Title: Goblet of Fire
duotrouble - March 11, 2004 06:40 AM (GMT)
Just had to share with everyone that I finished the 4th Harry Potter book, The Goblet of Fire! It was really good. It made me cry. And I was so sad at the end. The same thing happened with the 3rd book. I was so sad I had to find something fun to do.
Don't get me wrong. I'm loving reading these books. I just wish that maybe I could smile and be happy for Harry at least once.

I already read 5. But I know what you mean...The ending of "the goblet of fire" was pretty sad but wait till you read the 5th one! *whoops slip out.....--'
I mean in the 4th one cerdic diggory died and the fuddy duddy cornilious*not speeled right Fudge didn't believe him! Thinking he was some crazy boy!
To tell you the truth I like reading these books! They're just soo good that you can't put it down! Yes and I wish I could be happy for Harry as well! I can't forget what happens in the 5th book! It's going to make you really cry! WARNING!

Hey, thanks for the warning! Yeah, I have that book on my table with the bookmark on page one. (I'm trying to finish LOTR: Return of the King first.)
SPOILER!
I couldn't believe Cedric died. I was just so upset. And then Sirius had to leave Harry again. I'm almost afraid to read book 5.
END SPOILER!
I can't wait though to be up to speed with everyone. Too bad Mikage-san hasn't been around recently. She's another big fan of these books.

 Seeing the movies is what prompted me to read the books. I wanted more background. Of course, I had to start with The Hobbit. I wasn't too thrilled with it since it was all about Bilbo and I am more interested in Frodo. I flew thru Fellowship but Two Towers took forever. I wanted to read about the quest of the ring and kept having to read about Aragon's plight. ( The movie version of Helm's Deep is so much better.)
Now I'm about half way thru Return of the King. The movie starts at the end of the Two Towers book. Actually, it takes about an hour of the movie the Return of the King before you get into the book the Return of the King. That book looks the same length as the others but it's really the shortest. Unless you read all the so-&-so is the son of so-&-so. Of course, that fries my brain.
So whatcha reading? Something for fun or something required for school?

*coughcough*
*ahem* I have done some reading but not now because I have a lot of end of term tests and stuff...--' but I did read this good book called "Across The Nightingale Floor" It's set in Japan and has all this ninja and good guy , bad guy setting^-^ well somewhere along those lines lolz I can't explain because I'm really bad at explaining! but it's really good^-^
Before I read the series of "Wicca" It's about witches. And the question will I turn good or bad? oh yes and soulmates :D I love reading and can't get enough of it lolz
But it's hard to put down books that are soo interesting don't you think?
Well enough about me and my books:P
What about you duotrouble? Read any good books lately? or before? :)

i myself have read lotr twice through now and without the movies i don't even think i'd be able to get thorugh it. tolkien is so long winded. ugh. but when there's action it's really good. it's just all that walking that bores the shit outta me.
duotrouble - April 8, 2004 03:30 AM (GMT)
snorts, you sound just like a friend of mine. She couldn't stand reading all the walking stuff but liked the action. I'm the opposite. I liked the walking because I learned so much about the characters there. I could have done without all the singing.
And you're right, he's very long winded.
I'm back to reading about Jack the Ripper. When the nightmares start again, I'll put it back down.

i agree.
i've never read jack the ripper...so it's scary, eh? i'll pick it up sometime. i'm always looking for stuff to scare me, whether it be a book or movie =)

Well, actually it's non-fiction. But since it's about real murders, it's kinda scary. It's called The Complete Jack the Ripper. It describes in detail about how the murders were committed, what the bodies looked like and who the suspects were and why.
One of life's greatest mysteries . . . who was Jack the Ripper?
The next fiction book I'm getting into is called The Food Taster. It's about a starving peasant who's hired by a Duke to be his official taste tester. The problem is the Duke falls in love with the peasant's daughter. The Duke isn't a nice guy but he's powerful with a lot of enemies. It's set in the Renaissance period. Funny thing about the book is that it has receipes in the back. I guess it's from dishes in the story.
