Title: Important Conference Information
Leidestrad - December 4, 2003 03:45 PM (GMT)
Delegations,
As per the closing of the Second Leidestrad Peace Summit, we advise all attending delegations to present their final statements in this forum.
However, if the delegations feel that such topics must be furtherly discussed, they can be followed in the Interegional forum in the Balkanic Union Assambley.
This forum will be closed as of Saturday morning, and all of the delegation`s participations will be saved as read-only documents.
We thank wholeheartedly the participation of evryone, in making this one more step towards the developement in our region.
Annoyastan - December 4, 2003 09:20 PM (GMT)
Closing Statement - People's Republic of Annoyastan
The Government of Annoyastan came to this second Leidestrad Peace Summit optimistic that solid steps might be taken towards the elimination of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction. However it is now quite apparent that the governments of the Balkans have very differing views on this subject, and that negotiations towards a meaningful accord in this regard is not possible.
We hope - as do all nations of the Balkans - that those nations who currently possess these terrible weapons will always be governed by those wise enough to know that these weapons must never be used.
Annoyastan realizes, though, that governmental changes and upheavals are the norm, rather than the exception.
And that new governments often have very different politics, tolerances, and agendas than the governments that preceded them.
And thus we would prefer to rely on something more substantial than mere “hope” in a forgiving future.
We will continue to be involved in all those building projects that have been discussed here at the conference. The pan-Balkan projects are a positive outcome of this conference. We hope that through these projects we may build towards a future of true peace, trust between nations, and mutual security.
However we consider that the real mission of the Peace Summit has not been achieved, and for that we all must bear some responsibility.
PO Craven
Prime Minister
Montfortslavia - December 5, 2003 04:08 AM (GMT)
Closing Statements by the Delegation of Montfortslavia
Nations of The Balkans,
As we come to the colsing of yet another chapter in our long history, we find ourselves forced to look back and examin our actions, and weigh them against the critical eyes of history.
Perhaps to many, this Summit did not produce the results expected. Perhaps to many this was at all a waste of time and resources. But let us look back at all that happened during the conference, not only on the island of Leidestrad but on all the region. Terrorist organizations were detained, we sent out a clear message that altough we are peace-lovign nations, we are not to be harrased or menaced with. We demonstrated the true Balkan resolve and condemned criminal for their crimes against humanity.
Perhaps we did not come to the conclusions that we all had expected, but time restraints have and allways will be the limitations. But yet, that does not spell failure, this Summit in no way was a failure. We have set the groundwork for bigger, better Balkan relations. We might have not completed the work here, such as the tree we plant at roadside, but we will continue to work on the proposals that were presented here, and someday with time, that tree will grow and we will be able to reap its benefits.
Dear nations, we have not failed today. We have given one more step in a long journey that must be carried out together. Let the comments and proposals of every delegate here present be the magnifying glass that shines objectivity and commitment to our Balkan policies.
The Honorable Sovereign Republic of Montfortslavia, which I have been blessed to direct trough hard and good times, stands today not ashamed of what was achieved here at Leidestrad. We stand pround of every consensus, of every small battle that diplomacy can win, of every terrorist and criminal which is detained and of every life that is saved and benefited by our actions here today.
Now, we shall depart back to our nations, and decide the fate of our nations in the near and far future. Dear national leaders, lets not forget the lessons of Leidestrad that were tought trough the duration of this two weeks. Let us all take with us the Leidestrad commitments and make this a better, safer region.
Your friend,
Adrian R Montfort
Elected Prime Minister of The Honorable Sovereign Republic of Montfortslavia
New Commonwealth - December 7, 2003 01:45 AM (GMT)
To All Honorable Delegations of the Leidestrad Peace Summit:
I will keep my speech brief and to the point my friends. First of all, we would like to thank Leidestrad for organizing this event and for the great hospitality it has shown to all of the delegates. Secondly, we would like to thank all of the Balkan leaders who attended this summit. In the future, may our discussions and negotiations be as fruitful and productive as they were here.
Our beloved region, our homeland, has been a bastion of democracy and a beacon of freedom throughout the world. In our mother countries, we have nurtured and sustained human rights and the noble principles of liberty and dignity. However, a dark time has emerged and our very way of life is threatened.
In recent weeks, the Dominion Reborn and the Commonality has decided to pursue a course of hostile and belligerent actions against the New Commonwealth, Byzanthine, NDST, Thracia, Annoyastan, Slavic Superiority, and Ancient Races. They are intent until every vestige of our society and civilization are destroyed and cowed under their chains of oppression and tyranny.
Several nations, most notably Annoyastan, has raised some issues about the seemingly reckless militarization and saber-rattling. It has expressed its discomfort over the revelation that nuclear programs have been established in secret by some countries. Indeed, we agree with Annoyastan that we live in dangerous and perilous times. However, we must meet our adversaries with the same determination that they have met with us.
Now is NOT the time to cower in the face of fear. We must show to the world that the Balkans has stood strong for centuries and will continue to do so. The New Commonwealth is not a war-mongerer, but we are ready to defend ourselves and this region to the very last man if need be. With our rallying call, I urge you my friends to unite in solidarity and show those that would destroy us that we will not go silently into the night.
Thank you my friends.

The Bulgarite - December 7, 2003 07:28 PM (GMT)
Nations of The Balkans,
My Friends
At the end of the Second Leidestrad Peace Summit there are a few things I would like to say.
First, a lot of You may think that nothing was achieved at this conference, that we just wasted our time doing this, and You may be right. However, if You have not yet realised this, I am sure You will one day, that at this Summit we have made a step, a small one, yes, but a step nevertheless towards true cooperation in our region. Most of you might be dissappointed by the fact that we achieved very little but you must understand that we will need time, if we want to create something truly significant.
The one issue in wich we really did not achieve anything, was the one concerning the Weapons of Mass Destruction. The reason was, that there are too many nations, with too different views to expect a result with so little done in the fields of discusions and diplomacy.
This is why, at the end of the Second Leidestrad Peace Summit, I would like to make one last proposal. I would like to ask all national leaders, to consider the possibility of holding a conference or a siries of conferences, during which we will sit and find a sollution to our current number one internal problem.
Hope we will see each other here again, as I hope this will not be the last Leidestrad Peace Summit.
I. Overlord,
President of The Free Democratic Republic of The Bulgarite
Thracia - December 7, 2003 08:07 PM (GMT)
Leaders of The Balkans,
First, let me say that the Thracian delegation is grateful to Leidestradians for the warm hospitality they showed us.
This is the prefect place to hold such meetings, and we propose that the Leidestrad summits become a regular occurence.
Second, we would like to point out the progress we made in the discussion and planning of pan-Balkan projects. The super-train railway, whose details we worked out here, is already under construction. The Balkanska Magistrala highway is no longer an abstract suggesion but a concrete project whose importance we all have recognized. And finally we have a well-defined plan for the oil pipeline, which we can begin building as soon as we find a nation to replace the European Soviets.
Third, it is true that we have failed to reach an agreement on nuclear weapons, but at least we now have clearer idea about the obstacles that keep us from reaching an agreement on this issue.
Fourth, many nations have managed to coordinate their efforts against terrorism originating from the Commonality and the Dominion Reborn, and as a result, the regional Security Initiative was born.
Overall, therefore, this summit was productive and very useful. Now we have to follow up on what we have achieved here, and bring the projects to their conclusion.
Thank you again, Leidestrad, and thank you, Balkan leaders, for your participation.
Demosthenes Yagcioglu,
President of the Free Trinational Republic of Thracia.
byzanthine - December 8, 2003 09:29 PM (GMT)
Good Evening. Leaders, ladies, gentlemen and to all the inhabitants of The Balkans :
I want to personally thank the Leidestrad goverment for their hospitality and initiative in the creation of this summit.
As my homologue from The Free Trinational Republic of Thracia, President Demosthenes Yagcioglu early stated, this summit has given to the balkans very good results, that will bring prosperity and union to our region, such as The TransBalkanic SuperTrain Railway, The Balkanska Magistrala highway and the planification of the oil-pipeline.
It is an unfortunated issue that, during this summit, certain elements that want to cause havoc among us conspirated and attempted to attacked us in this vey same place. Fortunelly, a joint action prevented all this from happening. The menace of threats such like this has impulsed the creation of the RSI, and others project related to security and defense, such as the newly created rapid-reaction forces of my nation, the Byzanthine Red Army. Still, it is important to destacate our search for peace and the use of war as the last tool for defense of the ideals of this region : Peace and Justice.
I personally believe that this summit has reached its ultimate goal : Fortifying the bonds that unit our nations as members of The Balkan´s region.
The future is ahead. Lets make our way to a better, saffer and stronger Balkans. Thank You. God bless you.
King-Emperor Franciscus Reginaldus
