I'm probably going to purchase Ultimate Unwrap3D in a little while, so then I'll start skinning my models. Here's my current project. I have to work on the shape of the body, but I've got the general outline down.

Try 3dsmax. It's only ~$3000
Or maybe Cinema 4d. It's only ~$1500
Or go a lil bit higher and get Maya. It's only ~$7000
OH! Get Houdini ~$70,000
Or go UBER cheap like me and get Bryce ~$80
