Title: UN Resolutions
Description: We note with distress...
Katja of Zahumlje - March 8, 2004 03:44 PM (GMT)
The Socialist Monarchy Notes With Distress that two U.N. Resolutions have come to vote without the U.N. Delegate asking the opinions or votes of other U.N. Members in the Region. We hope now that Ancient Races is settled in, this regretable situation will be remedied.
Best Wishes

Please note that my previous vote "for" pertained to an issue about a week ago, not the current "choice" resolution.
Normally I support almost any motion that enhances human rights.
However in the case of the current "freedom of choice" resolution, I find it to be a lot of pretentious blather, and I cannot bring myself to vote in favor of it. In fact, I vote against it.

I also have voted against the current resolution. It seems very very vague and wordy while not seemingly doing anything actually useful. We would also like to urge the regional delegate to please vote on this issue as it seems the delegate has yet to. Voting ends Friday the 26th of March.
Ancient Races - March 24, 2004 12:39 PM (GMT)
The Emperor of The Historical Empire of Ancient Races also votes AGAINST the current resolution.
Vodkaland - March 26, 2004 04:11 PM (GMT)
We have voted AGAINST the resolution in the UN ( the deadline is today), as the voting stood at 2-4, taking into account Annoyastan's post. Vodkaland's own vote was originally for, which would have left the voting at a tie, but we have re-considered, and a clear majority has been established.

Thank you Vodkaland for your vote against. I hope this very vague resolution can be defeated. I ask for all the other members who are part of the UN to take the time to vote on this resolution.
Csabaland - March 27, 2004 12:48 PM (GMT)
Luckily the proposal has passed and implemented in all UN nations, so our goals were archieved.
The thing with the UN is that once a proposal gets approved by the delegates and goes in front of the UN for general vote, it will pass 100%. It seems like a trend in NationStates to vote FOR whatever resolution there is, without actually reading the text. To tell you the truth I don't read the text either, I only check what it's effects will be and vote accordingly.
Once Csabaland sent a proposal to the UN, and while it needed 140 approvals from regional delegates, it only received about 100. It was a good proposal, and after that we realized the UN is a joke and should not be taken seriously.

The Queen of Everlasting snow votes FOR the current Un resolution on educational committee.
Srpska Kosovo - April 5, 2004 11:01 PM (GMT)
The UN is a collection of blathering, politically correct imbeciles (Balkan nations excluded, of course). We will not now, nor will we ever join an organziation that so blatantly tramples upon the rights of sovereign nations. We will not abide by UN resolutions. We believe that sovereign nations should be led by their own elected officials.
farhad - April 6, 2004 01:12 PM (GMT)
While our nation agrees with the basis that this resolution is trying to acheive, we do not believe it is the United Nations right to come and try and implement such widesweeping changes to member nations school systems. The cost of this security system is staggering for what I see as most smaller nations. Our nation and many others have never had a problem with security at our schools. While our school meals are not world class cuisines, they are adequate and defintely provide children with the nutriution they need. Therefore this nation votes against the proposed resolution.
We hope the UN would stop coming up with such useless resolutions. If they continue to do so, I might ask my nation to vote to see if they also feel this way and then to withdraw from the United Nations. As some of the others have suggested, the UN isn't really that rational or real or effective or ...
Annoyastan - April 6, 2004 10:01 PM (GMT)
Annoyastan votes for the Education Committee resolution. Though it may be flawed in some aspects, and is poorly written, we believe that a United Nations agency focusing on education will be a worthwhile endeavor, benefiting all.
