Title: Wei Cell
Description: darnit!
Melfina - July 8, 2003 08:11 AM (GMT)
Meh, the drawing piece (usually behind the laminated paper) is badly creased now. It doesn't look like a way I can replace it, either. Man... :Cries: it's useless. I know I can't sell it off like this when the time comes... :( .......... oh well.
So, what do you guys do to keep your cels in perfect condition? This is my first cel so I am happy about it. I'm going to sell it sooner or later. Same price, though unfortunately. I hope you all can fork it over if you want it (which will be soon).
TauntingDestiny - July 8, 2003 08:28 AM (GMT)
 so sorry to hear that.
The way I keep my cels perfect is by putting them in cels books. Pretty soon I'm gonna frame my 10 favorites. Those are the cels That I will never sell.
Hope this helps.

Cel books? I don't have many cels, though. The Wei is my first one. It doesn't look like any of the sheet protectors can fit. The only way I can keep the cel intact is putting it through the binder cover (with the plastic sheet on the front). I wished I never bought this in the first place... it's so messed up now. :cries:

It's okay if the sketch is creased... that won't decrease the value much. As long as the sketch IS there... ^_^
But the cel itself, that's okay, right? Is it in a cel bag?
TD is right. If you want to keep your cel in good condition you need a cel book. Itoya brand is best. They are roughly $20 a piece, from the ones I've bought. Do a search in Yahoo for "Noriko Dark Harbor" and her site should come up. I've bought 3 from her in the past. Two for normal sized cels and one for oversized.
Always store your cel flat, away from sunlight or moisture, else the black trace lines will fade. :(
Oh! Also... ^_^ It won't be a problem if the cel is in a cel bag, but if it's not, do NOT put the sketch behind it. If the paint from the back of the cel and the sketch come in contact they may get stuck together, which would decrease its value a lot.

Here is the cel. You can see the creases here.
I don't think I can get the book online. I'm actually having thoughts on selling the picture/sketch. I'm going to lower the price on it.

I wouldn't sell that cel. I see nothing major wrong with it. Nuriko from Dark harbor lives around my work. Her retail store is closed but she still meets me accasionally to cell me Ranma cels.
If you need a cel book I'll meet her later this week and buy you the one you need then just pay me back later.

No!!! You don't have to!! It's okay. You don't have to buy the book for me.
Please don't.

That cel is awesome! ^_^ There's nothing wrong with it. One of my "special cels" has a completely tattered sketch toward the top. The image is intact, so please don't worry. :) That is what matters.
I would say, if you're not going to get a cel book, put it under your bed between some acid free cardboard. Perhaps in your closet would be best, though, so it can be flat. Just make sure it's plenty dark. :)
I wonder if you got the cel from Curt (Asylum-Anime), Heather (Usagi's House) or... mmm... his name is misplaced, though on the tip of my tongue (Nichibeianime).
I like it. :D

Thanks, Mikage-San! I got the cel from the Anime Expo on Sunday. Seventy-Five smelly big (dollars) ones! Expensive, I'd say. Something drew me to buy that cel. I have no idea why. I like Wei, but I guess it forced me to buy that pic. LOL....
Edit: I'll find a way to keep it somewhere safe then I guess. There's plenty of sun in my room so that I means I can't hang it up in a frame. But okay! I'll put it under my bed or something.

An excellent idea and no worries I won't buy the
cel book for you than.
And congrats on your first cel!!!!

You shouldn't really worry about that cel, it looks fine. Take it form the experts (Mikage and TD), if they say it looks fine then it probably is!!!!
Its a really nice cel, you shouldn't get rid of it....
Melfina - July 9, 2003 04:27 AM (GMT)
Thanks guys!! I'll keep it then.

Melfina, your cel looks great! Don't worry about it. Trust me. I've received cels with badly damaged sketches. That's nothing! And congrats on your first cel. Uh oh! The addiction has begun.

duotrouble is right,
It's like that old potatoe chip commercial add says "You can't stop at just one"

I've never heard of cel collecting being compared to potato chips. That's a good one!

keep the Cel, Mel. And if you don't want it, we can put it up on sale. But the cel is rather beautiful, yes? I am glad you enjoyed the Anime Exposition. Hopefully I can tag along with you next year? J/K. I guess living in Sacramento, CA makes it hard for both of us since it takes six long hours from Sacramento to L.A. But it'll be the same, anyway.
Keep the cel, Mel. It'll be worth a lot in the future.
