BREAKING NEWS: Dominion Assassin Apprehended

A Dominion assassin was seized today by NDF security personnel and Leidestrad police at the on-going Leidestrad Peace Summit after receiving intelligence of an impending assassination attempt on the delegates. A team of NDF counter-terror units moved in and apprehended 27 year old Gavinalo Kestral as he was attempting to leave the summit grounds. Kestral is a member of the Dominion paramilitary force, the Iron Fist, and had fought as a Neo-Praetorian Guard under Nalid Killian's rule. He was placed in the custody of the Leidestrad government, pending his extradition to the New Commonwealth.

Upon his arrest, Kestral was carrying a silenced 9mm semi-automatic Browning pistol as well as a remote detonator linked to a timed chemical gas bomb. Authorities quickly located the chemical bomb, which was filled with Sarin nerve gas. The bomb has been placed in the central air recycling duct. The timer was set to release the gas in two hours, after Kestral had boarded a plane and left the country. The police surmised that Kestral had disguised himself as a maintenance worker to gain access to the ventilation system, where the gas was supposed to be released.

NDF hazardous materials teams are currently dismantling the gas bomb, as the Sarin gas is being transported away from the summit site for immediate disposal. The chairman of the summit is urging all delegates to remain at the convention site and to not be alarmed. The conference is still set to continue on schedule, amidst dramatically increased security. Officials are currently investigating how Kestral easily gained access to the supposedly secure meeting site.

Byzanthine should be receiving the thanks of all nations present at the summit. It was Byzanthine who supplied the necessary intelligence to the New Commonwealth and Leidestrad concerning the immenient assassination attempt. Without their crucial intervention, the Balkans might be mourning the deaths of hundreds of its diplomats and heads of states.

Consequently, Kestral has been located to a secure detention facility inside the Commonwealth, where he is being questioned. We assure the international community that his rights as a prisoner of war are being seld sacrosanct and that no physical torture is being administered.

NDF and Leidestrad police forces have raided Gavarinalo Kestral's apartment within the Leidestrad and have seized countless amounts of weaponry, telecommunications equipment, and eavesdropping devices. Located inside his small one bedroom apartment, authorities seized 52 Kalashnikov AK-47 Assault Rifles, 15 sawed off shotguns and assorted handguns, and 4 long-range sniper rifles. In addition 100 pounds of C4 plastic explosive was also located, as well as an assortment of timers and remote detonators.

His computer was also searched, revealing detailed schematics and blueprints to the summit compound and its ventilation systems. Also located were the times of work shifts of summit workers. Long range coding and decoding machines were found, as well as remote listening devices. Officials believe that Kestral was the leader of a Dominion terrorist cell within Leidestrad and that he was responsible for supplying members of his cell with equipment.

We would like to express our gratitude towards the New Commonwealth, Leidestrad and Byzanthine for their excellent work in protecting the participants in the peace summit.

However we will consider sending a team of National Security operatives to ensure the protection of our delegates and provide any help they can to the local police forces. Of course, if Leidestrad allowes us to do so.

Dear National Leaders, friends and visitors,

The Leidestrad is more than thankful to the swift cooperation of all parties involved in averting such disaster.
Given the grave security concerns, the government has decided that the Summit will end this thursday, for the safety of all delegations.

We ask all participating nations in the forums, to establish the final statements for their topics for the memoirs of the Summit.

As for safety reasons, all delegations are welcome to bring their own security besides our national guard to provide safty for all delegations.
