The latest UN-resolution, 'No Marriage Under Age of 15', is not worth our region's support (IMHO). It is poorly written and not enforcable!
despite the issue's shortcomings we vote FOR the banning of underage marriage
even if this were a well written resolution, it is not enforceable throughout the world. I personally think no one should be married before age 15, male or female, however the absolute happiest couple I knew were a man and a woman from Bangladesh, the husband was 15 and the wife 13 a the time of their arranged marriage. There are cultural factors in what age is thse age for marriage, and it differs from country to country. Better to leave well enough alone in that department. A burn wife beaters resolution now there's one I could get behind!
