Reserach and development of this new age rifle has cost $10billion.

I present to you, the XM8(aka as M-8).
Full production of this rifle is in place.
Range 25% better then the M16, and 41% greater then the Steyr Aug.
Accurracy 32% improvement on the M16 and 29% better then the Steyr Aug.
As is common place with the M16 series of rifles, the M8 rifles have very little jamming problems in desert and dry conditions.

Unit cost: TBA. Orders must be a minimum of 8,000 units.

The ByzantineNations military has begun replacing M16s and Steyr Augs with the M8.
A total of 500,000 rifles will be produced by years end.

(ooc:I made the accuracy etc figures up)

We are overdue for a new rifle, however, why are you charging $80,000 for an $800 rifle? Are my numbers incorrect? Let us know. We are interested in 30,000 units.

Heh, I believe they are.
I was going to reduce it to somewhere around $1000, but didnt get around to it.

We will sell you 30,000 units @$800 per unit.

Anyone else interested, will have to negotiate a price until a our sales teams come up with a new price suitable to all parties involved.

We accept the price. And will begin the transfer of funds. We are phasing in the new rifles, so we will probably purchase more in the very near future. Thank you.

If the XM8 is anything like the M-16 you will need to make sure that your troops are trained and required to clean them every day. I would recommend that you only issue the XM8 to highly trained soldiers. Draftees, reservists, and militia troops should be issued something that requires less training and maintenance. Srpska Kosovo is going to stick with the AK series of weapons for now. During the Vietnam War there were instances of the NVA completely submerging them in rivers or mud to hide them. When they picked them up, even w/o cleaning them they operated properly.

Yes, they AK series is very durable. In Iraq, many US soldiers took up using captured Iraqi AK47s over thier own M16s, which had a high rate of jamming desert conditions, ie dust.

Our highly trained soldiers recieve much more advanced weapons then the M-8(XM8).

(in RL the XM8 is still a prototype I believe, but it will probably replace the M16 in the near future)

Testing has shown that the xm8 requires significantly less cleaning, and does not have the jamming problems. The biggest concern with the xm8 is the smaller caliber. The military(guy in the field) is clammoring for more "one shot stop" power.

We feel it isnt that much of an issue, as accuracy has been improved on previous M series rifles, which in reality, is what is most important. What good is a gun if it isnt accurate?

However, we can make changes to suit your needs, and the cost will be added on to each unit. Costs will be kept to an absolute minimum. If you agree, we will make the necessary adjustments to the next shipment, and take back the units already recieved to make the changes. (You will not have to pay to have the changes made to the units you already have recieved.)

That would be fantastic. We weren't aware this was possible. We love the American's new weapon, however we would prefer a larger round. We have tested 6.8mm and 7.62mm and found we prefer 6.8mm. If you could make that change, we definitely be willing to compensate you for the extra trouble.

Byzantian - December 15, 2004 11:04 AM (GMT)
Yes, it is possible with todays technology and expertise, we have made great advancements.
There is no need to compensate us, as it is no trouble at all. A new batch of rifles, with your requested round, 6.8mm, will be ready within 3-4weeks and will be shipped immediately.

(ooc: Im not too familiar with guns and modifications too them, so 3-4 weeks sounds realistic. If it isnt lol, let me know for future refrence)

ooc: you're just changing the barrel and thingy where magazine goes into. 3-4 weeks for 2 parts is realistic enough.
