Title: The Ending...
Description: Like or Dislike?

Mikage-san - May 12, 2003 06:28 PM (GMT)
The bulk of the people I talk to about this hate the ending because it was so rushed, unlike the manga.

I didn't like what happened in the end, considering Aki was NOT okay like I had thought he would have been, but I had no problem with the way it was portrayed. I thought everything was emotionally well-done and very captivating.

What about you guys? What do you think? What do you like and dislike about the ending?

Aki - May 12, 2003 07:57 PM (GMT)
It was very very veeeeery sad. x.x; I thought it was great, because it actually takes you in, and then you feel sad too, where as some series you're all "okay that happened. o.o" I was bawling at the end of AnC. ;-; The ending itself wasn't rushed, it was really the episodes before that since they shortened the series that made it seem closer. But the end differs slightly in anime and manga scene-wise.

And plus, the good people all get something bad happen to them. >.<; My favorite characters, anyway always wind up screwed over in some way. Not Wei though, Wei actually got off pretty lucky.. XD; I only wish they showed his scar in the animated version. Manga-wise you can see it real fast. <3

But I sat there after it ended just like "....Wow."

TauntingDestiny - May 12, 2003 10:20 PM (GMT)
The ending did seem very rushed to me which is
a change because most anime seems to be drug
out in my opinion.

I found it refreshing. Not to mention I love seeing
an end to a series that leaves a few ?n's. If you find
yourself think about it hours or days after and having to
rewatch just make sure you took everything in then
to me the series is great.

TD

Mikage-san - May 12, 2003 10:22 PM (GMT)
I agree, TD! AnC still runs through my mind to this day, and it's been over a year. ^_^

And Aki, I was bawling, too... ;_;.

Yuhi - May 30, 2003 12:01 AM (GMT)
I loved the ending. It's very sad but happy at the end. Aki was brave enough to sacrifice himself to save Ceres and Aya. It's sad that he had to die, though.

I was happy that Toya returned. And I loved the way he came back, too. I loved the way he looked with those angel wings. I thought he looked really pretty!
Hey, he gave Wei's eye back! That was sweet of him!!
I really enjoyed watching the scene of how he was born. Learning of his past of how he was born was very interesting as well. I was glad to learn about him since he was so mysterious.

At first I thought Aya died for good, but after Toya gave her the mana she came back to life. I was relieved.

I really liked the ending, a lot. Heck, this is one of my most favorite volumes now.

BTW, I have major problems in "Mikagi reborn" scene. When Alec said "What's going on?!" And one of the men was running towards the screen the damn dvd completely frozed! I couldn't do anything with my PS2 (I use it to watch dvds) controller so I had to skip that scene to the scene with Mikagi in it (when Aya was stabbed). Can someone please tell me what happened to that scene after Alec said "What's going on?!" I know I'll never be able to see that scene anymore. The disc is in perfect condition. The final scene went smoothly. I have no clue why that one scene in "Mikagi Reborn" was so screwed up.

Aki - May 30, 2003 12:12 AM (GMT)
That only happens in the English version. I have the same problem with my DVD, too, I think it was a mass-glitch. Just like I can't tape off of the DVDs without theTV screen jumping.

But if you watch that part in Japanese it won't freeze. ^^ What happened was the imperfect mana became one with Shiso/Aki and Mikagi got his old body back, along with a lot of the power he had possesed and started killing everyone. Then Kagami sees Alec who told him what he saw. Tooya had a big ol fight with him. And then Aya tells Tooya the news about her, then Tooya tells Yuuhi to watch Aya and leaves. Ays stands near a window, we see a big scary Mikagi behind her. He jumps through the glass and stab. ;D

And heeee WEI-SAMA *_*! Too bad we don't see the actual scar in the anime [as opposed to the manga] And yes, Tooya's wings were pretty. :B

Yuhi - May 30, 2003 12:17 AM (GMT)
Thank you, Aki. I was so upset that I didn't get to see Aki transform into Shisho/Mikagi!

BTW, now that I noticed it, Wei's hair doesn't look much different. It's looks... the same.

I was saddened when Toya said "I don't have much time left" in the ending. I loved Toya so much in this DVD version. I was happy that he came back.

Mikage-san - May 30, 2003 04:03 AM (GMT)
I'm glad you liked the ending, Yuhi. :) I like how Tooya came back, too...

It seems as though you have a little bit higher opinion/like of him now... as well as Aya, since you were afraid she had died for good (as had I when I first watched it).

Very impacting scenes, ne?

Yuhi - May 30, 2003 09:29 PM (GMT)
When Mikagi stabbed her I thought her/Ceres were finished. But I was happy that the Hagaromo revived them.

Toya became a lot better in this dvd. I loved how he came back and that he returned Wei's wounded eye. Heh, Wei should've thanked Toya for that. ;)

Do you really think Kagami deserve that death? I think so. For everything he did was stupid and a mistake. And it costed many lives, too. Most importantly, the Celestials. I kinda thought he deserved a much more painful death.

Edit: Can someone PLEASE explain to me what the scene when Yuhi's father's soldiers came marching into the room with the celestials and one of them walked towards the standing celestial and she smiles then all of a sudden the entire city exploded?? That scene seriously confused me. Did they all die? Or were the girls sent to heaven??

The C-Genome tennyos took fate into their own hands and committed a mass suicide. No one forced this but themselves.

They said how "dirty" and "unpure" the world was... that since they were so much better, they deserved Heaven, basically. They went out in a rather evil way, in my opinion. The tennyo gave such an evil smirk (shown below with one of my cels), that sorta said, "Haha. We get to go to Heaven while you suffer in Hell!"

As for Kagami... I don't think he should have died. I don't believe in the "eye for an eye" principle. He had an epiphany at the end, and though he played God too many times to count, he realized his mistakes. I think Aki's death blew him over, if I'm honest. He killed his cousin for goodness sakes.

He gave Alec sole custody of the future tennyo because he knew Alec would do the right thing for them. He could have gone on the plane with everyone else, but he chose to atone for his sins. I wouldn't want to live if I did what he had done, either. :/

You never know. He was never shown dead, so perhaps he's not. I want more AnC to be made from the novels. I'm sure it wouldn't be for a long, long time. Look how long it took Eikoden to come out for Fushigi Yuugi.

Mikage-san - May 31, 2003 04:04 PM (GMT)
Grrr! It won't let me post an image.

Yuhi - May 31, 2003 06:19 PM (GMT)
it worked.

The tennyos are definitely mean. "Humans are so... ugly." How rude!!
Hmph, they don't deserve heaven...

Btw, the Shuro concert was the first concert I've seen in an anime. It was a spectacular sight.
I rather see the Japanese version, though. I bet it would have been so much better.
Now only if I can see Threelights in concert (Sailorstars) that would be awesome.

They were a bit rude about it, but they had these ideas planted in their brains. You have to remember that some of these girls were even younger than Aya. They were coaxed into being impregnated, even with a good amount of them still being virgins.

Though rude, they were young and easily manipulated.

As for the Three Lights in concert, it was awesome. Sailor Stars was the first anime I've ever seen subbed. (I had seen dubbed SM before that up till the middle of R). Stars is and always will continue to be, my favorite Sailor Moon season. ^_^

Yuhi - June 1, 2003 12:17 AM (GMT)
Okay, I thought they really did that on purpose. But I do understand that they were all young and manipulative. :(

you are very lucky to see the Sailorstars season. If I could just see them perform just once I will be the happiest girl ever.

Mikage-san - June 1, 2003 12:52 AM (GMT)
Yeah... they were manipulated... but I guess even that doesn't excuse it. I don't think they ever made it back to Heaven.

And yes, you must see Sailor Stars. I have it on RealPlayer format CDs, but I don't know if you'd feel comfortable with me sending it to you. I've sent Tara (Aki) cards and anime goodies before, so she can vouch I'm not a stalker or anything... o_o. PM me if you want me to send free of charge. ^_^

Yuhi - June 1, 2003 02:00 AM (GMT)
Yes, thank you!! I've PM'ed you. Thank you very much, Mikage!

Melfina - June 27, 2003 07:09 AM (GMT)
I enjoyed the ending. A happy ending. I thought at first it would be a pretty sad ending, somewhat. But I really like the re-appearance of Toya. But yes, Aki's death is very sad. How he died was terrible. But then again, most the deaths in this anime was all tear-jerking. This is just some of the things that makes this anime great. Besides all the romance and love. :D

snortstah - July 6, 2003 09:50 PM (GMT)
lesee
well i haven't seen the anime actually, but i have heard it's rushed in comparison to the manga. hmm well i'm still not sure if i like the ending ot not. when i finished it, i was just like "whoa"
well i suppose i didn't like it BECAUSE it was the ending XP

i kind of liked how you weren't completely sure if it was going to be a happy ending or not. when aya got stabbed i was like "d00d that can't be good >.<" lol
hmm i think i DO like the ending ^_^ yay tooya came back ^_^

duotrouble - July 7, 2003 02:52 AM (GMT)
I liked the ending. It left you wondering what happens next. It didn't explain everything. It left plenty of questions. How much longer does Toya have? Will Yuuhi hook up with Aya? Will Yuuhi see his mother again? What's the baby? What about Aya's mom? To mention a few I had.

I love when animes or stories in general don't completely end. It makes your brain work. You're not spoon fed everything. I feel more like an active part of the story and not just a viewer.

Mikage-san - July 7, 2003 03:37 AM (GMT)
Have you read the Miku episodes? That explains a lot of your questions... :)

snortstah - July 7, 2003 04:10 PM (GMT)
i've read miku ep summaries........but only a few

duotrouble - July 7, 2003 10:45 PM (GMT)
No, I haven't. Where do I find that?

--duotrouble

snortstah - July 7, 2003 10:50 PM (GMT)
do a search!
i would DIE without searches!
infact, i got the episode summaries by accident, so even if you're not looking for it, you'll probably find it when looking up "ayashi no ceres" anything

duotrouble - July 7, 2003 11:03 PM (GMT)
Found them!!!

-duotrouble

snortstah - July 7, 2003 11:06 PM (GMT)
easy as......something really easy, huh?

FiNaL_YUgi - July 16, 2003 02:56 AM (GMT)
Yeah!!! I finally get to post in this section! Not that I wasn't allowed in it, just that I chose not to go cause I hadn't finished the series.

Lesse, the ending WAS WAY TOO FAST! I took a break from the series after the 6th volume (couldn't get the Requiem Dvd) and it seemed like it would take a while for the series to end but they crammed it in all in a few episodes. I didn't realize that the last two volumes would be so climactic!!!

In my opinion, I hate the way Chidori died...it would have been better if she hadn't died but I guess she had too. What I mean is that she got shot by a nobody, a regular henchman...DEFENSELESS. They could have at least have her die fighting or killed by someone with more of a role to the series like Wei or Shisho.

And I loved the part when Ceres told the truth about what the tennyos do....seduce men for reproduction, thats all they do!!! HAHAHAHAHA
Usually its the men using the women but they flipped it around in the series, that was great!!!

A question did pop up in my head when Tooya was talking to Yuuhi and telling him that he doesn't have that long to live. Whats that all about? Is it because he lost the mana?

::I finally finshed it....kinda late huh?::

Mikage-san - July 16, 2003 11:06 AM (GMT)
Mmm... In the manga, Chidori was killed by an actual character. *smacks the evil brat* ;_;

As for Tooya... yep, he'll die off soon because he gave the mana back to Ceres. Just as Ceres can't live for long (I think she said no way it's more than a decade) without it, I assume it's just the same for Tooya.

Melfina - July 16, 2003 10:14 PM (GMT)
Toya is kinda like a tennyo, too huh? That left me questions but thanks Mikage for clearing it up.

Mikage-san - July 16, 2003 11:29 PM (GMT)
It's fair to assume he's part tennyo. He was created from the tennyo (Ceres') mana. I think perhaps the thousands of years underneath water, the mana "knew" it had to evolve to all things that Tooya did--the fish, the birds, etc, until the man told him it wasn't normal, that he needed to be "human".

The mana's soul purpose for existing is to feed its tennyo owner their live-force. Hence, why Tooya (the mana) transformed into a human -- so it could search out its owner to return to.

Granted, this makes it sound like Aya and Tooya's love existed ONLY because of the mana. Perhaps, though, this may be the case. Ceres obviously loved her mana dearly, and I don't think it makes the love any less "normal" or "pure" in doing so.

*shrugs* I think I've babbled enough for now.

duotrouble - July 17, 2003 02:06 AM (GMT)
OK, Mikage-san, you stumbled on exactly why I don't like Toya and Aya together.

QUOTE

I believe that naturally Aya would have wound up with Yuuhi. They were very much in love with each other. The problem being that Aya was feeling a love she couldn't explain for Toya, ie needing/wanting/loving her mana.

Not trying to start any wars here! Just voicing my opinion.

Mikage-san - July 17, 2003 02:52 AM (GMT)
No worries... we all have opinions... ^_^ If we didn't, the world would be a very boring place. :)

I could easily see Aya with Yuuhi myself, but I still stick to her and Tooya... I think it was the manga (the full series) that did me in.

I just wish Aya hadn't hurt Yuuhi so much... :\ poor guy... ;_;.

duotrouble - July 17, 2003 03:31 AM (GMT)
Very true, Mikage-san! But then again, wasn't everyone hurting everyone else?
