Title: Vulkan u Balkanu
Description: 12:00 local time
Katja of Zahumlje - October 1, 2004 07:18 PM (GMT)
Excellencies: This broadcast is to inform all of you that the volcano located in the vicinity of Trebinje just 'blew'. Thanks to the hard work of the Domobrana, and the rest of R.A.Z. the people who would have been endangered are safely out of the area. The madatory evacuation proceded with smoothness and speed. An ash plume is headed West and Southwest, so please be forewarned. All planes have been grounded in Zahumlje to avoid air disasters due to the ash.
Best Wishes

ooc: no it wasn't terrible at all, actually it was kind of therapuetic.(you didn't expect me to waste a perfectly good volcano did you?xixixixixixixixixi!)
ic: ***ZNN***The reports from Annoyastan of widespread panic are quite unfounded. There was a large fall of ash, creating grayness, there was some flow of lava, however, the evacuation proceded ahead of time in an orderly fashion. In the next couple of days the people will be able to return in an orderly fashion to their homes. Soldiers from Kraljeva Armija Zahumlje, Royal Army of Zahumlje (K.A.Z. or R.A.Z. depending on your linguistic preference) and the Domobrana, the Zahumljani equivalent of a Territorial Force or National Guard, remained behind to clear up debris, and guard people's property. Because every Zahumljani town and city has block committes, or is a zadruga, it's very easy to arrange things like orderly evacuations. We expect that normal government functioning will return within the next week.

ZYSL Convention Procedes Calmly. Marko Markovic and Alena Turkovic vie for Prime Ministerial Candidacy. Alena Turkovic is from the Socialist Agricultural Enterprise #1 as is Marko Markovic, fans of comptetitive scything will remember him as a repeat winner of scything competitions in Zahumlje.
How Much Authoritarianism Workshop was well attended. There was a vote for Chair Bozidar Zidaric to move for the expulsion of New Solukia from BISL due to the situation there. 'That kind of authoritarianism is not Socialism, and they should be expelled, we direct Bozidar Zidaric to call for an expulsion vote.' This was unprecidented, no member nation has ever been expelled from BISL in the past. Bozidar Zidaric stated that he'd comply with the wishes of ZYSL membership.
Los Mascados spoke about their trip north. Tomorrow ZYSL members who are physically fit to do it will go south with the Domobrana as volunteers to help with debris and ash removal. This will be about 1000 young people. Tatijana Zivkovic and Lilijana Turkovic donated ash masks for the young people to use. Marko Markovic picked a bunch of his buddies from Socialist Agricultural Enterprise #1 to help.
One group of people absolutely refused to evacuate. These were the vaqueros at the Royal Toro Bravo Sanctuary and National Park, located not far from Kupres. 'Entiendes toros bravos su opasan, not a good idea to leave the place unattended!.' stated Head Vaquero Lutfi Huerta. He reported that they herded los reses bravos into a place with good access to water and in a valley, where hopefully ashfall would be less. 'Obviously you aren't going to get an ash mask on the muzzle of any res bravo!' Reports are that these beautiful animals are fine.
Farmer Svetozar Grbavac said, 'Well the ash-fall is going to be wonderful for future grape production, in two to three years look for some MARVELOUS wines from Zahumlje, and the other farmers are going to benefit. Volcanic soil is full of good minerals. This is a temporary inconvenience with future good results. Like we say here, ash makes the grass grow!'
Soldiers seemed to be having a lot of fun, they didn't mind the extra hours, 'Hell we're gettin paid, we don't gotta kill nobody 'less they git stupid and try to loot on the way back home, hope they don't cuz then we gotta shoot 'em.' Pvt. Emir Arapic K.A.Z.
Masakr, noted Zahumljani Dethmetalists found inspiration in the volcano and are working on a new album inspired by the event.

Fortunately no people were harmed. Katja, i offer you and your people any services or help. I hear that due to a corporate collapse that we have a dangerous overload of potatoes and potato related products. the Slavposki RAF (Royal Aero Force) will be able to deliver it to Zahumlje or a neighbouring nation and then ship it in because no one knows what to do with it (our law prevents food being sold under corporate collapse)
Katja of Zahumlje - October 2, 2004 05:03 PM (GMT)
Excellency: The people of Zahumlje will gratefully accept these potatoes as the potatoe harvest was smaller than usual this year and the harvest this year was messed up by the volcanic eruption. Zahumljani eat a hell of a lot of potatoes! is it possible to get some sunflower oil to fry them in? Hvala najlipsa from the People of Zahumlje
Katarina of Zahumlje
ooc: I wrote this on an empty stomach hehe!
The Kingdom of Slavpo - October 3, 2004 03:58 AM (GMT)
Katja, shipments have begun flying out of Slavpo.
Poljaslavonija (a region of Slavpo) supplies virtually the whole country with more than enough sustinance. Poljaslavonija also has wide open rolling fields of sunflowers, so the oil of the flowers will be thusly made available to Zahumlje after the geological disater which has befallen the great nation.
molim lijepo! ni za sto, Carica Katja!

Katja of Zahumlje - October 4, 2004 12:41 AM (GMT)
Excellencies: First of all thank you Slavpo for all the potatoes and the sunflower oil. When you are cold and tired nothing beats a nice plate full of fried potatoes! :)
except possibly a shot of rakija, but that is not a problem in Zahumlje.
On another note the volcano is likely to blow again in a short time. Magma movement has been detected. Planes flying over the small crater have detected gasses. The good news is all the mines in the former minefield blew up too! So one free mine clearance at least! xixixixixix!
The citizens who have been moved out of the region of potential ash fall are in Jace mostly, the small villages have all been evaacuated and we've posted troops on the borders and closed our southern borders mostly because of safety concerns.
It feels funny to have to take measures for a situation of National Collapse, in a sovereign and otherwise healthy Nation, but it would be worse to risk the losss of the lives of countless citizens.

Once the Volcanic Episode has passed, you and your court are cordially invited on my Royal Yacht for celebratory food and drink! The yacht can sail down through the Black sea and up through the Adriatic to Dalmatian Zahumlje. If you decide so come aboard you will treated like a Queen tee-hee
Everyone else is also welcome upon my yacht! Come on, come all!
Yugoslovenia - October 4, 2004 06:58 PM (GMT)
Yugoslovenia would like to offer any aid necessary to the government of Zahumlje in this volcanic situation. Anything at all, please ask!
Byzantinople - October 4, 2004 07:43 PM (GMT)
What? A volcano erupted?! It's the end of the world!!!!! *runs away screaming*
Katja of Zahumlje - October 5, 2004 03:33 AM (GMT)
***ZNN***Jos Jedan Erupcija! The volcano blew again today. Mostly vapor and ash. This ash mostly landed in the Adriatic, but some fell on towns in Jugska Dalmacija. It was only a light gray dusting, not the disaster feared. Of course the fact of pitched roofs beign the most common was a help. Kupres, a town where many roofs are of an old sort of wood shingles did not fare as well. K.A.Z had to go put out some fires. When the volcano refugees return, then there will need to be some rebuilding. Socialist Agricultural Enterprise #1did not fare too badly, because they have temporary buildings which have metal roofs fire was not an issue, however, the roofs have no pitch to them. A few roofs collapsed and some buildings will need replacement there. Her Majesty's Government is working on a programme to make sure people's roofs are replaced.
On a lighter note, Artun Zvonic's show Ponocni is havign a Name the Volcano contest. It's a new mountain, and there fore un named. A lot of women called in said it should be called 'Goran Vrh'!
Morale remains high among the volcano refugees.
Some of the soldiers stationed near the volcano decided to have a 'magmacue', a magma fueled barbecue. Great fun they said.

Zahumlje Royal Geologic Institute Announces 'Volcano Has Chilled Out'
The volcano has calmed greatly since the beginning; of the recent seris of eruptions.
Her Majesty's Government has permitted the return of able bodied Zahumljani males between the ages of 18-45, they will help the Domobrana in the clean up effort. There has been some ash damage, and if after a week the volcano does not erupt again, and the quakes stop, the return of women, children and elderly will be permitted as well as the return of domesticated animals which were also evacuated.
The populace of Jugska Dalmacija, and Zahumlje proper have been breathing a big collective sigh of relief.[COLOR=red]
