Title: Annual Pan-Balkan Games Proposal
Description: hey we got soccer, why not the olympics?
Perussia - May 20, 2004 10:42 PM (GMT)
PROPOSAL
Perussia has noticed a lack in the diversity of entertainment options in the region in the sports catagory and has decided to start an initiative for the Annual Pan-Balkan Games. You know, something like the olypics. There would be a diverse selection of track events as well as team sports and maybe some swimming. The games would be held every year (starting this June) starting on the 2nd Sunday and lasting for two weeks.
So, if you like it just say so and I'll try to work something out with Thracia or something!
ooc: good news peoples! i passed algebra 1 and am exempt from the finals, yay for me!!! oh and my english teacher changed my grade because i was the only one who wasn't exempt in the entire class and didn't want to make a test for one person!!!double yay for me!!!!!!!
Thracia - May 21, 2004 03:30 AM (GMT)
ooc: Congratulations for passing algebra 1, and for becoming exempt from the finals in English!
ic:
We like the idea of organizing olympic-like Pan-Balkan Games, but that would be a huge commitment on Perussia's part. Is Perussia ready for that? Thracia could help, but could not be a co-organizer.
These games, if they do become a reality, will be Perussia's "baby".
Tsar Mikhail Romanov I - May 21, 2004 08:02 AM (GMT)
The Tsar, (a great hockey fan), is very interested in forming a Russian national team for all sports. Perhaps we can have a hockey tourney within the Olympics? Everybody loves Russian hockey.
Annoyastan - May 21, 2004 10:30 AM (GMT)
Annoyastan would certainly participate in the Games.

Cypriot Socialist Federation - May 21, 2004 01:37 PM (GMT)
Cyprus as well! We will form up Greco-turkish sports teams immediately!
Srpska Kosovo - May 21, 2004 03:04 PM (GMT)
Srpska Kosovo will participate. President Karonovic is an avid golfer and is working with a committee of business leaders to plan and host a golf tournament some time soon. (OOC: My idea would be to have nations submit their golfer's names and then I would randomly assign each to a real life golfer and use the scores from a real event for our tournament. What do you think?)
Daimyo Oda Nobunaga - May 21, 2004 06:13 PM (GMT)
This is great idea.I fuuly support it.
Pope Christian VI - May 21, 2004 07:02 PM (GMT)
Pope Christian VI loves tennis! The Vatican would be greatly honoured if it could create a team as well.
Perussia - May 22, 2004 12:35 AM (GMT)
*sigh*I know I could be responsible for most of it but I would need help narrowing down the events list and all and keeping up with a few of them (because as things look now, there is alot of support for this and alot of suggestions). Also, I noticed in my original post I put the date as the second sunday in June, but I remembered I'll be away then so It would be pushed back until until the third sunday. Is this inconvenient for anyone?
New Achaea - May 23, 2004 02:59 AM (GMT)
The idea sounds great, but we've heard ideas for swimming, track, swimming, and ice hockey events. All good sports, but would we feasibly facilitate all these in one event? Are these going to be summer games or winter games? Or are we going to tread a new path and attempt to have both (perhaps in various regions of the Balkans)?
If there is any need, New Achaea will put in its support for the games ( we can certainly host events for more summertime games, being on the very temperate Mediterranean coast.) Just let us know what you would have us do, Perussia.
Katja of Zahumlje - May 23, 2004 04:47 PM (GMT)
Excellencies: Zahumlje has a great tradition in Track, Wrestling Equestrian and Skiing events. There also are some truely great Zahumljani gymnasts and ice skaters. Of course Zahumljani excell in Karate and have a great team. Zahumlje is weak in team sports. There is a local Slavic variant of Hurling, which is played in Zahumlje. At least it LOOKS like hurling, same curvy stick, same ball traditionally made out of rags. Little boys play it around Easter time in certain districts. We don't know much more about it except it seems to be the only totally native and traditional team sport and it is only played by childrent.
Best Wishes

Ah, in Western Europe i am currently running a summer games, and in the future a winter games. I could i guess help you guys with this in the period between the two or I have always debated the idea of having a multi-regional games (which would of course include, The Balkans, Western Europe and of course South America)
Hrvatska dD (Showtime Master) - September 27, 2004 12:34 AM (GMT)
