating villagers for the time now, maybe earth quake detectors or something, but that is again, with current technology nearly impossible to predict. I voted no.

Actually they arent impossible to warn against. The Pacific ocean has one already. I believe th Atlantic too. Im not sure how it would work, but I think they would be monitoring the ocean, and if an earthquake strikes in the ocean, a warning will go out of a possible tsunami. I would imagine they have the technology to monitor the ocean levels as well.
When a tsunami is moving out in the ocean, it isnt a wave. Boats and ships can barely notice it moving past/under them. Once the water starts getting shallower, the wave begins to form.
Byzantine Nations is for this.

yeah a tsunami travels the depth of the ocean and really shallows out in the middle of the ocean, but when the land under the water starts rising its, that whent he waves come, its because of this reason that Tsunami's are able to travel across an ocean at 800km/h and not lose much force or speed when they hit the shoreline. Also a quick lesson on the richter scale. it's not just a rating its mathematical.
a richtor scale of 1 is a the earthquake to the exponent of one.
a 1.5 is 10 fold.
a richtor scale of 2 is 100 fold the power of a richtor scale of 1 so the Tsunami in south east asia that was at a richtor scale of 8. is quite power ful but think of this, if it was an 9, it would be, 100 times stronger than the southeast asia Tsunami, there is no maximum or limit to the richtor scale, there could be a richtor 100000 earth quake, except for the reason that something so planet destroying liek that, cant happen, because the earth and it's tectonic plates are only capable of so much. Who knows maybe there was a richtor scale 11 earth quake, but that happened before wes tarted keeping records, and maybe one of that calibre or higher may happen within our life times, there is no scale limit to earthquakes, but yeah, if that Tsunami was rated i believe at 8.5, then if it was a half increment higher, and a 9.0, then it would have been a 10 times stronger then it would be now. Chew on that mentally for awhile.

The earthquake in SE Asia was a 9. It was that powerfull, they say the earth literally shook on its axis. It moved several islands by 20-30meters from where they once were.

The technology for detecting Cunami is actually pretty simple, first knwo where is there an earthquake, then there are bouys that monitor waves for height all over the ocean. The problem is that people are living in known dangerous places, usually due to poverty, and nearness to the few available jobs in the resorts. Such people cannot afford land further inland, or at higher elevations.
A warning was sent out by e-mail to the affected nations, and there was no way to spread the word to the people once the correct people recieved the e mail. A simple system of air raid sirens would have done the trick! 15 minutes warning to people to run inland would have saved most of the people, not their property for sure, but at least their lives.
The sad part is most of the dead were children and elderly. There have been many harrowing tales of people trying to save children or elders and failing.
Yes it did move the earth a lot, Sumatra was moved 200 metres out of place according to one source I read, and the day is shorter by some fractions of a second. Just good siesmic monitoring combined with timely warning to people in potentially affected areas would be enough to save many lives, the lives saved would go up with more bouys to monitor waves.
It is interesting to note that no wildlife perished in this disaster. The animals knew to get out of the danger zone, as did people who live in a natural way in the forests, most of them survived. They knew to follow the elephants and other big animals who fled. Perhaps right there is the BEST monitoring system of all?
Anyway I voted yes. The vote took place a while ago.
Which brings me to another subject. I realize that Everlasting Snow has had a wedding, but a number of issues have gone by without notice in this region. The Government of Zahumlje cannot at this time undertake the duties of delegate so Zahumlje is not running but we think it would be well if someone who has more time to analyze things couild be in this position. We commend Ancient Races for the fine work done in the past, but perhaps the time has come to see about a new election for this position?

295,000 last tally was at.
But remember, most of the dead will never be known. Tens of thousands were taken out to sea, when the waves receded.
